@@jamesvu5504 I thought he said "f bombs" because he was crass due to how he grew up and his circumstances in his life, like constantly being attacked by demons and thought of as crazy by all of humanity because they couldn't see what he was seeing. I absolutely love DMC. Dante is one of my favorite video game characters of all times. I'm definitely picking this up tomorrow thank you for this review
Glad you mentioned the controls, after picking up the originals and 4 it's jarring being used to the modern school of actions games where it's all about face button presses etc, whereas DMC has always operated similar to a fighting game like Street Fighter, with the implementation of the analogue stick to alter moves and stuff. It's definitely not one the mash through and expect to still look good, I recommend if this is anyone's first DMC TRY THE DEMO BEFORE YOU BUY - see if you're feeling the controls, they were a surprise to me.
One of the best features in this game is allowing you to adjust the camera distance. Where I had a problem, and I think few people are talking about, is the camera in God of War. The combat got really good after a few unlocks, but the camera angle (close up, basically over shoulder), was designed better for a TPS game rather than an action game. This option jumped DMC5 in my opinion, and more developers should follow.
I just got the game and I really can’t warm up to it I really liked the DMC Remake that came out a few years ago so i thought that I would love this but I find the fighting system pretty boring & I’m getting really annoyed by all the the small Animation and loading screens that interrupt the Flow of the Game it just feels really forced and annoying. @@makdrumz it was a good game, amazing graphics and levels as well as the best combat in the series (besides dmc5 but I gotta wait till Friday) but complete shitty story and characters. Dante felt forced
I'd really like a little bit of more information about how the microtransactions are implemented, because as far as the DMC series goes, even with DMC4SE (which had microtransactions), they always felt like literal non-issues and you kinda touched on that at some point in the video. In every DMC game, you can easily buy everything you want if you put on the time to learn the game. Is it even fair to suggest that microtransactions in this game are in any way comparable to something like EA or Activision?
From what Yong and Jim have said, they're largely only there for show. You get enough red orbs to progress at a good pace, and the lack of orbs only becomes a problem if you're constantly reviving instead of going back to the last checkpoint. However, yellow orbs allow you to do the same thing, so you'd have to run out of those first (a.k.a. you'd have to REALLY suck at the game and NOT be okay with restarting from a checkpoint, ever). However, I do think it's fair to compare the MTX here to others simply because they exist within a premium priced game. Fee2Pay is something that is anti-consumer, no matter if the game it's attached to is kickass or not, or the extent of its intrusion into the game. Jim has already disqualified the game from winning any of his awards this year for this reason, and he said it was a shame since it's the best game he's played so far this year hands down.
They aren't even worth mentioning and are no worse than in DMC4SE, there basicly there for people like me who are gonna want to skip straight to trying to pull off long flash combined with the whole skill set at my disposal.
@@TheKrossRoads I really disagree with Jim for excluding the game from any awards over something as petty as a harmless microtransaction that pretty much only exists so that hardcore players can skip straight to pulling off flashy insane combos.
I think that buying all the skills right from the get go is a terrible decision, especially for new players. It's better to unlock and learn all the skills one by one and know how to properly utilize them. Rather then just having a bulk of skills you don't know how to use and might as well not have at all.
Capcom has had so much goodwill lately. Then they decide to put in what looks to be a pretty pointless micro-transaction system. I try to be a glass half full kind of guy. So, I'll just assume that the executives at Capcom pushed for micro-transactions. And, the devs humored them with what's in the final product.
LONG POST WITH A VERY VALID CRITICISM. My biggest criticism with this game not mentioned in the review is that switching between the 3 demon hunters are forced upon you. You might have started playing 3 mission with nero and really getting the hang of him and for the next two mission you are forced into V and have to adjust to a new playstyle while not even mastering the previous one........ and later Dante is thrown into the mix aswell. This makes the game alot more fragmented and makes it harder for players to improve with the character when trying to learn them all at once. Especially in a game with the deepest combat system in the history of 3d actiongames. Even tho having 3 people doing their own mission might give the main story more variation it is hampered in that way that your favourite character gets an alot shorter game. All the missions should have had choosable characters at the start instead, atleast be available as an option on the second playthrough. That way it doesnt matter if the cutscenes dont match with ur selected character cuz you will skip them on multiple playthroughs anyway. Even tho DMC5 is not a story heavy game it seems story was prioritized over gameplay at least in this aspect.
I would not say that story is more prioritized since its a much more simple story to grasp compared to previous games but I do sorta agree to an extend on the characters thing. I'm personally more used to playing Nero and Dante so I had no problem switching between them but it was a huge pace killer when they made you switch to V for 3 missions in a row and was just not fun for me. would have been great if they to more advantage into the choosing which character path you wanted to play as like in some missions
I fully agree on this one. Maybe the developers are aiming for the game to have really high replay value. That's why they kinda don't let you master each character right away. And the game is actually designed to play it again from the top once you finish it for the first time.
Having microtransactions in DMC5 doesnt even make it a con as it neutralizes that with Dr Faust hat. As the weapon allows you go farm 500k orbs in one mission if u go to M13 usign dante.

