Really clever cover spacing solution with the standoffs! I wouldn't have thought of that and probably would have dremeled out a slot for the ribbon cable. Using standoffs is a much more elegant, non-destructive method!
Despite the fact that the GPU is connecting through PCIE 4.0 4X it's amazing, we should expect some case manufacturers come in and produce some cases for this combination, like intel nuc.

You should try the same thing with the new AMD APU(6800u or 6800h). It has PCI-E 4.0 support which means the m.2(PCI-E 4x) will have the same bandwith capacity like the PCI-E 3.0 x8. The new ryzen mini PC is going to be a portable gaming beast.
But don't the new APU's have USB4? That should be plenty of bandwidth for an external GPU right? I don't really think you need anymore bandwidth than that.
@@deleted6052 USB4 is essentially thunderbolt 4, which is essentially thunderbolt 3, and that only provides the same theoretical bandwidth as pci gen 3 x4. Even worse, the actual bandwidth is even less than that because of some overhead with the thunderbolt controller.

Thunderbolt 3+ will also make it easier to dock and undock a mini PC from an eGPU. Hopefully we are all surprised that AMD exceeded thunderbolt 3+ specifications but I would just be happy to have some kind of docking feature.

I want this for wearable VR in a backpack with Wi-Fi and a battery. This could be the solution I have been looking for. With a portable Wi-Fi hotspot this could make a truly play anywhere VR solution.

I like the form factor of the mini PC and tempted by the HX series, having dedicated GPU means it can pump out some decent performance. Not sure what do for next PC upgrade. I’d kind of prefer to be on Mac for productivity, so I may just try GeForce now. The Mac’s have great performance and great gaming performance, especially on M4 Max. Be very interested to see the studios ultra performance as that’s likely to be a beast, also with a best of a price tag. Just the library of games letting Macs down now, otherwise the base M4 mini would be a top pic for gaming mini pc. Failing that I may get a 7840 based unit and an eternal gpu for decent PC gaming.
AMD spec says that the processor can work with LPDDR4 - Up to 4266MHz as well as the 3200. If it runs that full speed in dual channel, it would be a big performance boost. Have you seen this done? Could you try it out please?
Imagine a PCIe v4 x16 slot on top of a case, so the case becomes an artful pedestal sitting under the GPU. The size of the case would be constrained by its integrated power supply and the I/O shield of its small form factor motherboard.

I remember I made a comment on some tech video about APUs. I said it'd be cool if someday we could have high powered systems in tiny form factor pcs. And a bunch of people replied to me saying we already did in the form of consoles. No, this is what I meant but without the gpu.
The brief amount of time watching those games really messed with my eyes. I couldn't play Unreal for more than about 30 minutes at a time before I got headaches and worse. Same for Descent, Dungeon Siege, and other similar games. I have no problems with Diablo 1 and 2. I suspect it's because all of the movements are just not "natural". I've been through two typhoons in the Pacific when I was serving in the Navy and I never got sea sick, despite being on a ship that was about 570 ft long and dealing with 40-foot swells and hurricane force winds (I know people who will get sea sick just standing on a concrete pier and looking at the water). 15 minutes after the video stopped, I'm still not feeling quite right. Well, I just wanted to see how you attached that graphics card to the Beelink SER4 (I have a brand new SER5 that I'm upgrading with Crucial 64GB DDR4 3200MHz, a Crucial P3 Plus 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD, and a Seagate Baracuda 2TB 2.5" SATA HDD). I'm not going to be doing any gaming like you do on it, just mostly digitally painting realistic portraits of the characters in my books (using Corel Paintshop and Corel Painter), making presentations (in PowerPoint), creating worlds (using Campaign Cartographer 3 and Fractal Design 3), and for getting into Blender and/or Daz3D (which I'll eventually put on a graphics workstation I'll be building).

On a pcie 3.0 x4 slot, you might as well have used a 2060 or 2070. Perhaps a 2080 (3060) at most, will max out the pcie bus. If it's a pcie 4.0 x4 slot, you probably could try out a 3090, but for sure a 3080 will not be bottlenecked by it in a lot of games. Sure, an x4 slot is slower than an x8 or x16 slot, but the drop in fps should only be about 10% at most.

Elden Ring dipping is just Elden Ring being Elden Ring. Can't avoid dips even on a 3080.
Funny thing about Elden Ring, you can inject the game exe file with Vulkan API hook up.
This will reduce the GPU overdraw.

It would have been better with the 5700H so you can overclock but you have to make choices.

Try it with a used pc/laptop off of ebay, Craigslist, etc. Let's keep the total cost at 400- 500 bucks
