If you are shaving and get “blood spots” you are doing something wrong. If after you finish shaving with a straight razor you have to go over the beard with an electric foil razor you have done something wrong. This is about as bad as the time beardbrand posted the video of the Irish girl shaving a customer and tore his face all to pieces, it was so bad they turned off comments.

I don't reckon that should be considered a failure in-and-of-itself, just a sign that things could be improved, which is definitely a different thing. You didn't ****-up, you just could've done better. I can't even reach the top of my lip with my best safety razor (under my nose), but otherwise it's a brilliant piece, I wouldn't tell anyone not to buy it just because it can't reach that fuzz there and I have to break out my shavette for it.

That is fine, and will keep it tidy throughout, but it will take you much longer to grow to your desired length over just letting it grow. You'll also find as the beard gets longer you may not want everything the same length (tapered sides)
Note to myself: speak with the barber & make sure I’m getting a really close shave, with 2 passes, because if I’m not, I shouldn’t be there: I should be either finding a barber who will, or be doing it myself.

Where I come from the barbers put water and just use the razor or for some cases just shaving cream and go. If I had barbers like these then no doubt I would go to a barber
No. Color is due to the protein pigments or lack thereof in the core of the individual hairs. White simply means the core is hollow or has very little pigment. Everyone starts out with light colored terminal (beard) hairs that quickly become thicker and then darker. Don't worry about it. Everyone is different. Some guys have a perfect beard at 18. Others like me have a thin beard of very coarse hairs which still hasn't expanded to the full borders that it should be. I'm in my early 20s. Just let your body do its thing. You're still growing and in puberty. I look very different now than I did at 17. You're fine. :)
