I can’t believe the amount of effort someone put into this! Not just translating all the speech but actually getting people to voice everything, and replacing the signs too? Also I have to believe they actually put all this through Google Translate because thinking up all this garbage personally is just crazy.
Replacing the signs is probably the most crazy. Voice acting and replacing the audio files is pretty simple. Sign replacing means you have to actively find every single sign in this damn game (which is nearly the entire game, discluding Xen) and replace them accordingly; still made an amazing game.

I've just rewatched this vid, and it's one of the most hilarious vids on the internet, period. The editing, commenting and the use of captions with the occasional Twitch comments is just pure genius, and you laugh from start till finish with only a few breaks to catch your breath until it goes crazy again. I think that's the result of an interesting quirk of English. We got rid of all our informal pronouns, "thee" for example is the informal version of "you", but many languages still have theirs so it is a case of Google translating informal to informal.

I don't know why, but Latin has a strong tendency to either COMPLETELY butcher the structure and meaning of a sentence and/or puts some of the words into King James-era English. As far as a remember, no other languages did this when I was making this mod.

"Thee" is still technically part of our language, but normally we'd localize it out. Google Translate doesn't localize things only translate them. Human translation always results in mild localization even if we try to avoid it, we can't help ourselves. It's part of the sentence restructuring that needs to happen. Now how this happened would require knowing what language it was before hand, and what Google Translates database contains.

I've just rewatched this vid, and it's one of the most hilarious vids on the internet, period. I like how the scientist at 3:12 just randomly switched to early modern english.
I think that's the result of an interesting quirk of English. We got rid of all our informal pronouns, "thee" for example is the informal version of "you", but many languages still have theirs so it is a case of Google translating informal to informal.
@@squirrel_killer- But why would it translate it into early modern english? I don't get it. I know thee is still used but it's more of a victorian era remnant.
I don't know why, but Latin has a strong tendency to either COMPLETELY butcher the structure and meaning of a sentence and/or puts some of the words into King James-era English. As far as a remember, no other languages did this when I was making this mod.

And yeah Latin is very.... context sensitive, so to say, as I've heard from a few friends who have to learn it in school.
@@areyouwelldoyouhavebrainda640 something that used a hard informal "you" which in english would be "thee" might confuse the rather literal translation based on hard definitions that is Google Translate.
"Thee" is still technically part of our language, but normally we'd localize it out. Google Translate doesn't localize things only translate them. Human translation always results in mild localization even if we try to avoid it, we can't help ourselves. It's part of the sentence restructuring that needs to happen.
Now how this happened would require knowing what language it was before hand, and what Google Translates database contains.
I think the amateur voice acting is really the comedic icing in the cake for this mod.
