This is tough to film

Helpful for learning an instrument like guitar - easy controls of a phone while the large display is where you want it

Screen can stay fixed, or move with you
I prefer fixed because the corners can be a bit blurry and hard to see otherwise, plus the tv moving with you is weird
Use the nebula app from nreal
You will get the best experience with android, but if you have Apple, these can work at 60fps with a 130” screen. For that matter, a mac or windows laptop can work too via hdmi
These can work in mirror mode as I just described, or with most mid to high end android phones, they work in AR mode which can give you up to a 200” display equivalent
Video quality
Good brightness, easy to see in most environments
I recommend looking at a wall without too much variation
Speakers
Super useful and I am glad they exist, but if you fly, I recommend earbuds for less sound leak and more immersive experience

In my opinion AR is much more useful than VR and I can't wait for this tech to properly take off 🚀 The fact that both is possible with these is even better because who wouldn't want versatility.
The most obvious other use case that comes to my mind is navigation and a more immersive experience for voice assistants who could display pictures and answers in written text. Nice for mushroom hunting as well if people are into that.

@@blackbook2990 Yes, but Google Glasses had a camera, and so intruded on everyone they could see. People seen wearing Google Glasses would sometimes get punched in the face, and I can see why.
@@blackbook2990 Google Glass wasn't a flop per se, it was negative publicity that got it killed off. The fear/actual occurrences of people covertly filming changing rooms, toilets, etc and people walking, driving, and cycling while watching films, etc, and a range of other dramas really worried Google. One analysis showed the brand damage was expected to be more ('Googling' no longer the term for an online search, but a voyeuristic filming) than lawsuits from victims.

I really see this being the future. Having the glasses connect to an external device seems like the best way to get to the AR everyone is dreaming about anyway. In the future I think we will continue to have phones powering the AR experience, at least for a while.
IMO Power banks and jackets should be considered hand and hand. With so many things drawing power- glasses, headset, phone etc an integrated power bank for travel in jackets seems to be more realistic then thinking every peripheral should have its own power source.
@@artimus4198 I could be wrong, but I think we humans like to have tactility with our tools. Something we can feel and touch. I have a hard time seeing us abandon phone screens altogether for that reason. But maybe we will come up with a UX that surpasses touchscreens. I just personally have a hard time imagining what that looks like.

Google maps while traveling and taking notes without taking your eyes off a lecture seem like some pretty practical use cases for these. As a pilot this could be pretty incredible for a heads up display in the cockpit. Maybe overlay ForeFlight's synth vision for flying through clouds. Could design an app to do the same thing or similar in a smart car while driving in rain or fog.

As a construction engineer, I think these glasses would be REALLY helpful in the site.
Oftentimes site engineers would have to do surveying during construction or check the shop drawings (blueprints that help Engineers get what goes where in the site), you gotta have your work om hand whether actual large A3 drawings or your pdf. Seeing this AR technology out in the market, it has SO MUCH potential to help engineers on site inspect and calculate amounts much much quicker, if only it had the processing unit to run autocad/revit as well, would be truly a construction engineer's dream come true!

My concern with use cases like this is the ability (or lack thereof) to scroll through plans, zoom in to parts, or being able to clearly see the part of plans you need to see.
One great use case is for working out in the field. For instance, I could see these glasses being very beneficial to me when I am trying to work on my laptop from my truck. I’m used to having a large 32” ultra wide display at my office that I use for CAD work. However, when I’m in the field and working from my truck, the smaller laptop screen isn’t as conducive for CAD work or multitasking between several different programs at once. Being able to display an extra monitor or two with these glasses would be a game changer.

As a fisherman I would love to see Augmented Reality glasses mixed with a fish finder, side scan, and a topographical map to give the angler a basically literal transparent view of where the fish are hiding so you can know where to cast. You can know when and how they chase your lure so you can change your lure action to entice a bite. And you can even know exactly when to set the hook. Aaaaghhh the possibilities 🤩💫
Probably useful for translating languages in real time too! Or converting languages to text you can read! I think the future is going to be big when it comes to VR especially when the technology improves and everybody can afford it! Soon it will be like just buying a cell phone! Matter of fact VR might become the new cell phone in the future!

