Latex/nitrile gloves for the workshop- hugely helpful
Latex gloves and nitrile gloves are completely different. Latex gloves are for surgical or clinical use, and contact with oil, petrol, grease etc will destroy them! For mechanics, you need nitrile rubber gloves.
The chain checker is easily replaced by a simple 12" ruler. It's much more difficult using a metric ruler!
Something really simple and incredibly helpfull to have in every tool kit is a chain holder.
You can make them out of a spoke or a coat hanger. Its a bent piece of wire that acts as a strain relief when fixing a broken or separated chain. It take derailleur spring tension off the chain while your installing it. If you have a derailleur with a lock button you dont need it, but it's nice to have to help someone else.

I usually keep some duct tape and electrical tape wraped around my pump. Always handy when break lines etc. come loose. Even fixed a bent brake handlebar clamp once, that came loose after a crash. Stole this hack from hikers, they always have a ton of duct tape around their poles for fixing clothes, tents, backpacks ...

Would really recommend the 0.5/0.75 chain checker. IME having a 11spd chain wear down to 0.75 leads to bad chain retension and already some premature wear on the cassette. Have always found that 0.5 is plenty of chain wear and usually means 6-7000km of use. I regularly clean my chain with alocohol and ultrasonic cleaner, then wax it. Get really good mileage with that without wearing out my cassettes
Completely agree with you on all of this however I would like to add a few things - Rubbing alcohol, good quality shop towel (none of that super thin stuff), a few rags of different cleanliness, a giant tub of grease (can never have too much grease), spare nuts, bolts, spacers, washers, bearings, etc that you've collected overtime, titanium anti seize (I have some Ti axles, nuts and bolts on my bikes) and a giant collection of stickers. I know many of these could be arguable like alcohol, grease and Ti anti seize could come under oils, lubes,etc and how shop towel and rags could be something more for a workshop not toolbox, this is only a list of things I didn't see in the video that I would have put in the video if I was making it.

6:25 in addition to the rubber I use tape, silicone repair tape. Comes in a variety of colors I have black and clear works great for the same uses as the rubber tape.

3:30 if you run 11 or 12-speed, it is worth having a 0.5 and 0.75 mark chain checker and change the chain at 0.5. The cassette and the chain rings will be grateful ;)

I'd like to make my trail bike slightly slacker to tackle more aggressive riding but don't want to take away the feeling of the frame geometry as designed? Would be great to get a reply, thanks!

I recently used liquid tape as a chain stay protector. Have you ever heard of that? I used a textured cabinet liner to add a pattern to it.
@GMBNtech do tires dry out over a season and wear out faster? is there products to revive old tires, or maybe soaking in water? i know nylon for weedeater strings can dry out and get really brittle.
Multi spoke key also fits valve cores ...
It would be awesome to see you do a tutorial on how to tap threads. My pedal recently stripped out my crank arm. As a machinist, I had no problems fixing it myself, but many people don't even know that that technology exists!
If the threads are actually stripped out and not just cross threaded a little on the 1st couple threads, you NEED to retap with special larger taps (RH/LH) and bond in thread inserts or buy a new crank arm. It might be cheaper! Its the safest way to repair pedal threads. Stripped threads are weakened threads. Even after chasing the threads.
A pedal ripped out while riding could be a very dangerous thing!
Tip for the bleed blocks ... don't insert them between the pads if they're covered in gunk. Clean them first and avoid the inevitable brake pad contamination that'll happen otherwise.

That little red nib only comes with the Reverb Stealth. I just fitted a Reverb (non stealth) to my hard tail and I don't have one

Hey GMBNT thanks for being so helpful all the time. On rim tape, you suggested gorilla tape however I had a WTB KOM i29 that was taped this way and had a nightmare fitting a Maxxis HR2 DD to it (steel tyre levers were involved). When I removed this tyre I found that the gorilla tape had moved to obstruct the bead wall in places and had spread adhesive all over the place, including onto the tyres wire bead. After hours of miserable scrubbing I cleaned all that stuff off, used electrical tape as rim tape, and the tyre fit like a dream. Am I riding into a problem in the future or will I live happily ever after, steel tyre levers retired and never to be seen again? Much love.
Gorilla tape is a brand! Any cheap duct tape doesn't work very well and leaves adhesive residue everywhere. Its just vile crappy stuff.
You MUST use GORILLA BRAND tape! The stuff in the ORANGE package. Their adhesive is what makes the difference. It can be removed and used a second time! Ive used GORILLA tape on ghetto tubeless setups with Orange Seal, Stans and homemade sealants for at least 5 years. . It works great. Not a single problem ever.

