I checked the ground wire at the switch for continuity back to the car and negative terminal of the battery. Seems like Ground is OK. Brake lights are still on. Any thoughts on why else this is happening?
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I’ve replaced the brake light switch three times. This is the third one. I had been getting the “implausible signal” error. Now I get that code and the lights stay on.
Where is this brake light swtich located at on the master cylinder? I have a MK6 jetta that my mechanic just did a a brake job on and now the lights are staying on and the push start ignition is working without pressing the brakes
The brake light switch is underneath the master cylinder. You can find a lot of videos that show how to remove it. It’s fairly easy to do, just a tight fit.

Brake light staying on can also be due to a burnt fuse. Check in the engine bay fuse box.
