    We’ve visited Little French Key twice, can’t recommend it enough. I’ve seen people swimming with jaguars there (not snorkeling LOL). The owner is a Scuba diver who cares about the coral reef. Whole staff is great.
    One cruise we did a Catamaran Day Trip splitting it with other passengers arranged ahead of time... WOW that was superb. The ‘Free Radical’ was the ship but there are a few outfits offering a fun well-fed day and back to the cruise port on time.
    OK back to binging your videos and daydreaming about cruising... 🥺

    I am so so happy I found yalls channel. Taking our first cruise to Cozumel, Belize, and Mahogany Bay in July (was supposed to be Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Montego Bay but was changed due to COVID, I’m guessing). Anyways I’ve been almost anxious at the thought of being lost and not knowing what to do. Yalls videos have made me feels TONS better and have made my planning so much easier. I feel like I have a great sense of what to expect and look for in each port. Thank you!!!

    It will be interesting to see how crowded the free beach gets. I think this is one of the few stops where we aren’t really making any solid plans.
    One of my coworkers said you can kind of just go to the Taxi area and get a tour around the island for like 40$ a person. So might do that, sounds pretty similar to what you both did.

    I went to Maya Key on my first ever cruise 2 years ago. But not for the snorkeling. I went for the beach, pool and guided replica Mayan ruins & animal sanctuary tour. I enjoyed it. They limit how many can be there, and it was such that every travel party had their own table for lunch, which is included. But beware of sand flies, especially during the summer.

    Hey guys, enjoyed your port guide video on Mahogany Bay. One thing you mentioned was that the snorkeling was just OK. Didn't know if you knew it and it may be different now since I haven't been since 2016. If you keep going over to the left of the beach there is a pier on the other side of that pier is fantastic snorkeling. I hope they have not changed it. It is one of the reasons I have really wanted to go back to mahogany Bay.

    Hey Dee & Jay I have a question for you. Just saw this vlog & informative. My question is there a “shuttle of sorts from the ship pier over to the port? My husband & I have mobility issues but won’t be renting a scooter or anything. I realize there are taxis outside of the port but I hear this is a long pier. We have several ports will be headed to as we are doing a B2B. Any info would be helpful. Idk if I would get the answers here directly or do I have to check back?? Maybe on your fb page tag me or something. Thank so much!

    • @parodeejay
      @parodeejay  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know, Mahogany Bay is privately owned by Carnival Corp, so you would need a Carnival ship card to access the shops, beach, anything inside the security area of the port. Most other lines dock at nearby Coxen Hole when visiting Roatan, which we haven't been to yet.

    • @parodeejay

      From the ship to the center of the shopping area is typically about 1000 feet, and then we'd estimate another 1600 feet from there to the beach, so however long it takes for her to walk approximately half a mile.

      You can, but many times it's what they call a "souvenir" passport stamp, which supposedly can invalidate your whole passport, so we've never risked it. If you can locate an actual government run office, then it's safe enough, and there usually is one at the port.

  • @jasonsimmons6684
    @jasonsimmons6684 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I hope that they don't change the rules, as I've heard they are discussing, to where you can not do your own thing at port stops. I've heard they are looking at not allowing people off the ship unless you have booked with the cruise line, in regards to covid 19. That will ruin cruising I'm afraid.

    • @parodeejay
      @parodeejay  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right, we've put a halt on making new "port guide" episodes until we hear of some firm guidelines, since it does *seem* that (at least when cruising first resumes) you'll be required to source excursions through the cruise line, or just stay on the ship. We shall see!!

    I dont want to upset you all or fellow cruisers, but you might want to read this…
    You should never hold a sloth.
    It can cause the sloth undue distress.
    There has been research done that shows that sloths definitely do not like being held. When they are held, their heart rates increase and they are visibly more alert, indicating that being held by people can be very distressing and disorienting.
    I hope this isnt true. Ty
