I have a feeling lewis locked up all memory of Arthur being a good partner in crime and focused on revenge as he thought Arthur murdered him but in reality the green arm possed him corrupting his mind to get what it wanted. Still haven't figured out who the arm belongs to though as shiromori is blue, pink, purple and white in color not green

I think the ghosts are supposed to signify Lewis' conscience and attitude. Their facial expressions in each scene they're involved in seem to evoke different emotions.
@@weirdo82 I recently noticed at 4:09 - when Arthur looks at Lewis - a bit of sweat forms on Lewis’ head. This could point to the idea that Lewis himself isn’t entirely sure about what he’s doing. Unless my interpretation is wrong, I think this could be the first glimpse we see of his doubts about actually going this far to get revenge. So, you could definitely be right about that.

Ok but one thing I just realized is that arthur is thrown into Lewis' truck, which means what's happening probably isn't real, and Lewis just want Arthur to experience what he did when Arthur "betrayed" him, and now hopefully realised revenge doesn't really suit him, as we see with the broken heart.
@@Ganz_GZ_Sans thank you! The theories about Arthur dying really didn't make much sense to me unless they teleported, which I suppose is possible but seems a bit much. I like the idea that Lewis wanted Arthur to relive what happened in his place, without killing him.

Any1 notice that the tree woman is literally the whole forest in the flashback image around 3:33 with mystery in the branches, not to mention her roots are holding back the samurai warrior with her roots? from what I gather in her images is that Mystery found her as a flour in a dead forest, empowered her with his blood and made the forest thrive to which he resided in and protected it.

But now, after watching "The Future", I have to wonder, why is Mystery with ViVi (who we're assuming to understand is a descendant of the samurai (forgive me I forgot their name)), if Shiromori was essentially what he created and protected?
How'd he end up switching sides after fighting against what was attacking what he made?

I adore how expressive they get with Lewis’s eyes. Since he doesn’t have a mouth, you really have to dramatize the eyes and they did that PERFECTLY!
Also, might’ve just been a coincidence but dead Lewis only has eyes to show emotion while alive Lewis(or what we see of him in flashbacks) only has a mouth.

Looking back at the flashing images, we see Mystery looming over (and by extension dripping his own blood on) a white flower
Now, if we take Shiromori’s literal thirst for blood when it comes to Mystery, the newest video confirms the fact that Shiro and Mystery do in fact have a history, and an interesting one indeed

I think his realization was the fact that Arthur never knew where Lewis was all this time since he was possessed when he murdered Lewis, so his sudden realization of who the skull guy was showed that Arthur didn't know about or even remembered that he was the one that pushed Lewis into the pit.

I just noticed that there’s at least one ghost that is sad. All of the ghosts are a part of Lewis, so there’s a part of him that is upset or thinking “should I be doing this?” But since the majority of him is hell bent on revenge, it doesn’t get heard.
There's also one in the same scene that's just smiling in the top right, meaning he's mainly extracting revenge, but is also happy to see Arthur and yet saddened by his betrayal.
I really wish they'd turn this into a physical comic or something so we could get new chapters quicker than every couple of years haha

idk if yall have noticed but lewis starts having these tiny moments of regret, somewhat hidden. the fact he lets arthur start driving before he can run him over or catch up (while this could just be for a chase, lewis also seems annoyed to have to chase after arthur). his expression right before he throws arthur into the truck. the one deadbeat that isnt laughing, but rather looks sad/worried/afraid.
he's been doubtful/worried deep down this whole time, but he's buried it under layers of "no, i want revenge."
I think he purposefully stopped his car to kill Arthur because if he would have just hit them he would probably kill Vivi too, but I agree with everything else, it seems Lewis is letting hatred control him.
Then at the end he regrets hate/revenge being in control
On 4:44 you can see the heart that’s usually a bright orange become cracked and grey
Right near the end, as the 5 panels shift in, if you frame by frame the scene, you can definitely see Lewis' heart being a bright gold and slowly changing to how it was when in Ghost. A ghostly blue with just a bit of cracks but still life in it and then that color slowly but surely fades to a charcoal grey and almost looks like it's about to shatter with no life in it. He thought he wanted revenge and was stuck on that notion. In that split second, he realized his mistake and is now even more heartbroken than before because he didn't understand that what happened wasn't within Arthur's control. I really can't wait for the next part.

I would wager that the remade spike cave is a Judgement pit specifically formed to have Arthur's sins kill him. His mouth made the "Ooo" and "eh" shapes. Lip reading isn't a perfect skill. A lot of it hinges on priming your brain to the word or phrase. It's easier if you know lot's of metaphors. The hard consonsonants and ssss sounds are also hard to make out.

I'm seeing this again and I just noticed something
If we look closely at Shiromori's flashbacks, we will realize that Mystery found her still blooming in a forest of NOTHING, just dry trees, she being the only thing to sprout there.
Shiromori is "White Forest", so when she moves from a flower to a beautiful forest of white and blue trees, we have Mystery living with her and possibly killing invaders
Maybe Mushi (ice ninja warrior) traveled there to find out what was happening and maybe end the deaths that occurred in a dreaded white forest, then she meets kitsune
Shiromori must have been angry and feeling scorned when she saw the only one in the world she knew, lived with and possibly loved, leaving her behind. Not being the first time, as we see in The Future.
Well, that's what I fought after seeing The Future, thanks if you read so far, it must not have been easy.
Now let's wait two more years for the next episode.

I honestly thought that Arthur said "oh shit" when seeing Lewis but i can't read lips very well so eh
the animation gets better and better every time, and the characters get more depth this time
It's a small, little detail in an amazingly detailed MV, but I really, really, really adore how smooth the movement here is at 4:34 where Lewis turns his foot. I don't know why this particular detail stands out to me, but it's one of those moments I think that makes you realize a lot of love and care goes into these projects, for them to animate even the little motions like this with such attention to detail

Around 4:43 if you pause at certain points you can see that Lewis' eyebrows make a gesture that can be interpreted as confused.
Now why would he show a confused expression? It could be that when Arthur mouthed/uttered Lewis' name right before he dropped him, it may have taken him by surprise. This is seen by how Lewis' left (our left) eyebrow raises up slightly higher than the right side, which is commonly used to express confusion. Arthur uttering his name evoked surprise and confusion.
My interpretation is: Lewis was confused that Arthur was shocked to find out who the ghost haunting him was. A little stretch here, but maybe Lewis thought that Arthur knew that the ghost was him all along; however, Arthur displays an expression of shock that indicates that he did not know. This in turn can indicate to Lewis that Arthur does not remember his death/murder.
A counter to my interpretation is that Lewis was simply expressing regret, because he has committed an act of murder equivalent to what Arthur did to him. Thus he grieves over the fact that he has become just like the person who betrayed him.

Not to get super deep but I think the ghosts are his emotions/subconscious
ex: in the first truck scene he's feeling three main emotions: intrigue of the extent of his powers, excitement for the revenge he will get, and worry for what he's gonna do. Then there are all the ghosts when he throws him into the truck which are mostly malicious and content but there is a worm of despair.
