That was definitely entertaining with all the different designs and colors. Even my 3 year old sat and watched the whole video with me! She normally will ONLY watch Cocomellon so that’s a big deal! She even got mad when I had to pause it for a minute. 😂 Also, you should use a vibratory tumbler on some of them. It works great on my Malawi agates.
hopefully you can make a video cutting open an agate from indonesian 🙏🏻 , i'm verry happy and motivated to rockhounding in my river after watch your videos, and it's verry interesting to me
@agatedad I would maybe look into dop sticks. For the ones that actually have a face, and not geodes, you can apply the stick to the cut surface face, and grind down the back flat. That's also just a good way to polish small stones on wheels like you have on your cab king. They'd make good cabs/pendants. Whether you want to work then is up to you tho. I'd say as cool as most of them are, you could definitely sell them as materials to a metalsmith or jeweler
My 5yr old daughter asked me to buy her a saw so she can cut rocks like Agate Dad. She absolutely loves watching you find, cut, and polish all the amazing rocks and minerals.
I was reading the comments so i don't want to repeat what people have said , key rings maybe for some of your keepers , and instead of throwing the ones you don't like , you could maybe set them in concrete and make stepping stones with them for the garden or a wall plaque maybe . it was an enjoyable watch , thank you and love from Scotland
Crafty people could use some of those agates in different projects. Sell them in your shop. This was a very interesting video. I've never seen agates that small !!
The little geodes would be great for people who make doll houses/miniature rooms. People into miniature things could use these - a scale-model glass-front cabinet filled with a miniature rock collection.
I love tiny things. I really was interested as each cut agate was different! I could see a beautiful pair of earthy earrings from each one. You never can tell what will be perfect for someone's clothing! Thanks for all the hard work!
Sellers can fix the size issue very easily. Just add a ruler for scale with inches and centimeters in one of the pictures. I don't know why more sellers don't do this. It's like rule #1 for selling minerals online. Also, thanks for sharing the cutting process. Agates are always full of surprises! There were definitely some neat ones in that lot.
I would challenge the EBay seller about the truth about the size of the agates misrepresentation. He should have been totally honest. Trust once broken is hard to repair. 😢. I was brought up to a good person. My parents good folks. ❤❤
I bought a bunch of rocks from China, and for the most part, they were OK. But I did notice that whoever's hands were in the pictures, were the size of a child's hand compared to mine. So the rocks were a LOT smaller than the pictures looked IN EVERY CASE! But they really skunked me on SURYA AGATES. I don't know if they are a real breed of agates or not, but IN EVERY CASE the pictures were jacked up and didn't look like the real deal. The pictures showed bright bands of orange, yellow and red, but the real stones were dull and mostly brown. My son thinks the pics were taken under UV light, but this was NOT disclosed in the listings. I had bid on quite a few and bid fairly high, trusting that the pics were accurate. I did put up a fuss and got partial refunds from 2 dealers, but I quit bidding because you never know what you are going to get. I'm on a fixed income and can't afford to be hoodwinked. Their excuses were pathetic! The pics were taken after they were put through a sonic washer, so that made the pics look brighter. And Oh, when they are polished, they'll look brighter. Really? Plus they were selling Cinnabar in both powdered and mineral form without any warnings whatsoever. And it's ILLEGAL to ship it in America. If you don't know, Cinnabar is MERCURY SULFIDE, an extremely toxic poison. As for your agates, I'm not surprised that they were so small. And dyed! I would ask for a partial refund on the deceptive size alone! But I do have an idea for you. Keep in mind that I don't have any polishing equipment myself, but it seems that they would be good candidates for the flat lap. Or a dremel. And they would make lovely earrings! I especially love the geodes that look like hearts!
This was fun to watch. I couldn't help but think some of those would make some cute dangling earrings. You would only have to polish the fronts and let the sides and backs be natural. Course, they look tiny on tv, they might be too big for that. Thanks for sharing all of these, it was fun to watch.
I wouldn't be so disappointed. These are some of my favorite agates in the world. I know exactly where they come from, and I would be *extremely* surprised if those were dyed. They go by 3 different trade names, but come from the same volcano along the border of China & Mongolia. They are mostly collected from a location in Xuanhua, Hebei, China. The smaller ones are much more affordable, but the price rises exponentially with the size of the nodule. They are commonly known as; - Bloody Battle Agates - Chinese Fighting Blood Agates - Warring State Agates I like to make tiny slices & turn them into earrings & small pendants.
I agree these would make amazing earrings or pendants. You could also sell them as pairs in the raw state to allow people to practice their own polishing skills. We really love watching your content and are so uplifted by how much joy this 'hobby' brings you.