These are gonna be really helpful when building FPV drones. I can't tell you how many times my tiny brain has looked through my eyes at the receiver I'm working with, looked at the diagram next to me, then back at the receiver, then the diagram. I wouldn't need to turn my head, and I'm sure somewhere down the line, there'll be a magnification application that would be perfect for soldering. These would be great for electronics building, in general! I WANT EM.

I'm developing an app for phones in AR and at this point this video has convinced me that these glasses would be a good consideration for possible devices capable of running my game.
Using navigation apps while walking around would definitely help without having to constantly pulling out your phone

These things are so cool. I ordered a pair from Amazon Japan (for $320 due to the Japanese yen being down) the same day I first saw them posted on the steamdeck subreddit. Planned to get them just to play with the steamdeck, but I'm now starting to realize how much else I'll be able to do with them. This will be perfect for piano practice! Mine are arriving tomorrow, so stoked!

Discovered VR 3 years ago and totally love it but I think AR will go mainstream before VR and make it more more popular.
AR has so much more possibility than VR and doesn't necessarily require the same isolation.
They go hand in hand imo, but yes AR is going to change the world.

As someone who needs to wear glasses everyday, I've always loved the idea of Smart Glasses and AR. So glad you can get these with prescription lenses, if I ever have the money to spend on something like this, no doubt I would buy them. They sound awesome.
I wear glasses. I don’t need them with Quest 2 so I’m hoping for a similar result here.
I have 2 different prescription glasses. One for everyday use and another for computer use and reading. With these smart glasses being on your eyes, I am wondering which prescription I would need for this; I would imagine it would be an everyday use prescription, as I don't think one would need any prescription for something right on your eys, but I usually cant use my regular glasses for working on a computer.
I think that these glasses would be fantastic used with my DJI mini 2 Drone , But I wonder if they would be compatible plugging into the controler ? But Amazon here in Canada does not sell them.
I specifically want to use these to read lyrics and chords from an app on my iPhone like Ultimate Guitar or eChords, with auto scrolling. For playing guitar at parties or around a campfire it's a no-brainer . A dedicated app by one of these companies for use with NReal Air would be awesome 😎

Would be great for using maps for directions while driving. Phones are usually to the side and most car screens are quite low mounted. Having this literally inches from your vision will help make quicker decisions at a glance. I am sure there will be drawbacks as well though.
One of the problems with the idea of AR Glasses, is that there's a good number of the population that already has to wear glasses. It's nice that they thought of that and offer a way of ordering lenses based on your prescription, but I can imagine it would be pricey to have to change that out every year or two if you keep the glasses long term
If they make a version made to comfortably fit over existing glasses, I could easily see myself using something like this for casual things like TV or Steam Link

FYI, glasses don't cost $400 a pop, not really. It's only the stores that are part of the Luxxotica monopoly (which is most major brands and pretty much any store connected to your optometrist's office) that charge that much. Go to other stores (Warby Parker, Zenni, etc) and they're more like $15-60. I'm not sure what the process is for getting lenses in the frames for these AR glasses but I bet you can get it for under $20.
My brother lives in the US while I live in Italy. I can clearly see a spot for these devices in the future. Just imagine... we could both wear this pair of glasses, maybe they will have face-tracking, and we can both speak and see each other. Avenger-hologram-like experience. Even more, It would be super impressive if, when needed, we can share our point of view with the other. Like, again, I am outside for a walk, doing window shopping, I see something interesting and I can say "hey look at that, what do you think". How incredibly useful this could be in the industry. I am an architect, I already use VR headset and I know it is already impressive. But these glasses are the first step to the game-changer experience of having multiple people discussing design around a table, watching real objects, real sketches, and real documents while looking, also, at a dynamic 3d model in the center of the table. Keep up the good work, I can't wait.

