i'm still working on my 48 hour movie. i actually forgot about it for a while so now i'm very behind schedule. i think i have like 12 hours in the bag, though
@@UncleMikki i had to change the plot a few times because the story was just kind of wrapping up with so many hours to go. so i'm using other ideas i had for other movies, and when i run out of those i am going to start "sequel" style scenes that continue earlier stories from dozens of hours ago. i figure after all 48 hours have been filmed i can put it together on the editor room floor, as they say
Great discussion. Did any of you guys notice that when Hutter is with Orlock at the castle the two statues at the sides of the fireplace slowly and almost imperceptibly turn their heads as the camera pans across them?
I had the same experience in the cinema, definitely some audience members who misunderstood the entire film. I funnily enough just did a video on Nosferatu too. Loved hearing you banter and talk about it. Great review.
It is simply the best horror film in the last decades and as a dazzlingly oppressive, magnanimous, erotically and disgustingly disgusting, perfect symphonic orchestration the best of the Of the century and even of the millennium, I have said indisputably, And ever period that's It.
I loved the vvitch when I saw it in theaters. Walking out of it, I’d heard Eggers was contracted to do a Nosferatu remake. While I thought it was odd that someone with such clear talent and vision would work on an IP, I was still excited for it due to my admiration for FW Murnau’s original. Through years of silence on this project and as he released the lighthouse and the Northman, I’d started to give up hope that we’d see the remake. But now that it’s finally here, I’m so gd impressed at his re-envisioning of the story and loved it. Definitely worth the 8 year wait.
I totally agree the pacing is flawless. I walked into it, expecting it to be overly long and a slow burn but I don’t feel there’s any fat in this film. What a masterpiece
It’s definitely a movie that seems good if you don’t think at all while watching. It’s so half assed that I couldn’t get into it at all personally. A lot of weird choices unmotivated “pretty” cinematography. Really hated this one.
i haven't watch this movie yet so i'm not leaving this comment yet. no, that does not imply that i watched the last movie you reviewed that i did leave a comment on
Maybe I'm the only one that thought this movie was boring and the acting by one particular actress was too overboard and took me right out of it. Ending was boring as well. 5/10 Hey it looked great though.
Haha, based on the comments we’ve gotten so far I feel like we’re in the minority for loving it so much. Hard disagree on the ending. I thought it was rushed, if anything. I can see why the lead’s performance could be seen as over the top, but for me it totally fit with the overall tone of the film and is standout in a film filled with fun performances. But disagreement is welcome, and we appreciate your thoughts!
Rotten Eggers made another stinker. Just kidding, mostly. I just wanted to say that since I made it up. Seriously though, I don't see what you and so many others do in Eggers' movies. I've seen them all except The Northman and they're fine. I've never felt a need to revisit any of them. I never *feel* anything watching his movies. They all leave me emotionally cold. Atun-Shei Films, in his review of The Northman here on TH-cam, said something similar. I don't like the visual style of his films either. All the performances were good and I think Nosferatu had a moustache because Transylvanian noblemen of his time would've worn them.
Nosferatu was a snoozefest for me. Nothing particularly scary or surprising happened and the performance by Lily took me right out of the movie. Instead of being a tense moment I ended up laughing. I do like how the movie was shot though, it looked and sounded really nice.

I cannot wait for your 48 hour movie Sam Bibly. It will be an artistic revolution

Yes! It creeped me the fuck out when that happened. That whole sequence was so creepy
The mustache was period correct and what he would have looked like when he was alive.
Plus, who wants to see the same thing over and over.
The mustache is sweet. Sam Slade and the other mustache haters are dorks that should be shunned and ridiculed
My favorite part of the movie was when willem Dafoe said "What is he, some sort of... Dracula?" and then it ended

That's a bit over the top, like the performances in this movie.
Nosferatu was definitely in my top three of 2024.
It's my top one of 2025 so far!
The fact that DeFoe played Orlock in "Shadow of the Vampire" tickles me no end.
Incredible movie. Best vampire film ever, in my opinion. I can't think of another one that's as consistently well-executed as this.

Planning to watch it tonight

Don't get what so many people want to see in it, sorry.
No way is that a 15, who the fk put the rating on this film?
Couldn’t get past the pronunciation of Nosferatu
We were for sure poisoned by SpongeBob as far as the pronunciation goes

I have seen it twice now, thinking both times and it is still awesome. One of my favorite adaptations of Dracula

It was really good but why wasn’t it in German if it was Germany? Just have it set in England

visually stunning. OK movie. I almost found the characters and story to be boring. Very good acting, just sort of a boring vampire movie.
masterpiece
