Extreme Rescue Misson at a 150 Year Old Abandoned Gold Mine!

- Rick Sr found this 150 year old abandoned gold mine on a remote Arizona ranch 40 years ago, and has always had the dream of saving the old ore cart. Now all these years later his son owns @MURPHYSDIESEL and has built Hellboy, one of the most capable off road wreckers in existence, and they decided that it was time to make the recovery attempt. The original plan was to sky line it out of there yarder style, which is something that I've done quite a few times, so Rick invited me down to join along on the recovery. I jumped on th offer and flew down to Northern Arizona to join in. Once we got down to the mine we realized that it was farther down than we thought and we didn't have enough line to use the yarder technique, we built a sled out of some of the timbers on site and used the winches on Hellboy to skid it up out of the canyon.
Now the the ore cart has been saved, it's going to be put on display at the ranch headquarters to help preserve the history of one of the nations biggest cattle ranches.

I love the fact Murphy’s family was with em. From his Pops , wife and daughters. See thats what life used to be. Mom and Dad going on an adventure and everyone invited to haves a great day. Casey has now turned me on to two new TH-camrs. Murphy which I already knew of but never really watched (now I will) and Zach from Jerry rig everything. Both stand out men in my eyes
I love that he brought his daughter on the adventure.
"Do you think we can get it?" [short pause] "Yeah."
I took the short pause before replying as, "Why the heck are you asking?" ;)
If you have a bad idea…Call Casey he’s game 😎
Go check out Murphy’s Diesel for some of the best heavy duty towing and off road recovery on TH-cam!
hey casey, have you ever been to cerro gordo mine in california? youtube channel " ghost town living" i'm sure you would enjoy it :)
Ask a cowboy and let them “Google it”. Those were some REAL TOUGH cowboys!
Wrecker Rick in the crew are definitely some kick ass dudes. Appreciate you turning me on to them a while back Casey they definitely create some good content.
ya people kindof think arizona is mostly a flat desert but that's far from it. we have 3 different climate zones and alot of towns above 5,000ft elevation & where I live is just over 8,000ft elevation in lakeside/pinetop area in the white mountains of Arizona and Murphys towing services pretty much the northern half of the state here from the Nevada side to the otherside that borders with New Mexico and every big and small town in between running across the old route 66/ i-40 they have several yards spread out across the state making them fast and reliable when you need them plus they don't play games a perfect example of what a family owned and ran business should be
It could get Western.
Don't forget to finger bang your competition.
Casey, you are on The Babbitt Ranch. I am now 79 years old, and I had an uncle who was Foreman on the ranch and a cousin who was killed along with his horse on the ranch when they were washed down stream in a monsoon flooded creek. And, just a few months ago, I had another cousin just retire from being the foreman on the ranch.
Very Cool.
Nope, Diamond A ranch
Thanks Casey, I didn’t know Diamond A was that big. The numbers you stated in the video are the same on the Babbitt Ranch web site the last I looked.
@@CaseyLaDelle Is Diamond A Ranch different than X Diamond Ranch? Then there is John Wayne's 26 Bar Ranch aka the Hereford Ranch owned by the Mars Family (Mars Candy Company) In the 1940's it was known as the Milky Way Hereford Ranch.
If Matt hasnt done anything.. he has brought the wrecker community together🎉
Sparked controlled competition, but with that came comraderie.. and knowin they DO have friends they can call.. that is worth everything!
Good Job fellas and fellets
I LOVE wrecker Rick! One of my favorite channels.
That ranch must be nearly 1200 square miles! Thanks Casey and Wrecker Rick for collaborating on this gem of an outdoor adventure. Hellboy for the win on that terrain definitely.
750,000 acres (* 0.0015625) is 1,171.88 sq. miles (their 500k deeded acres is 781.25 sq. miles). Unreal that such a ranch still exists today.
My personal opinion... running cows in the desert or near desert is spittin' in mother nature's eye. There's reasons it takes 1200 sq miles to run a big herd... it's really inefficient. I'd say it's a waste of resources, but honestly the land's not good for much else, and that's the reason it works.