They may not be much, but this was really Entertaining! Have a variety of experiences is one of the things that makes what you do so interesting. The best things are your comments and reactions. Cheers, Rik Spector
❤ Thanks for all the time you put into this video despite the disappointing advertising. I want to add that towards the end, there were 2 sweet geodes that were pink/purple and you tapped them together 😂😅! I think you should keep at least one half. Thanks for sharing this unique video! Your yard looks amazing and so does Bentley!❤😊
Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder! I loved these tiny little guys. I’ve always been drawn to miniatures and have a shadow box with miniatures from all over the world. I never tire of seeing them. And I love rock hounding, so the two combined is heaven. I live in a relatively small space so I have small containers such as baskets, pottery, ceramic, wood, etc around on my coffee or end tables, on bookshelves, my nightstand or wherever, that hold my rocks, sea shells, and other interesting small things. I love to move them around and I will pull various rocks out just to examine and enjoy and marvel at. These little guys are perfect for that. Even the duds were fascinating and beautiful to me. They can also be used in art pieces such as accenting on driftwood or sea shell displays, even in fairy gardens. I put some sea shells and rocks in flower pots with plants and enjoy the flowers and rocks at the same time. Share these on your Etsy store. You might be surprised at the ones you think are duds, others see as miraculous and incredibly beautiful. I did. Keep up the great work.
1:30 i can't stand dyed rocks 😭 i went to a gift shop and saw a huge, BEAUTIFUL water line agate... dyed purple. I could feel a year get shaved off my life and my hairline recede as I stared at it
Taylor, please let us know what you end up doing with them it will be interesting. Thank you for the wonderful videos you post. I’ve been through a major spinal surgery 10 weeks ago and your channel has helped keep me sane !!! I never knew that rocks had such hidden beauty they’re beautiful. It’s a whole world I didn’t know existed. I’m binge watching my way through all your episodes. Many thanks and best wishes from Australia 🐨🦘🐃
I have had back surgery in the past. I had not yet met Agate Dad. But now that I have, hubby and I are now educated and entertained. We have several long reach gizmos that were for around the house pickups. That reacher works for picking up rocks too. Happy healing.
That was still a cool video even if the cutting was tedious for you! It will be interesting to see what you decide to do with the one's that you decided to keep!
If they don't have a lot of fractures, I would say they are prime candidates for the gemstone treatment. I'd like to see you use them to make a video demoing dop sticks.
I don’t know how you cut something that small. Some of them were amazing and too bad they were so small. I agree with most, earring, pendants, bracelets, etc or charms for crafts projects. Thanks for sharing. Love your puppers!!
So I’m a hobby jeweler, and there’s quite a few really nice pieces in here. My recommendations would be some wire-wrapping on some of them, and do earrings, keychains, and you could even do chunky rings on some of them. If you still have any of the broken pieces, and they look interesting or have maybe some tiny crystals, you can put those into tiny glass bottles with some moss or sand from Lake Superior or something like that and make earrings or necklaces. There are some that would make really nice cabochons if you can manage; 16:52 is much my vote for that, if you can keep some of the dark matrix on it, it’d be really striking. I don’t know what goes into stone cutting, though, as my lapidary knowledge is minuscule.
I think that the pretty and interesting small agates (ok, teensy weensy) could be sold or given to artists who wrap stones in silver or gold wire - some can make beautifully intricate designs from the wire as well as a lovely piece of jewelry, such as a pendant or earrings. That way the agates are admired and cherished and seen by many. We all love watching you in my family! You're kind, calm, and have a very positive attitude - you're one of the best TH-camrs to watch with the kids!
TAYLOR - You could make a pretty cool wall mount in picture frame with a bunch of the good ones. Hot glue them onto a panel and place them in a frame. Don't even polish them - spray them with a clear coat after mounting them.
I just wanted to thank you! I've been watching your channel on TV and commending you on cutting and showing us the agates from all over!! CHINESE AGATE EARRINGS! Polish fronts only. Put a hole on top, hang from earring. I'd wear them. So cute they are. Sorry you got mis- sold, mis- advertised. OH MY GOSH!!! I JUST SAW THE ONE THAT LOOKS LIKE A ROSE!!! I WANT THAT SET!!! THanks again!
There's some pretty nice little geodes in there, i have a few like that given to me as a little kid by my grand parents and they are some of the most cherished pieces in my collection. Maybe instead of cutting them all, separate out the light ones for cutting and tumble the rest with coarse grit until they start showing some interesting patterns and colors.
The small solid agates would make excellent “worry stones.” You carry one in your pocket, and when nervous, you rub the face with your thumb! I recommend tumbling them just enough to polish the face of the agate so as not to wear them down too much.
There is something very satisfying about watching you cut and show agates! I was going to joke about using them to make earrings, however, it appears that many commenters are serious about using these to make earrings. I can just imagine hanging a rock from an earlobe! Thanks for posting!!
My dog goes ape and barks and tries to bite the rocks on the tv screen when I watch your cutting videos and today you said his name “Dudley,” too funny! Thanks for all the work you do!
I really like these. I have no idea about polishing...flat face sander with high grits like your wheels, turned upside down so you just have to hold them there? Anyway, as you are revealing I kept thinking they would look great as earrings! Love them!