That's what VR Headsets are for. I understand the point you're making, however the real use of this would really be the convenience of sitting in an uber to entertain yourself, cooking, learning hands-on tasks with youtube videos, maybe even learning new exercise/yoga techniques. But the,"Hey look at that" is really provided on the smart phone. With facetime, videos, photos. I mean if you're gonna spend almost 400 dollars for immersion and, "face-tracking, and we can both speak and see each other." you might as well buy the oculus which provides said service in a much better light. Especially the newer models coming out as if recently. But yes AR does have some cool potential! Although I wish you could just provide the battery with a portable charger and the glasses could maybe be added to a service plan to provide it's own stable interface. I don't like that it would drain your battery on the device it's connected too, rather inconvienent if you're taking the glasses out while using the battery on your phone to even be able to use, which we very much need.

In the end, it shouldn’t be you or me to define what these glasses will be capable of. What I would like to see is a Ray ban style glasses, with transparent lenses and ar/vr integrated with cameras and 6 degrees of freedom! How we are going to use them it should be up to us. If you want to use just to watch movies it’s all right, I would use them to work and to see my brother and friends in a new way. Let’s be positive :)

I know you're not supposed to wear these while driving, but I'm so interested in HUD apps for this for driving or just walking, like an Iron Man kind of display that gives you useful data around the edges of wherever you're looking.

Without front facing cameras or eye tracking, it has no information of the world around you. It can't overlay physical objects, like buildings or mountains, with additional info. The term AR is a bit of a stretch, because it can't enhance the reality around you.
I really want to get these to develop my own HUD! It'd show the time (down to milliseconds), calculations based on that (how long until the next hour, day of week, moon phase), and as much as I can fit there.
Imagine watching VR concert videos with these.
@Mike O’Brien would they work well for having things like iPhone notifications and text notifications come to your field of vision without major distraction when you’re driving (ie without looking at the phone)?

I could really use this in my job, im a automotive technician (basically I do all the hard jobs that require you to be precise and accurate to a millimeter) I have to constantly check a computer for specs or specific steps, this will help me considerably

As someone who cooks fairly often i can see these being a HUGE help when it comes to following recipes! They can also be a big solution to people who walk around while looking at their phones, you can be aware while consuming your content if you want. Theyre probably super good for navigation aswell.
Depending on their longevity these might be a much more affordable option to some of those really expensive gaming monitors. And much easier to move than some of those monitors.

Good review, thank you! Have you tried to watch 3D movies using it? Or TH-cam 3D videos? I'm looking for a portable projector with 3D capabilities, just for watching movies and playing games in different places at home but being able to use 3D features when available. I think these glasses will be a great fit for what I'm looking for!

I think there are some pretty good use cases for them (getting into programming and that stuff as well, going to college soon for something related to tech field). Do you stay up watching videos at night but just hold your phone in your bed (like I do)? Well, these glasses are certainly better for that. Personally, I have an apple phone and I’m not sure that I’d want my glasses to be wired so for now I’ll pass on them until the tech improves. Would they be useful for working, though? I’d have to say probably not and a laptop would be your best on-the-go option. Think about how slow it would be moving your hands for the individual codes. Yikes! If your looking for a screen that won’t take up space and a cool experience, then I’d say it would be an interesting product to get. However, using it for work is beyond silly and your not gonna get great performance out of them 100%.
I have three moniters for work and at times I wish I had more. Sounds like the fixed perspective "desktop" would be great. Look left or right for emails, teams, zoom looks center for Office apps! How do they work as a computer monitor replacement?
Yeah it could be a powerful solution there, and you wouldn't need much space at all! I will not be replacing my monitors at the moment though for two reasons: 1) eye fatigue. These glasses are still new and so eye fatigue is still a real issue for sure, and 2) these are only 1080p. If they were 4k or better, I think it could really be a viable option.
@@MikeOBrienMedia my work screens are 1080p! For gaming and graphic stuff I'd say 4k would be a min, but for office work 1080p, in theory, should be good! Thanks!
On laptops you can't have stationary multi-screen setups within the glasses and a PC however as the only software that allows you to use the nebula stuff (everything with MR/AR features) are all only built for smart phones like the Samsung galaxy series (works well with my galaxy S10 ans fold3). So when I hook up to my laptop it works excellent as a main screen replacement, privacy screen as you can turn off the laptop screen in settings and still see via glasses, or as a second monitor or extended monitor to your laptop but those don't work too well for me as just replacing my screen with the glasses

