I love when cosplayers are actually able to do their characters justice, both appearance wise AND ability wise. In other words, the fact that they not only look like their characters, but can DO the things that they do in the anime is just a bonus.
My comment comes from 20 plus years of Professional Vaganova (Russian) and Checchetti method training and instructing former students who have already danced professionally. So far, I think this performance is the best I've seen for Princess Tutu. I can tell they have had training, maybe 2-3 years. This was definitely a beginner pointe level dance. Princess Tutu (Ahiru) looks as though her movement is more fluid and more turned out on pointe. I've seen other cosplayers try to mimic Princeess Tutu or Kraehe on pointe and it looks disastrous. If I was a judge, this cosplay would have scored high points because the characters performance was believable.
?. Dude, ive been dancing ballet for most of my life, and while these girls arent neccisarily the BEST pointe dancers ever doesnt mean theyre as bad as your making them out to be. Their ankles seemed strong enough to do everything they were doing, and they both have graceful arms. You gotta appreciate the loveliness of what they did without getting so critical, it ruins the experience of dance
This is definitely one of the better Princess Tutu skits I've seen. These girls obviously have some ballet training, and it really shows. They aren't pros, but they did well.
Anyone hating on this video is psycho. As a ballet dancer and a cosplayer, I have seen some scary pointe situations on princess tutus, Pearls, black swans, etc. I don't know if you can see but at least the white swan has some crazy arches and you CANNOT pique turn en pointe like they did without proper technique and strength.
Stop criticizing them! They are very good dancers. They both have graceful arms, which I've noticed a lot of really good ballerinas don't, and their arch is beautiful! And I know what I'm talking about, I've been dancing ballet for 12 years, and I've been on pointe for 4 years.
Wtf @ everyone expecting a Svetlana Zakharova performance. Clearly, they do have SOME ballet training/experience. Obviously not at a professional level, but some of these comments sound too critical for a recreational performance. Not having 180 degree turnout doesn't mean they are not dancers?
Oh my goodness, it brings tears to my eyes. Incredible! Me and my friend are cosplaying Tutu and Kraehe for our next con, I only wish we were dancers so we could do something like this!
From what I can tell, they are probably still relatively new to pointe, since I can see some weakness in their ankles and some clunkiness in their leaps and adjustments. HOWEVER, I can tell that they have had a decent amount of training on pointe since they are staying entirely on the toe box when going up and their bourre's are VERY clean. VERY impressive girls!
Oh my gosh what I would give to wear that costume and learn this variation...it looks like so much fun, I’m getting pointe shoes soon, I’ve been strengthening for years! I know I couldn’t do anything as crazy as this in pointe shoes yet but I could on flat! They looked so beautiful out there! 😍
Wow! This was lovely! Their ankles looked a little weak for pointe, but it was still a good skit. I'm glad they could pull it off without getting hurt. But what I really love is the characterization you see in the dance! It really felt like Kraehe and Ahiru to me in their movements. They did a wonderful job!
Beautiful cosplay. I love ballet, I love cosplay, and I love princess tutu I actually want to ask my teacher if we can do something similar with princess tutu and make it into a actual dance, so yeah this is awasome 😁
I really like the anime and this seems incredibly hard to do so props to them for such an amazing job. Though to admit the song choice isn't my favorite but it's ok. Also they look very strong and cool.
I watched the series and reviewed everything but there's a burning question that hasn't been answered. If fakir loves ahiru but ahiru's a duck isn't kind of beasteality?
I see your point, and it is dangerous for them to do pointe if they are not ready but isnt it just great that they went through all that trouble just to show someone their avid love for a great anime ^-^? And despite their lack of skill I thought it was a touching performance !
wow...this was done very well if I didn't know any better then I would say the characters from the anime came to our world were dancing up there XD but that's not the case. they may not be pros of ballet but they did a good job
Anyone can buy pointe shoes, but it's a good way to hurt yourself if you are not currently under proper training structure... If these girls had proper training they'd know to straighten their legs and to use their arches instead of their knees to hold them up, and they also have little to no turn out. It's cool that they are a part of the fandom, but it's one thing to like a character, and entirely another to pose as a dancer when you are not.
TheFrecklesmcg I'm not a ballerina so I don't really know a whole lot about this, but I heard it takes years of training to be able to stand on your toes like that. That's why i didn't really question it.
+no t cool What I'm saying is that it's very evident to dancers that they haven't had the training to do it properly, i. e. they aren't all the way over their toe shoes, they are not using straight legs and correct turnout of the legs. It's very possible they might get a stress fracture in their metatarsals doing this. Not to mention, it's offensive to dancers who have had years of training to do it correctly that they think they can slap on pointe shoes and just do it.
I have been training in ballet for 7 years and I am just now beginning to go on pointe ( mind you I'm 13) I have barely even sewn my shoes. I honestly love the anime and appreciate the tribute to princess tutu, but they honestly should be more careful.
Well it seemed that they had the training, maybe they've just started, because if they were just fans buying Pointe shoes they wouldn't have been able to stand so long, or keep their balance, but If they are fans then I appreciate the effort, but yes, they could have injured themselves pretty bad
yesss agreeed like throughout the whole dance i was wondering why they didn't straighten their knees or use proper turnout (and btw, no offense, i was kind of crying at their arches and pique turns "sweatdrops")
I love when cosplayers are actually able to do their characters justice, both appearance wise AND ability wise. In other words, the fact that they not only look like their characters, but can DO the things that they do in the anime is just a bonus.

This. Holy fuck it's a shit storm on here.

Oh my goodness, it brings tears to my eyes. Incredible! Me and my friend are cosplaying Tutu and Kraehe for our next con, I only wish we were dancers so we could do something like this!
Holy shit this is all kinds of awesome, actual ballerina dancers cosplaying Princess Tutu @_@
I really wish they could do a live action of this anime with real ballet dancers ❤️
VERY impressive girls!
oh this is AWESOME, they did tutu and kraehe justice!! they were very graceful and each character had her unique style shine through!!

Anime + ballet + cosplay + defy your destiny (desafiar tu destino) = glory
A masterpiece to see a cosplay and interpretation like this, it is unusual.

Anyone else was scared that they would fall? That floor looks so slippery.... But still they were good :)
I think they put a lot of resin in and on their shoes before they went, but even then, the floor looks damn slippy. :(
This is possibly the best cosplay performance I've ever seen!

Can anyone tell me what version of the Swan Lake song this is called? I'm really in love with it and can't find it anywhere.
It's called "The Agonists - Swan Lake"