150 acres per cow and they still need supplements. Here in Florida we can feed them for about 3 acres each. We could run that same herd on less than 12,000 acres
Super large ranch for the US! I lived in the Queensland Outback in the 1960s. Our friend's station (ranch) was about 25 miles out of town and was 4500 square miles. Took a minimum of 7 acres to support 1 sheep and 49 acres per cow, so the stations had to be large.
Doing the math avatar cowboys Australian ranch would be a little less than 3 million acres! wow
Casey, Thanks for taking me along. Beautiful Scenery.
Now for something completely different! Thanks Casey, very cool and old school putting it on the log sledge to drag it up the mountain. Enjoying the variety or channel brings!
I've had to drag a couple vehicles out that way but never that steep or far
LOVE THE COLLABORATION. GREAT CHANNEL. GOOD PEOPLE.
After he offered to fix your truck, I knew you two would have to get together.
What an exceptional treat to see this "Titanic" raised while Dad is still vertical. He must be over the moon with joy. Love you POP. Also, nice to see my buddy Casey join in the hunt. He's one incredible dude. And an unbelievable technician as well. Last but not least is Mrs. Wrecker Rick and the little one's as well. I don't know how you sleep at night with such beautiful children. You are truly Blessed, in every way Rick. A beautiful wife, gorgeous children, a Vibrant Dad and surrounded by loyal and dedicated employees. You are so blessed Mr. Murphy. So very blessed......
That stirrup step entry is really a cool feature!
Casey you are a Great HISTORY Buff. It's Good that there are some younger people still interested in our history. That was one heck of a trip down to get it up out of there!
Good morning Casey this was definitely a interesting video. A great way to get exercise.
You guys got the job done is all that matters
Glad to see your first aid kit was on your back. Never go anywhere without some bottled water. That Shell station had plenty of portable liquids for sale.
Thanks for taking me along on your adventure...😊
A funny thing happened. Two days ago I just came across a Murphy's Diesel video of "Hell Boy" pulling "Pete the Bus" out of trouble. I had never heard of "Murphy's Diesel" before, so what a coincidence this is seeing you working with Rick and Hell Boy. (I love that truck). Well done everyone involved, great job.
Ditto, popped up in my feed last night.

Welcome to Northern AZ.....👍👍👍
Another good show Casey, thank you for bringing us along!
A good job done by them there cow boys, And you Casey.
Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone! Casey, love all your videos and loved that you went and collaborated with Wrecker Rick and his crew. You all stay safe out there!
What a fun change of pace! Hellboy is a helluva rig.
Great job and video. Glad y’all got to work together.
it is always so cool to see all the youtubers from that region of the United Staes as friends and enjoying working and playing together... Another good video Casey
That vehicle is an engineering marvel. Nice job all.
As I have said before, never a dull moment with Casey 😉 And you never know what he will recover next or where or who will be with him or he will be with. This was another fine example of a recovery done right.
Casey also is a good teacher. He taught Rick and others there about proper rigging using Yankum Rope and Recovery gear. (algorithm). Heck, I even learned a thing or two but can't ever afford anything synthetic.
You should carry a plumb bob that you can dangle in front of the camera to show the steepness.
I saw the steepness in this video. Hot Rod was standing by the cart and Casey was uphill or hopefully up wind from him. Junk food farts with a garlic push no smelly good.
And Happy Memorial Day weekend to everybody!
Very cool and fun thanks 👍👍👍👍👍😊
Great collaboration with Wrecker Rick and his crew. Kool Wrecker he has. 🤙😎
I love a good recovery mission! Well done Casey and Murphy diesel.