Woah. I've not even gotten the game but this review has me excited without even spoiling it. 2 thumbs up.
So Nero’s got his devil trigger back 16:00
11:11 was I the only one who busted out laughing at that line? 😂
shizuwolf It was hilarious! 🤣
DMC is back! Thanks Karak
you bet stevebob
DMC is back. DmC is the reboot
@@jaquan541 You're right. I hope DmC doesn't come back personally.
@@stevebob240 I agree
every day i check my youtube subs to see if you have a new review up, even if it is for a game i do not plan on playing at all.
The lead dev stated the mtx were for the guys who want to go full out from the start, essentially combo montage ppl
The review, like most of the other ones I watched, was really well done (again). Just wanted to put it out there.
My thanks
I'm really digging these fps graphs man! It's like a digital foundry video!
your description of the enemies legitly made me laugh. thanks for that my man.
Glad you dug it
LONG POST WITH A VERY VALID CRITICISM.
ACG is pretty much the only gamer review I trust.
While I appreciate that. There are many reviewers out there giving their honest opinons on stuff. Thanks for sure though!
A good villain voice like Bane from Dark Knight Rises right?
Having microtransactions in DMC5 doesnt even make it a con as it neutralizes that with Dr Faust hat. As the weapon allows you go farm 500k orbs in one mission if u go to M13 usign dante.
I was watching a video on Metro Exodus. When someone mentioned your name. Thank God I found this channel. I always hated these mainstream game reviews from Paid sites like IGN who give positive reviews to every game.
Thanks Akash
Come on devs give this dude pc codes prior to release. Love his reviews.
Never have I clicked a video so fast.
I think you have clicked on another video faster
Right, I was looking for a review for this game and this was the first thing that came up lol

You shoulda played 3
@@MIXMASTER6991 is it worth picking up on steam? or does it show its age too much? ive always wanted to play bayonetta also but worried about them showing their age or being bad PC ports
@@MrSwitchblade327 yea i heard most fans hated nero

Yess. It's here ...and I'm super pumped . Thanks for the re view mate
sure thank you
Wow paywalls from hell are taking over everything. Remember when pay walls were only in WOW? Pepridge Farm remembers. Imo the only exception is Y2K NBA Playgrounds 2, because you can pay for everything with only one mt of $20, however is not necessary
for 2k that’s maybe for my career, but in myteam if you don’t fork over your $$$ you get bullied by dudes who have amazing teams because they’ve spent so much money
Capcom has been on a roll lately! It's nice to see them making top quality games again. They've got most of their franchises completely back on track. It's also a great decision that they didn't stick with their reboot idea, Devil May Cry's original universe is better than the reboot's and they were quick to see it.
I played dmc I didn't really like it but this looks so sick should I try it
Best game reviews on TH-cam. Much love ACG.
Your reviews are SAVAGEEE
thanks Jesse
I think they should remake DMC 3 using the new engine. God that game is masterfully crafted... I still think it's the series' peak even with 5 out
Thing is that 3's combat engine is already insane as it is and even beats out 5's in some areas, and I don't want it to be revamped.
Plz do trials rising review.... Plz.. I love trials series..
And rip Arthur...in our hearts...
OK I just discovered this Chanel and it's unbelievable just cant explain how great it is
