I love the bike cave retro overflow boxes. Who doesn't have all of those forgotten items we bought decades ago, but didn't have the guts to throw away.
OK, that does it....the Autumn project has been set! - what a job Doddy, so well done and so many great memories and memorabilia. The washing machine was a killer idea too...
Wow, the old Crud Catcher brings back memories as the printing on them was initially done at my father’s print shop (Paperstat Print) back in the day. I was just starting to explore the wonderful world of MTB back then as a kid and learned that when visiting the shop one evening, that I had just missed Pete Tomkins and apparently his awesome MTB, so I was a bit deflated but I was given a Crud Catcher so I was thrilled about that. Awesome bike cave Doddy!
Thanks Doddy really enjoyed looking at your cave. Clearly a bit more organised than my garage.Don't know too much about you as I am an old boy but clearly you have served your apprenticeship and know your stuff. And theres me thinking you all lived in castles !
Look I'm really late to the show here, and just getting back into MTB riding again. Really enjoy your content Doddy, as well as the rest of the crew. Thanks for the tour of the cave. Keep the goods coming, excellent stuff.
Cool I'm doing mine now ! Having problems where to put what ? Changing around and trying to get tools sorted by the way most the Park Tools ,I went crazy and bought the best !
I've got a retro Mint Sauce cycling top if you want it to frame on the wall with your MBUK leaving gift Doddy? Loved the bike cave too-aspired me to put my cable ties in a drinks bottle for storage!
Doddy what an amazing bike cave. I especially like the Steve Peat signed shirt. I was lucky enough to win a signed Nino Schurter shirt at the 2017 Scott MTB Marathon Ride for Charlie event in Hope Valley. Feel so lucky to own it too
The one thing that caught my eye is the Avid Speed Dial lever. I have some black/silver 1.9's in my spare parts box, and a pair of SD2s in the grey/black colour scheme on a bike I gave to a friend, with firm warning that the levers are still mine and he's just borrowing them. Try and make a BB7 work as well with anything else...
As a diesel tech I had to have duplicates of some tools Some times you will need two 15mm wrenches. But at my dads he has 5 of them in the same drawer as 4 15mm, with 6 10mm, with 7 13mm wrenches and a single 1/2" thin wall 3/8 drive deep well socket with a crack in it. Takes for ever to find what you need. But it's cool.
@GMBNTech I would just like to say that Doddy, I didn't know your first name was Andrew, and I had no idea that you're [not actually] gay [but totally okay with being vague as hell about that ish]...I feel like you let so many of us into your world just now and I absolutely love it! (Sorry, I just met you last year when I stumbled across GMBN Tech so I'm probably the last one to learn these things about you.) Regardless, mad respect for having your [plutonic friend] partner featured in the video tearing down the old structure to help you live your dream of remaining a bike tech guru. So many ppl may have glossed over that part but you did not and it says a ton about you. Also, yeah the cave was absolutely amazing. 😁 I am most impressed that it is purpose-built from exterior structure and not just a refurbished area of the existing interior. No small feat!
Um, I think Doddy has a wife and the dude helping was...well a dude who could break concrete. I don't think Doddy would be offended by the confusion though.
@@newttella1043 lmao! For serious? 😂🤔 I'll go back and rewatch it... If you're right... Then all I have to say is Doddy, uh, word choice bruh! 😅😅 Still love him regardless 🤙🏾
@@newttella1043 lmfao! Thanks man, yeah a little TH-cam stalking and I found his unmistakably hetero wedding video! 😄😄 Doddy, bruh. Andrew, come on mate. You can't go around making videos where you're buying houses with your partner and all that jazz and not mention your wife. You realize, "partner" has different implications all over the world right? Smh Well I was happy for him and his, "out and proud" moment... *Sigh* now he's just regular old hetero Doddy again... 😋
@Andrew Dodd all that idiocy aside, just so you know, your tech channel is what got me into the TH-cam MTB world. Literally everything else I've watched about MTB came after getting hooked on learning bike maintenance from you. I even went and worked on the weekends at a bike shop after that! You rock Doddy. Sorry about my jumping to conclusions 😄🤐😜
It is good to keep old bike stuff. I even keep old bike parts which i know i won't ever need again for one of my bikes - i use those when repairing bikes of friends and acquaintances.
I keep my bike in my bedroom. My wife "loves" it, but what can you do since bike get stolen this days in Croatia. However, I plan to build by bike cave and I plan to post some pictures during the building process as well as from final result
Very cool. Lots & lots of memorabilia that covers everything that you have been involved in. These are the little bits that turn a plain old workspace into a Bike Cave. I've got a little peg or two that has all my race plates - nothing special but they all have a meaning to me and something to talk about if someone asks. Martyn should be next - what has he done with all his old bikes??
Looks a lot tidier than mine Doddy. Particularly like how you've separated your tools in each of the drawers so you can see each one rather than having a great big pile like me! Also little compartment boxes for parts. Perhaps when I get more organised...
Nice bike cave 👍 you have everything l need in that horde. I rember reading mint soure back in the 90s dreaming of owning a kline Attitude, whilst riding around on my GT Avalanche that ran the first panracer smoke tyres. I remember that first crudcatcher, if lm not mistaken, lm sure MBUK gave one away with an issue once. Never throw that retro stuff out, it's mountain bike history and shows how far we have moved on today, it's good to horde 😁
Ive seen so many different ways to store bikes. I too, store with front tire off. Partly for space but also my fork mount for transportation. Sometimes you hear about shock or fork seals upside down, right side up...Do you think it matter's anymore with modern mtb's how we hang them?
Who's bike cave would you like to see next?
GMBN Tech HENRY’S🙏😂
GMBN Tech blake’s
Definitely Henry’s
Blakes
Henry
You should get some kind of award for greatest storage density per sq ft., no space wasted, yet fairly neat.
One of the best presenters for GCN/GMBN, all class Doddy really enjoy your presenting.
Thanks, Daddy. I'm a 74 year old guy who feels really wise (and cynical), but I just love your presentations. What a gift. Best, Jocko
DAAAAAAMN I can't even understand all the knowledge Doddy has. Best bike cave so far: all the memories, all the tools, everything well organized
Loved Doddy’s excitement about his gear and memories attached to them. Had me grinning
Im so jealous doddy.Thats a bike shop not a cave
CaptainBasilis Pro Jealous
@@oscartorvaldsson5371 sorry my bad
It's tiny... Why is every UK garage and shed you see on this show the size of a closet? Is there really no room for a big garage in your country?
@@cabernet5 big enough, how big a garage do you have?