What about the men that put that there a 150 years ago? All they had was animals and determination! And nobody brought a gold pan. 🙏🙏👍💪
I just said same thing on Murphys Diesel video.. donkeys and horses.😮😮😮😊😊😊😊
It's really incredible when you think of what humans have been capable of moving and building for centuries without modern machines. I just watched this video about a man who has spent the last 40 years building a castle in Colorado by himself, with only his hands and an old pickup truck to haul the rocks he collected. The man dropped out of school in 8th grade but has managed to build this enormous castle by hand that includes iron stairs, iron bridges/walkways and a huge dragons head he created by using thousands of flattened steel buffet trays as scales. It's called Bishop's castle, and really that's the type of person they should be teaching kids about in schools. Show them what one man can accomplish with hard work and determination...a strong back helps too!😄
@@BulletProofSoul1029 too many people crying and playing victim these days. 🙏🙏👍💪

@@craigwhittingslow9689 Because they don't have any real work to do.
Great job who all that was involved in recovering😊
Love it when channels collab! Need more of it!! Casey should of brought Ben from 406 garage!
the Power of youtube is definitely freedom.
Casey,
Thanx for sharing your Great experience with Rick Of Murphys , I watch his videos like yours always appreciate your time and Videos
Have a Great Day 👍
The ore cart is a Great find of Rick Sr. Pretty Cool 😎
Thank you for another great video. Thank you for this collaboration. It raises viewership for both channels.
Thank you for taking us along on your beautiful adventure.
That was quite an adventure! Started watching @MURPHYSDIESEL when I saw Hellboy at the Wrecker Games. What a beast of a rig that is!
Great job good to see you and wrecker Rick working together
Always nice to see something different. Ricks truck is a beast.
Great video, Casey love all the shenanigans you do keep them coming
You 2 are a perfect match.
Casey, the "Boyz" and all their "Toyz" tally up to one "Ore Cart" Priceless-Cha-Ching!
Great video Casey and I think you should do more things with other U-Tube people. That's what teamwork is all about. Best part was you working with Rick Sr. He is a very intelligent man and tough for his age.
Great video, Casey! You and Wrecker Rick are 2 of my favorite TH-camrs.
Love this one AZ and NM have a lot in common when it comes to landscape. This reminds of the Jemez Mtns in Central NM
Great views . You got to have one of the best jobs and life. Thanks
This reminds me of Ed and his golden nugget car on Matt’s channel. Both were in a really challenging situation, both men had been thinking about each thing for a long time, and both eventually saw it get pulled out because of the amazing vehicles used and good men willing and able to work really hard to get it done! Great job by all involved!! 👌👏👍
Welcome to my world,,
its the same in SW UT @ 6000 ft as it is there nothing but Mountains mine shafts and Rocks, scrub brush and Old ass cedar tree's..
And 75 miles to town.
Great job rescuing old iron, historic equipment
Outstanding content! I watched this on Rick's channel but had no idea the the steepness or degree of difficulty involved in the operation. True testament to the tenacity of all involved including the flora and fauna to be able to grow and function and and be able to withstand the abuse given to the environment in which it grew and then assisted in the actual recovery by being able to be drug up and over the rocky landscape. Loved how you spliced in the where the actual recovery took place and showed the recovery from afar!
This was a great vid. Shows what cooperation and hard work can accomplish.
that's what a good day looks like
Great crossover video.
What gets me is how the miners picked that one spot out of all of that space and said I’ll dig here.
Great job. Good to see you hanging out with WR team!!
Thanks
Casey you need to hire that guy with all the snacks. LOL another great video.
Welcome to Arizona! It's an initiation that newcomers have to go through here...getting cactus somewhere in your body. For me, it was my in backside when I sat on a wall 40+ years ago and scooted too close to the prickly pear that was growing on the other side.
Man I got to give you guys credit you go through some hellacious Adventures but it makes for outstanding video very very interesting I love it
Looked like you were riding with ZZ Top...headin' for LaGrange!
Cream cheese and Canadian bacon was my favorite grazing food at work
Thanks Casey for the views of the country on the other side of the world. I’ve been catching up on your snow videos also - a great way to spend a rainy day in Tasmania. 🤗🎶😃
Good morning Casey.
