I’m glad to see you enjoyed the video - thank you for the comment. In regards to cover, typically it’s mainly down to line of sight of seeing the entire unit, or whether you are touching/wholly within the terrain feature (like ruins or craters for example). It’s certainly a lot easier to receive the benefit of cover than previous editions, that’s for sure. It’s thankfully a lot simpler than last edition, but the next rules based video I do will be on this topic to help out. But you’ll be able to find all of the terrain rules on pages 44-48 in the core rules (either the book or the downloads section of the Warhammer community website which a link is in the video description for )
Hey - not as of yet I'm afraid. It's in the planning process as part of a larger start playing 40K series I'm trying to do. Sorry it hasn't come out sooner! If you have any specific questions do let me know and I'd be happy to answer them.
No problem at all, glad you found it helpful! During games I’ve been having to look up regularly what certain abilities are so thought that I can’t be the only one that does this!
Sorry I should have put this into the video, but for clarity they do get all of the keywords when a character joins a unit. So for example if you attach a Librarian to a unit, that unit now has the Psyker keyword making [anti-psyker] weapons now work against the entire unit. There is some information about this in the rules commentary on the 40K downloads page on Warhammer community if you wanted some more clarification. Hope that helps 👍
The Feel No Pain description you gave is wrong. You don't need to get over the value of X. It's enough to get equal to it. A 6+ doesn't need a 7 on a D6 for example, so it's actually useful. Great video though
Gonna ask here as well, since at this point I'm probably gonna e-mail GW them selves for clarification. Scouts X with a Dedicated Transport. I put a Scout squad (Scouts 6") in to an Impulsor (M 12"). So how far can the Impulsor move? Does it move up to 6" or 12"? This is still one of the most confusing things in the Core rules for me. Cause the way it's worded is very vague. The part about ending a move more than 9" from any opposing unit makes me assume that it can move up to it's M stat, being 12". Even on small game mode maps like Kill team or Combat patrol (30x44), you would still end up 12" in and 9" away in most cases. But, again, the thing is so vaguely worded, that I never try doing this, just to avoid hour long disputes about core rules. . .
In your example, the scout move is still limited to the amount of distance from the scout squad’s specific scout rule even if they are in a dedicated transport that has a movement characteristic that technically moves further. If the transport also had its own scout move distance that was further I you’d then take the larger value. As the scout move is a different type of movement (pre-game) to that you’d do in your movement phase, it’s separate to the move characteristic on the datasheet of the units. Hope that helps clarify it.
THANK YOU!!!! Every single other video ive seen that tries to teach you how to play without fail always play for you to watch and they always just say a certain unit has a keyword and they no ever ever tell you what the keyword means. It's infuriating trying to learn how to play when they just say a unit has some keyword and then just assume you know what it means. Also never explain how your commanders change your armies' attributes. Never once have i seen one that explains the differences of moving and advancing. Always tell you to draw cards for your objective but never tell explain what you're suppose to do or when points are awarded. Never explain when you earn CPs. What conditions need to be met when trying to hold or take an objective. They are absolutely worthless tutorials without explaining this stuff. I was on the verge of just never learning to play and stick to painting. Thank you.
I’m so glad to hear my video was helpful to you and sorry that it’s been a painful process trying to learn this game from other videos. It’s a fairly complex game to get into and to be fair, my aim for this channel is to create videos for beginners, where others may well be continuing from previous editions and take certain pieces of information for granted. I’m happy to hear that you still want to learn to play and if there are any tutorials/videos you’d like to see covered, or any questions you may have please feel free to reach out and I’ll do my best to help you.
If you go to the warhammer community website under the warhammer 40,000 downloads section there should be a quick reference guide which has them all on.
I'm glad you found it helpful, and noted about the noise. It's something I've toned down in in the latest videos so will keep in mind while editing future ones. Thanks
Super well made and helpful video as always!
Thank you for your kind words, I’m glad you found it helpful! 🙂
Thanks for the info, but I found the sound effect for the text appearing suuuuper distracting
No problem and thank you for the feedback, I’ll take that into consideration for the next video I make 👍
Great Work bro keep it up!
Thank you - I really appreciate that!
Great quality vid! New to the game and am having trouble with Terrain and determining benefit of cover.

Was this rules video ever made?@@TheCommandPhase

This has been really helpful, keep it up ;)

One thing I cant find anywhere. A good description of how keywords interact if a leader joins a unit. Do both get both sets of keywords??
Sorry I should have put this into the video, but for clarity they do get all of the keywords when a character joins a unit. So for example if you attach a Librarian to a unit, that unit now has the Psyker keyword making [anti-psyker] weapons now work against the entire unit.

@@TheCommandPhase Yes, thank you. I thought as much, "Scout" being a specific unit ability and not a keyword.
@TheCommandPhase reading through the update with friends, someone pointed out that the update actually clarifies this a lot clearer now.
Thank you

Hello. Where can I find all the keywords as a list?
If you go to the warhammer community website under the warhammer 40,000 downloads section there should be a quick reference guide which has them all on.
Your video is very informative but for the love of God get rid of the scrolling text noise, it was incredibly distracting.