because as i have seen on videos you only get stationary screen when your using nebula app?
@@ronaldomurataj2519 the screens move with your head like you have a big TV extended a comfortable distance away. The only mode where you get the screens to stay in one area would be within the nebula app. For everything else it just turns into a monitor with no AR stuff really, but it IS an excellent experience in Dex and dex is the only mode you can shut the screen off and still have it stay on and working with the glasses (when you mirror the screen or use nebula you're required to leave the screen on... thankfully not with dex)

What about eye strain or headaches? That's the number 1 problem with these AR/VR/Metaverse devices. Any nausea or general discomfort during the use of these?
I have not had any nausea or headaches yet, but definitely some eye strain. You can tell is not the most natural way our eyes focus or look at things
Hi, it differs from person to person I think. Our glass has TUV certification, but it may still cause some people eye stress, so we recommend users to take a break for every 45mins or 1hr.
Just received them here in the UK. Unfortunately cannot download the Nebula App for either a Samsung Note 9 or a Microsoft Duo. In both cases it says that the Nebula App is incompatible with the phone. So what is it actually compatible with? There are many complaints on the Google Playstore.....
As far as apps go do you prefer these or the riokid airs?

Yeah I am glad they are still pushing for smart glasses. I think there is a future for these once tech gets smaller and more powerful. As for the comparison, I'll have one tomorrow!
I'm really curious to see someone's experience using these with a laptop and having virtual monitors doing work with documents and spreadsheets. How does a computer mouse work with these?

Honestly the glass can also be used for productivity, the image is clear and sharp.
Actually I just want it for gaming, I know, vr is better, but I like the idea that I can see the real my keyworld aka the real world as well behind it, I need more info on these things.
Probably not supergood. Have you ever tried doing prodictivity work on a screen 3 meters away (lika a TV)? My eyes get tired real quick. Also, it's only 1080p.
Can you disable one of the screens? I am 100% blind on one eye (right side in case it matters) so I'd have no need for one and don't know how well it would (or wouldn't work) using only one side. I get the 3D option would be out but other than that any ideas on how well this might work for a single eye?

LG currently holds a patent on the current production process for OLED screens. Samsung has just patented their own process called quantum Dot that's far superior than LG's as well as already demonstrated in curved and folding displays
I wasn't actually looking for anything like these, but I so much prefer this over the traditionally bulky vr headsets (and frankly I hate the occulus software) so I might snag these. Thanks for the awesome review

Great job with presentation man. I am curious for video and to be simple if I wanted to watch a movie how would you connect. You mentioned hdmi so how does video connect? Bluetooth? Also I’m curious to have video stationary or to move with you would this be controlled with an app. I’m gonna get a pair and I have an iPhone 11. I’ve been waiting for this very thing with a sort if see through technology so I can walk around seeing what’s around. I’m also wanting to use Them with my sailboat for navigation and forward scan under water. What a perfect device for that very thing when you have to see visual stuff aat the same time as gpa and under water. So anyway how is the fixed video control and how would video connect? you pointed at things not many others said about these glasses. it's great for light use that doesn't require high fov like cooking, exercise on a bike and treadmill and general not demanding use which is something i was looking for compared to full fledged passthrough headsets. nreal got me on and off a couple of times about it and now it's on again as a secondary hud for light use compared to an mr headset like quest pro or lynx-r1

Do you have to use Nebula to adjust the head tracking? If you are using a Switch or an iPhone would the tracking be fixed also?