Awesome video. So glad yall got together. I love both channels 🎉🎉❤❤❤
Great video, thanks! Maybe clean the cart up a little and give it some thin gold plating? Not enough gold for someone passing through to steal it; just to add to the effect.
Everybody seemed to work well together!
Wow, quite an ordeal for a fantastic piece of history, but well worth it. Great job everybody.😊
VERY interesting that you just happen to be working with Murphy's Diesel. One of their recent videos popped up in my feed just yesterday for the first time, and I watched it (recovery of a tour bus deep in the woods...). 👍 Never heard of them before.
I'm sure that there will be complainers about the length, but I personally loved the whole thing!
Thanks for all your effort to bring us this piece of western history. Because of your energy in this video, I felt obligated to continue to watch. Otherwise my "Fear Of Missing Out" could kick in!
Casey, I love your
channel and Murphys Diesel---So glad
you guys are
together on video. I
was just wondering
if Denairo and the
Taco made it? Then
there he is!!!
Casey where's your cowboy hat? BOOTS?
Who is the Taco? I know of Denerio and Hot Rod.
Awesome Collaboration. Murphys Diesel is Awesome
One of your BEST of All Time Recovery's
It was fascinatibg to hear you say and to see Hell Boy working in a crabbing manner. I instantly understood, having watched many planespotting videos of jet aircraft doing exactly that when landing in a crosswind 😊.
What a great project in stunningly beautiful country. Pinon seeds, as we called them growing up in the Southwest, were a very special treat. After moving to California years later, it took a while before I realized what they called pignolias out here and sold for crazy prices were just pinon seeds 😂. Of course, they weren't cheap way back when, either!
Class act from everyone involved, hardly anybody does anything motivated besides monetary gain. My respect goes to everyone involved
I like stuff like this, a little history, a little brains, a little brawns, a little work, and great people.
You can definitely tell you're on a slop I think you're doing an awesome job with Rick.I really like Murphy's toeing also I watch him a lot.And I watch you keep up the good work
Living in Northern AZ is awesome
Hope you come back to visit again.. great collaboration, love it
A stirrup! Ingenius!
WOW. quite the cool job there…. The scenery in the high deserts of Arizona are just spectacular. Great vid man. Keep it up.
What a beautiful, fun and rewarding adventure.
You saved a piece o history. Looked like some hard bushwacking though. Great vid..
That's awesome that you finally went and got that cart.
Beautiful scenery
Definetly awesome views.
Great job and ausome country. Beautiful view from on top. What a towing machine and an animal. Will have to go on their website. Good job as always Casey.
I would think a working ranch with cowboys you could have just road a couple horses and mules down with some bridles and rigging and drug it out with them, but than this is a towing channel so what fun would that be lol. Great video
That’s awesome you went to help. Welcome to Arizona 😊
DOTs are definitely my favorite pretzels. All their seasonings hit nicely on the taste buds
Welcome to AZ some of the most beautiful country in the USA! Cowboys for the win!!! Some of the Hardest Working people I know!
It's not hard work when you love what you do I prefer it to being an iron worker bull rider or the guys who risk their body to save the idiot that fell off the bull
I have , or had a old ore cart from a gold mine in Az, it was hauled up to Oregon welded to the back bumper of the school bus we were traveling in. I left it at my farm when I moved, too damn heavy to move. Love the old iron.😊
WHAT A GREAT ADVENTURE !!!!!! Thanks for sharing it !!!
I enjoyed the video. I am amazed at cell coverage out in middle of nowhere. Very cool. Things we do for our Dad's.
Pine nuts are delicious, my gramps & dad introduced me to them while on the mountains looking for missing goats. Also my mom use to bake them into bread. So delicious.
You can find the shelled version at Costco. Sure, would make a really good ice cream flavor. Put a tarp or a blanket under a Pinion Tree and shake the branches to remove the nuts. Yum Yum!
Ask Google how to spell the pine nut, (pinyon, pinon).
