Romanian vampire and look was spot on and still scary.. i can see why they called him vlad the impaler.. i new it was Bill Skarsgård when i saw his eyes.. same as vlad and to pull of the mustache was amazing and new. Masterful horror movie and id say his best work ever 100/10
I’m not even a huge fan of Eggers to be honest. I think he is INCREDIBLE, the passion and attention to detail is simply rare at that level. And I did like The VVitch and The Lighthouse but I didn’t feel compelled to ever rewatch them. I’m kind of shocked so many people are mad this wasn’t more of a horror film. Like did you not know this director was never going to be about scares? His vision is bigger than that. But I truly agree that Nosferatu is a modern masterpiece. Lily Rose Depp’s physicality was just perfect. She couldn’t have improved on it, she truly used her body in every second she was possessed. Nicholas Holt was very memorable for me, in fact, before the second act, I was wondering why everyone wasn’t talking about him more (at that point I really got why everyone was talking about Lily). But he made me feel the paranoia, exhaustion, and fear. I loved the way his scenes were edited to portray the waking nightmare he was in. The cinematographer was perfect, no notes. And as for the sexual tones, I think it’s interesting some people find that so confusing. I left the theatre thinking about Stoker actually! While you’re watching Stoker, you aren’t thinking “wow India and her uncle are so hot” hahah, but the sexual undertones of their relationship are integral to the story and make it more intriguing and complex. I’m not sure why people are acting like it’s some rare concept that horror uses sex and sexuality in bizarre ways. I see a lot of shaming of that aspect of the film!
Eggers is showcasing how more modern filmmakers should approach crafting a movie. It's not just writing a script and filming, it's about capturing each and every detail perfectly. Dafoe has said multiple times that Eggers projects are his favorite ls to work because of how much he cares. I think everything about this movie was flawless. Every performance was great, the visual style was amazing, just pure perfection. I think a lot of the scrutiny of the sexual elements of the film is because society is afraid of anything sexual depicted in art, especially when it may be challenging. It's something I hope changes through the years with audiences so more compelling art about the subject can be made.
Interesting comparison to Possession because Isabelle Adjani was in Herzogs version of nosferatu..and her performance in that wasn’t anywhere close to her Possession performance..his version is good and again is his own take on the original, especially in the representation of the vampire himself as quite a sad and pathetic character in a lot of ways, but Eggers version from what little I have seen looks much more interesting visually and more if a homage to that era of film etc…can’t wait to see it
I've watched thousands of horror and horror films, and Robert Eggers' Nosferatu I can guarantee and swear, for the atmosphere of death, rot, eroticism, bloodthirstiness, Absolutely epic, scary, Great Work Magnanimous rare jewelry worthy of countless Oscar statuettes. Period and I have said yes...
I've watched thousands of horror and horror films, and Robert Eggers' Nosferatu I can guarantee and swear, for the atmosphere of death, rotten eroticism, bloodthirstiness, Absolutely epic, scary, terrifying, truly perfect and worthy retelling or remake, which surpasses any previous films of the character and the best gothic horror film in history. Great Work like Masterpiece The Magnum Opus as Magnanimous rare jewelry worthy of countless Oscar statuettes. Period and I have said yes...
This movie was overrated IMO. Didn't seem like a horror movie as much as it did a love story. Kind of boring if I'm being honest. Definitely not a masterpiece.
What movie did you watch? There’s no love story here. Orlock’s motivations are entirely carnal in nature. This is one of the rare modern vampire films where the vampire is presented as 100% unadulterated evil.
Great review! I absolutely LOVED this film. Even better than I expected.
Thanks for watching! I loved it so much!
Couldn’t agree more, i have a new favorite movie.
I can't wait to watch it a lot more in the future.
Appreciate your passion for your favorite director. Merry Xmas
Thanks for watching!
Merry Christmas 😊
Merry Christmas! Thanks for watching!
This movie reminded me of 1999s sleepy hollow in its atmosphere and storytelling
I havent seen it in a long time but I remember it having great atmosphere!
Jarin Blaschke should get his second Oscar nomination and hopefully his first win!
He most certainly deserves it!
Excellent review !! Loved the film so much!! 🤘🏻❤️
Thanks for watching! I'm ready to see it again!

I loved the look of Orlok. Eggers pays such close attention to the little details which makes him a very special director.

It’s a terrible, horrible movie.
Well not only is it not quite a masterpiece it’s not even close to being a “bad awful” movie

@ There’s nothing scary about him.
