This goes back to 2007 when I was working and living in VN. I met couple of Australians working at the Australian Consulate in HCMC and they told me they would get dental, optometry and family practice doctor treatment in VN. They said the quality of work, attitude are really good and ridiculous cheap compared to Australia. We're talking about root canal, eye surgery like lasik, even surgeries, I was surprised as I had thought European, Canadian and Australian health care was really cheap but the Aussies told me VN was a great value. They said they don't have to wait too long for appointment either. I'm from the US so everyone already knows US health care is ridiculous, way way too costly for what we get.
In recent years, I've seen news articles and videos about Singaporean hospitals fly Vietnamese doctors over to hospitals in Singapore for surgeries but charge Singaporean price. I've also seen news articles on how Vietnamese hospitals train European and Western surgeons on particular surgical procedure involving catheters !!! The thing is that we're obsessed with the outside appearance of the facilities and we fail to understand it's skills and knowledge that are keys to health care so we pooh pooh Vietnam's health care.

Great video. Root canals are from $1500 to $3250 in San Francisco area. Implants 10k. Braces $7-10k. Invisalign is so expensive there not because of the dentist but because of the company Invisalign. They have trademark on liners. Fillings are $300-700. Routine cleanings are $250-450. Thanks for the info on that clinic. I’ll use them when I’m there

I did crowns in Saigon in 2023 on all my teeth. Total of 32 crowns. Cost me 155 million dong. Very good service and all done in 9 days. Highly recommend to go there for all your dental needs

Please tell me more about why you chose that option. Is it a good long term and permanent solution? I have crowding on my lower teeth and was thinking invisalign but if I can just do a few crowns and get it fixed in one day for cheaper I'm interested. Anything you can tell me more I would appreciate!

I just got normal braces taken off about a year ago, it was 2.5 years around 8000-9000$ when I was done with my permanent retainer, also have to wear retairners for the rest of my life. Invisaline was a little more expensive but would have taken longer.
I just got back from Vietnam, I decided to check out the dentist and went for a cleaning in Nha Trang, it was 200k also 4 bucks, and everything was really clean and professionally. Really happy!
I ended up getting new glasses while I was there too, wanted to check everything out. I got sick, ear infection, went to the international hospital also, was 20 bucks haha! That was the expensive hospital. So clean, staff so nice.
    Really missing Vietnam now.

    G’day Travis & Loan,
I have been waiting for this video for ages.
When Kellie and I visited Da Nang in 2019, Kellie got 4 x verniers & she looked amazing afterwards.
Being from Australia she got quotes $ 15,000 to do it in Australia, in Da Nang $ 1,500 .
    I got a clean & filling $25 Aussie.
Now I need a wisdom tooth removed you didn’t mention wisdom tooth.
My dentist quoted me about $ 4,000 Aussie to remove it, in 2019 I was quoted $ 50 Aussie.
Coming in October 2025 for 5 week break & some wisdom teeth removal.
All my buddies think I am lying to them when I tell them & how in hygienic Vietnam must be.
Stuff them see you in 12 months time beers on me.
    Cheers
    Louis & Kellie 👍

Awesome prices. I was talking with a dental hygienist on one of my visits. She did not understand why implants are so expensive in the U.S. She said the procedure is so standardized, it should be less expensive. Great that your girlfriend got quality dental work done. I believe Invisalign is expensive due to being a brand name of clear teeth aligners.

Here in New York City different types of braces cost different amounts . The lowest prices are the ones that they put a lot of metal on your tooth 🦷, then they have ones with less metal , then more like a clear plastic than metal , then they might also have behind the teeth so nobody can see them . Some work better than others for different needs and some people need to wear them longer . So this effects the prices. Could be $4,000 to $10,000

When I was living in Australia, a coworker of mine flew up to Vietnam for some major dental work. He had really bad teeth and was missing some. He came back a couple of weeks later with a great looking smile and great teeth. He said it cost him about $4,000 Australian dollars, but would've costed him about $12,000 in Australia.

    WOW! Yet another reason !
I live in the miami area... i had a root canelle done about five years ago.
Even with insurance, i still beat about $750. Plus the cost of the visits, what's the cost of the cleanings ...
Without insurance, it would probably cost the same as flying to vietnam to get it done.

The price for a canal is good, I just wonder how safe it is compared to a western country (i.e UK) and if its as long lasting for thing like fillings or if they're cheaper but less quality (not a long lasting or as good quality filling) but I'm in Vietnam soon so I'd definitely be up for a check up and some work!
Just to get my teeth cleaned here in UK is £60, so I guess around $80usd?

About dental implants in the U.S. From my reading the dentist performing the implant can be a general practitioner and does not have to be an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. The general practitioner takes a 1-3 day course on implant procedure. While and oral surgeon must take an additional 4-years of medical training. I don't know what the requirements are for dentists in Vietnam.