Could you run any android app you want on these glasses? Basically can i basically screen mirror my phone screen?
It looks great, but I'll hold off until the app support for something like this takes off more. My other gripe is control, using the phone as a makeshift controller looked okay, but is just too clunky. If hand tracking sensors (or maybe gloves that work in a similar way to the phone) were added in a future iteration they would be perfect imo. I'm sure that would be horrible for phone battery life, but when AR glasses finally start to take off, maybe we rethink smartphone designs to better accommodate them, or allow for passthrough charging and carry a high capacity portable battery (my quest 2 solution lol).
Big step for AR. Conact lenses are next within the next 10-15 years based on technological exponential growth. I love technology, but I’m afraid humans will be able to make reality whatever they want. Eliminating hardships, along with anything we dislike through AR as it becomes more accessible. It will hinder natural brain chemistry and rewire the brain to desire whatever it wants at ease

I think something like this for augmented vision would be great. If they incorporated a camera with zoom capabilities it would be like wearing a pair of binoculars or a microscope or maybe even infrared giving you super vision. Infra red would be great for driving you can see animals that may be about to run out in front of your car.
oled technology has made it possible for crazy amazing augmented reality glasses/headsets
and this is just the start of it, i just hope we can get a affordable version of the hololens that uses oled tech, that would be perfect

these are so close to the product ive been searching for for years now, that i think i might have to get a pair...
as a fairly die hard by the average persons standards vr tech geek i love this idea.
i already have a full body tracking VR rig (yay dancies)
but have wanted to find something i can use while watching twitch streams, or in a virtual call.
i would love to use this kind of product for similar usages you mentioned, aswell as maybe attempting to mount a keyboard to my forearm or something for around the house... i guess i could attempt to use some kind of speech to text software for basic text input.
i guess the phone would have that already so maybe just mount the phone to arm instead with a runners band idk.
i personally would also probably attempt to pair with a folding portable bluetooth keyboard so i can maybe handle basic writing on the go.
i used to use my phone, but it got awkward having such a tiny screen to work with.
being able to maybe handle emails and stuff, or watch a movie when laying down would be nice.
especially if unwell.
i remember using virtual reality to project multiple monitors in my virtual space, like 10 or so all stacked up.. i get this tech is basic comparatively , but i hope one day to get there, so i can maybe handle that kind of usage too...
oh and really hoping software support takes off, i think a product like this really needs some good quality dev support either from the company themselves, or some kind of encouragement to get indie devs working with this kind of platform.
i think a lack of decent software is what will make or break these kind of products from surviving.
maybe in the future we could see some kind of add on tech 3rd party or otherwise to add existing functionality.
again software more important, but if enough hype came off these, and the physical product was maybe open enough to 3rd party manufacturers.. maybe someone might make a oculus quest inspired hand tracking sensor (maybe a external head strap device or similar that interfaces with the product, or the devices connected to it...)
and in that same vein.. maybe an external clip on camera...
leave the tech open enough and consumers themselves will come up with their own home brew solutions too.
go pro could be mounted inward perhaps for that one person out there...
ive seen alot of creativity in the VR space over the last couple years from people trying all sorts of home made and collaborative group based projects.
from making non standard headsets work with things it shouldn't (psvr with a pc for example) or phones/xbox cameras for full body tracking instead of the over expensive individual things we currently use.
people had to make strain reliefs and mundane products to mount tech to our bodies while in vr...
mods and overlay apps to make the tech work better, (instead of waiting for manufacturers to hopefully bake it in)
honestly, the power of creativity is incredible if allowed!
dont be closed like zucc, or you will kill products like this, be more open to the community.

i am very excited for the future of this AR based tech, as i think it has a great many uses in the professional world, corporate world, and entertainment worlds alike...
even for usage scenarios like the bed bound or disabled people in general.
i think this kind of tech has an extremely useful potential as well as being highly entertaining.
lets hope this is like the new android or takes off at least alongside vr!

