Visakhapatnam Beachfront Redevelopment Master Plan

Through the ‘Andhra Pradesh Disaster Recovery Project” (APDRP) project, the GOI and Govt of A.P. attempt to restore damages incurred by Hud Hud Cyclone while improving the resilience of infrastructure and communities from impacts of future disasters and climate change. The project involved a comprehensive resilience-based master plan for the 40 km long beachfront and its adjoining areas in the city of Visakhapatnam, the total area of master plan measuring to approx. 26 Sq. Km. The project strives to achieve a beachfront master plan design that offers Restoration; Redevelopment; Recreation with design that enables public engagement in form of recreational activities and planning; offers appropriate interventions that will mitigate the future risks from hazards and; offers an integrated beachfront redevelopment strategy. The master plan is strongly based on detailed baseline assessments, surveys and stakeholder engagements.