Now I wish I didn't get rid my old stuff.
Doddy is such a cool guy and down to earth. I learn a lot from his videos on bike maintenance. Thanks Doddy your'e awesome mate!
We've been asking for this for months so he's definitely been putting the 'shine' on it for this video for a while!
The way doddy places his bikes with the front wheel out...#mindblown. thanks for the idea doddy!
Super nice bike cave, that's the dream. You could seriously offer museum like tours with all the mtb history there!
Yes. I love the double ceiling for storage. Never seen that before. Genius!
Awesome bike cave/museum Doddy. 👍
OK, that does it....the Autumn project has been set! - what a job Doddy, so well done and so many great memories and memorabilia. The washing machine was a killer idea too...
OH MY GOD THAT SHEEP CARTOON FROM MBUK BRINGS BACK LOADS OF MEMORIES (and memories of Doddy's old MBUK era hairstyle as well lol)

Nice bike cave Doddy, you definitely need to build some retro bikes with all them retro parts you have knocking about 🤔
Amazing cave love the retro kit. You have given me some ideas for mine I'm planning
With all that gear in that space it's more TARDIS than cave. Awesome👍
Thanks Doddy really enjoyed looking at your cave. Clearly a bit more organised than my garage.Don't know too much about you as I am an old boy but clearly you have served your apprenticeship and know your stuff. And theres me thinking you all lived in castles !
I remember watching you on the free MTBUK DVD’s 10 years ago! Proper!

Love the Howies guy! They did some really cool stuff back in the day.
Glued to that vid for 20mins!!
What a cave, what a guy, what a tour. Awesome👍🏻
Epic! Thanks for the tour mate! 👍🏼
Great video Doddy! Would love to see that custom frame you made especially as it's a XXL.
Loving the bike cave Doddy, breaking that roof seemed so satisfying !!!!!
@Andrew Dodd Looks like a proper bike cave
I was watching with my jaw hanging the whole time, it looks like a freaking heaven in there
Doddy, I reckon you should build your dream retro pushy with some of those old parts! Just for fun. Mint setup indeed!

Great place!! and full of stuff with history, watching from Japan Amigo
Dods is gonna look fucking formidable when he starts to thoroughly gray. I could see some sorta silver mutton chop mullet hair on him.
Very steady for small space. Well done.
Going to nick the removing the front wheel trick when hanging the bikes, now I'll have room for the new one 😀, great cave 👍
Lotta history there. Real nice Doddy!
This has got to be the best TH-cam video out there, along with the screaming frogs
I like the bottle with the *BOOM* cable ties
Niiiice Doddy, you’re a bloody legend! Now I just have to pull my finger out and clean up my shed and send some photos in 😀

Nice workshop Doddy, when I eventually get mine sorted hopefully it will be as nice as yours.

Wise move not showing the secret tunnel you drop into that sends you out a hidden cave down the street from your house. Tip of the hat to you Doddy!
Pimpin ain't easy Doddy!! 😂 Some great solutions in here though.
That is one good looking bike cave! Very well organized 👌
Those Frogskins are awesome!!! I had a pair in the 90's.
Really cool space, Doddy. Thanks!
Best bike cave ever, Doddy! Top work! You have inspired me to up my game.
It’s a complete treasure trove, cheers Doddy
Nice bike cave brother! Love the retro gear. Much love from Brevard, NC, USA.
lots of inspiration there, cheers doody!
Went to mt Washington the other day on Vancouver island was a guy with a set of totems on his bike ripping it up
No joke, taking the front wheel off blew my mind, makes it way easier to package on the wall.
Where can I get thr fork mounts, such a simple idea
that looks sooooooo good that has to be my favourite so far.
Doddy - I remember when you left mbuk, my 16yr old self was gutted! Haven’t bought it since...
I ride on a pair of old avid juicy 5's 205mm in the front, 180mm in the rear.
Now thats the DREAM. What a kickass cave.
Those acre supply packs are stunning.
Doddy that is a sweet shop you have.
"Archive bikes", ok that's next level.
well, go have a look at Seths new bike shed. pretty rad

It’s not a shed it’s a house/garage
Looks awesome! a lot of treasured stuff
Doddy that looks sweet... What a great space.
I seen a ox pink back derailleur in one of your parts box I been looking for one for my daughter bike it black with pink parts
So sick , i designed mine of of this cheers dude you basically inspired me to start mechanics

TLD D2 flame 😍😍😍.
I have the same, and he is in my bike cave !! 🤘
