They give out a theme and mappers have a couple of weeks to make maps based around said theme. They are usually quite creative and generally super neat. MOST of the time they're not just shit posts but some of the collections lend themselves to people having fun and making things like you see above. You should definitely consider checking some of them out if you're into Half-Life 2. Especially RunThinkShootLiveVille 2 with MMod cause that shit is fantastic.

I love when Jolly plays Half Life mods I've already done. The IKEA map was brilliant. I wish the rest of the maps were in this video though, some of them were really well done.