The dynaplug is also absolutely brilliant and I too have the racer version,I've seen a few people using the screwdriver type ones puncture there rim tape been hamfisted so be careful

I think the knife was more a keep at home tool suggestion because the knife laws in the UK are pretty harsh so something like that bench made would probably be illegal to have in public anyway

Got a puncture last week that couldnt be repaired at the side of the train, so put a tube in. Stuck the CO2 onto it, and immediately snapped the valve stem. Was a crappy walk back to the car with one of the saddest sounds in the world (flat tyre flopping around)

What do you use to clean the disc brakes with then?
Isopropyl alcohol works fine. Ive used automotive brake cleaner as well but be really careful around paint!
Regular WD-40 works great as a degreaser, and you can buy it cheaper in a screen wash type of bottle
Yes it works well if you are applying a wet lube after, but if like Doddy you prefer to use a dry lube then we think It's best to use a specific degreaser with no oil content.
Good to know. I didn't realize dry lube's bond would be affected by WD-40.
You can still do this and a lot of people do. However if you are looking for optimal adhesion then any oil based degreasers should be avoided.

Do you really think that the money they get from TH-cam is enough to pay 5 presenters, probably around 8 camera operators, one or two cutters, producers, travel expenses, rent and so on?
GMBN (and of course GCN too) make their money with sponsorship deals from WD40, Park tools, Continental, Nukeproof, Canyon, Scott, poc and probably a few more that are a litte less obvious.

Any automotive brake cleaner, best to use the non-chlorinated type. Despite what some people will say it does NOT harm any of the parts, it's used on motorcycles and cars all the time. If you can't get brake cleaner in a spray can just get some isopropyl alcohol that'll work good on the rotors and the pads.
What’s the best liquid degreaser for cassets
Gasoline is relatively cheap. The Problem Is how to dispose of it. I filter it after degreasing with paper towels and coffee filters and reuse it over and over. The best chain cleaning tool is a gallon milk bottle and a few ounces of gas!
Industrial citrus degreasers work REALLY well. This stuff is not so cheap. Some are so effective and powerful that you can't leave aluminum soaking in it, it will literally dissolve over time! My friend once wrecked an aluminum cylinder head in it! Expensive mistake!
What would happen if you put non carbon safe grease on a carbon frame? Just wondering

In some rare cases non carbon safe grease contain additives that can damage the paint finish or the material itself.

I seldom go anywhere without a pocket knife here in the US, but I thought pocket knives like that benchmade were illegal in the UK...
Someone pointed out that they are legal if under 2.5in and non-locking, but the one depicted is a locking blade...

Guys, hate to sound like the H&S / PC brigade. I carry a Victorinox SA Knife with me whenever I leave the house.
That BenchMade is stunning, but with a locking mechanism is completely illegal and could get someone carrying one in public, into serious trouble.
A knife is a great tool, I never leave home without. But ensure it complies with UK legislation. Chances are you'll never be searched, but that one time could land you with a criminal record.
Your Point very much depends on the country were you living or riding for example in Germany its not a problem to carry even a big knife with you.
Definitely depends where you are not sure about the UK but here in Colorado, USA you can have anything but a ballistic knife. But man that Benchmade 😍

Try carrying a lock knife in my area weather its for ya bike and nothing else or not you'll still end up inside. Not the best advice for some UK rider especially those of us tht ride to and from our trials via the streets

Coming from the US, I get floored every time I hear this. I love Europe, but some things are a bit over-controlled. When I was in Paris with my family, I really needed a knife to get some repairs and handiwork done, and I ended up with a Dexter multitool thing from a hardware store that had a pretty good blade, but a lot of tool for what I wanted . Kind of drove me crazy trying to find something I could buy.

Ive always considered knives(and firearms) tools for a job. Their use SOLELY depends on the OPERATOR!
I carry a large hunting knife in plain view on my chest every ride. There are large wild animals where I ride. If it was legal I'd carry a firearm, but this is a state park in Wackofornia. Where I fish and prospect for gold in the Sierra Nevada, I always pack a pistol. Bears live here! Wild animals can move so fast through rough terrain, they hear and smell everything! They are in their elements. Most Humans are aliens!

Most brands offer a product that is safe to be used on suspension seals. Muc-Off call theirs Silicon Shine.

You plug one end of this red piece into the old hose/cable housing and the other end into the fresh stuff and then drag it through, Boom.

Those Parktool tools have a very cheap look to them - especially the torque wrench. Looks like a piece of a toy tool set.
Ive used their tools quite while. US made, not Chinese shit! They're pretty affordable and are good enough for lots of professional shops. I buy US made industrial hand tools, torque wrenches and measuring tools whenever possible. Its more cost effective.
The only tools I'm not totally happy with are Park cone wrenches. The metal is not hard enough.
Pedros makes good tools also, there are some Euro and Japanese brands that make wonderful but expensive bike tools!