This is a stunning reminder to me about “google glass”. How hyped it was, and how much it miserably failed in the end. This seems much more advanced and better, guess we’ll just have to see the outcome.
I am a live audio engineer and I would use these glasses to mix the bands. Many audio mixing consoles now have iPad/android apps. This would allow me to freely roam the venue and not have anyone bumping into my iPad while I’m trying to mix. Only issue I haven’t figured out yet is control of the app. I assume there is a mouse type device that I can have in my pocket.
If I would connect some bluetooth foldable keyboard with the track pad, and some cable that will allow me to add charging while using. Will that work?
Well, they look funky, a little too funky for my personal taste. But I like the idea for sure. I'm still waiting for a more "normal" set that wouldn't make me look like the geek I am 🤣 Great video Mike, you explained it's functions very well, it's pretty involved. The price is easily it's best aspect to be honest. If they looked better, I'd definitely not mind paying that price for sure.
We have been hearing rumors if Apple smart glasses for years. I imagine in ~5 years, we may finally see a pair and at that time, mass adoption will begin. Who knows if they will take off before then. I really hope they keep finding new use cases though!

These are easily the least funky glasses I've seen in the AR space and don't draw any sort of looks for looking funky either
@@gman102formyspace Hahaha, just because they're the least funky doesn't make them not funky....they're still fugly. I haven't seen a single set yet that can pass off as non geeky, but admittedly they are at least trying to do better as of late. Still not even remotely there yet though....

I'm thinking of one of these for the following use case. I'd be interested in your opinions.
Outdoor macro photography. Outdoor macro photography isn't great for using a camera's viewfinder because you are usually shooting low to the ground. I can mirror my camera to my smartphone, and even click the shutter via a smartphone app using the cameras built in wifi. The problem is that it's awkward handling the camera and the smartphone at the same time. These glasses seem like a solution to that problem. So two questions: Would mirroring my camera to my smartphone via wifi, and then mirroring my smartphone to the glasses work. The other question is how do these glasses work in broad daylight outside? Do bright lights interfere with the experience?
Would you use these while driving? Placing a pc window on one of the screen corners?
I'll buy a pair of AR glasses when they get 4k screens. 1080p is way too low to enjoy and causes eye fatigue if VR is anything to go by. These companies shouldn't even be pushing out these products at anything lower than 4k.

There's undeniable smart tech in them. Head tracking and eye tracking, for instance, requires processing.

I had my first work day using these paired my with my laptop. Awesome experience. No issues with Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.. Only issue I had was when content was screenshared from other people with a resolution greater than 1080p.

These glasses are crazy! Really nice Video I have so much Ideas about what to use them for. I just have the question: do they have a function where they are completely like Vr and you feel like you are somewhere else or is it “just” like watching on as big displays as you want? Because i wanted to get VR for gaming on Pc in VR but if these AR glasses have the function to nearly be like Vr glasses they are just way better for nearly everyone.

I need to know. Does each lens display something different or the same thing. I'm blind out of my right eye and my fear is not being able to use it to its full functionality. Is it possible to only use with my left eye and properly? Will there be any issues or things I won't be capable of doing with them?

Are there any good mini travel hubs with PD and USB-C DisplayPort pass-through so you can charge a phone while using the glasses with it? Or at the very least a splitter of some kind that allows charging a phone while having a USB-C display such as the glasses connected to it.

It would be awesome for them to make a battery to connect that could be like a neck wrap like the original Power Beats, add an extra connection so you can connect your phone/ laptop while th battery is connected it’ll be SOLID, or even if it could be wireless, like a screen share app for iOS/Mac OS, Android OS, Windows, etc…
