yes if the state has a requirement for your cottage food to be registered than yes following the cottage food laws is the first step BUT to add protection to you as a business owner the LLC is separate but I highly recommend it there is NO LAWS on cottage food in any state that exempts you from responsibility if someone gets sick or sues you.
I have two questions 1. For cinnamon rolls/buns what to do for the icing if icing is not store bought? 2. For muffins and scones. Can I use dried fruits such as dried cherries, cranberries, etc?
I make candied peanuts from home on the stove. The ingredients says use raw nuts, and I buy the raw nuts at a store. Is it okay to sell them since I will be cooking them on the stove? I'm asking because I wish to sell them at flea markets, pop-up shops, and retail, eventually.
How do I ask restaurants and retail shops if I can sell my baked goods? Some stores and restaurants might say no because they say it has to be made in their restaurant. How can I show proof to them that I am under the cottage law? Also how much should I charge if they say yes?
