    I‘m working since 2017 as a vr/ar-developer for a big company focus on industrial & military stuff and thats my advice for you guys:
    1. choose a Gameengine (pref. Unity)
    2. Learn coding (base on your choosen Engine). Your are doing most of the time „normal“ coding stuff.
    3. Learn to use your engine (to know how to code != to know how to use the engine)
    4. learn fundamentale stuff about UX
    5. learn fundamentale stuff about 3D model (most of your performance issues comes from not optimized 3D Objects rather then bad coding)

      @@HassaanALal To be honest it was pure coincidence 😅 Vr-Dev jobs are quite rare. So if a company offers those jobs, its mostly experimental.
      I started by a company who offers maintance training/education software for the industry (for example: working on a oil platform).
      I meet the company on a job-stand at my campus. They searched for a c# developer. When they found out, that i have unity & vr experience, they offered me a job as vr-developer. The company had over 200 member, but my vr-department had only the size of five people. Two years later i joined a big concern. They also searched for a „normal“ developer, but i know from the time in my last company, that they have a vr-department. So i tried my luck and got it. The concern is over 25.000 members big, but we are only 8 people 😅

    First of all, thank you for this informative video. I'm a high school student from Korea who was planning to go to web dev/IT field... But, I've started to see a lot of people that are saying that those fields have become extremely populated recently and very hard to get a job due to huge lay-offs from big techs/AI replacements and stuff. So, I'm currently thinking of turning to AR/VR field since it look less populated than those fields and I'm also into programming, design, especially making my own stuff. What do you think of the job outlooks for the VR/AR field? Thank you so much!

      It really depends what toolkit will you be using, learn about the tools you will use and that will drive your hardware needs. For instance: the 8th Wall is all web and JavaScript, in that case yes WebXR development can use any type of computer.

    Hey Dilmer, is this a good career path compared to generic unity developer?
    I have a few questions:
    1. Are there VR/AR/XR unity developer remote jobs high in demand whereas the candidates are less amount? (I call it job availability to worker availability ratio, e.g. React JS jobs are high in demand because a lot of businesses need such skill to keep their website maintained, while such skill workers are less in general).
    2. Do you think a normal game developer who has worked with android games can get a job on AR VR XR unity development? Even though he does not have the equipment like Oculus etc? (me as an example, I have only used google cardboard on android phone)

    • @dilmerv
      @dilmerv  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1. Yes the company I worked for always needs people from all levels, I also know of others consistently looking for WebXR and Unity knowledge.
      2. This one is tricky, it depends on the job needed, but to be honest I didn’t accept a lot of candidates because they didn’t have knowledge about XR, I would say having the game dev knowledge is huge but also having exposure or a few prototypes with XR is even better.

    IF I want to become a VR developer using Mac OSI need to purchase a Mac 0S system first… Boy, I’m sure glad I watched this how to video before I made any major life decisions. This was definitely not a complete waste of my time! Thank you so much!

    • @dilmerv
      @dilmerv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the sarcasm there, this was meant to let you know what hardware and software you can use to get into VR, definitely not meant to make you a VR developer as that could be with a variety of ways ( as a game dev, as a mobile dev, etc ) and then using that knowledge to get started with VR.

    • @dilmerv
      @dilmerv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also the Mac part was meant for AR as many of the experiences built today with AR do require a macOS system for deployment purposes.