It literally looks like you’re cutting pebbles from the picture and I know they’re bigger than pebbles but I know… I hate scams like that or it’s not a complete scam but they just lead you on.. I just would be upset too, but I’m kind of a pushover when it comes to things like that because then I think maybe I didn’t read it correctly or whatever… but anyway I feel like you’ve got the glass half full attitude and that’s a good thing and that’s why everybody likes you. You’re so positive and you’re so fun and your laugh is contagious and your new shop is awesome… you just have a great TH-cam channel and we’re drawn to you. And for someone new like me, it is a godsend because you and a few others have just really enlighten me and gotten me so excited about rock hunting and tumbling and cutting. So thank you!
Since you have two halves you can EASILY turn them into matching earrings. Use epoxy to stabilize them if they have voids and if they're thinly sliced and coated with epoxy you won't have to do much polishing (the clear ones would really pop if thinly sliced) and then add holes for the earrings, they're small enough to not weigh too much and with the amount you have you could easily open an earring booth or sell them online. Just a thought.
Love ❤️ this. Some of those are georgeous. Because you are cutting in half, you can wire wrap them and make earrings. Won't matter if they show agate lines or not, as long as they are paired. Don't try to drill them, they are too small for that.
Kudos 👏 to you for having the patience to cut them all. You are correct with them being so small. I don't know how you were able to hold on to them. I have to admit .. it made me a bit nervous 😓 😅watching the agates(rather your finger's)being cut😮 Your right though, there were some pretty nice one's 👌👍 Thanks for sharing.
For polishing I think you can tape the sand paper rough side up on a table or cutting board and rub the agates on it, probably won't even take very long considering how small they are and you can probably hold a couple at a time.
Oh my goodness, some of these are just the agates of my dreams! For crafts. I make jewelry with wire-wrapped stones, and these are the ones I need the most - small, but with a beautiful pattern, with a fairly flat "hump" on the back. They are great for cute little pendants and clip earrings. Especially just like these, so tiny and at the same time paired, I can't buy them in my country (Jerusalem, Israel). Large stones with a thick hump are simply not suitable for my work, I need either double-sided cuts/tumbled or these little ones. I only have a few such cuts of small agate geodes, not paired and only one type, black and white or brownish, with a similar pattern. I don't know what country they are from, but I will definitely make either single earrings with them, or just several pendants. Yours will also be wonderful for the same kind of work I do, as well as for more complex jewelry work in copper, alpaca, etc.
Hi, if you want a shine on them you could resin the surface. I have done so on some rocks of mine. You need the stones & resin to be warm to hot so it sets quickly. Or use UV resin which is easier but not as strong.
When I found some small rocks that I like I cover the part I want to shine with UV nail polish. Only clear base and clear top coat. You can apply it after degreasing the stone only where you want it to look polished, it remains fluid until you expose it to the UV lamp. It has a pleasing smoothing effect and you can remove it and reapply easily in the future.
When I was in China I saw some shops in my city selling small unpolished agate with holes for bracelets, but I rarely saw dyed ones. There are some of them with green jasper at the surface, and might cause some green powder when you cut it. And I think some of the red or yellow ones from the video might be digged in Hebei Provence.
Hello, I think a few of those were beautiful. A couple of the geodes would really make beautiful earrings. I was looking at a number of the agates that would make perfect tie or cufflink or bracelet. I would have a blast making about 50% of your good ones into jewelry 😊or men’s cufflink or tie tack or even the buttons you could replace. I hope you make a few of them into jewelry cause they really are adorable. The one at four minutes and 38 seconds I really liked. Thank you for letting us watch you work.
My wife and both said make earrings. They're perfect for that. 1) dap stick the front, cut face, 2) Use wheel to polish the back flat enough to attach an earring fixture (epoxy?), 3) dap stick the back and highly polish the front. 4) attach the earring fixture (or as a ring setting too). Gifts or sales.
You could try using (very small) polishing drill bits with a small hand drill. Still finicky, but using a small tool for those small pieces might work. It might leave uneven surfaces though, but they would still be smooth and shiny. Some of those are really pretty and definitely worth doing more with.
For the solud ones Maybe dop and use a slant cabber or faceting machine for a quick polish on the flat side? I'd flip to the back side and grind off some material and see if I'd get a funky little cabachon 😊 Thanks for the videos! Always great!
Those are pretty and the right size for some drop earrings! I would leave the husks, just polish the cut faces. But you'd need to put some kind of sealant on the husk side so color doesn't get all over those who wear them. Nice!
Do you have a Q&A section? My biggest question, ( ive watched you for at least two years) how do you so quickly spot the agates? When you are searching for them, and point out one in the water, i always try to see what you’re going for, and im always WRONG!!! Im carrying around (I fulltime RV) way too many rocks im hoping are agates!! Just got a saw at habitat for humanity, and started cutting. Love your channel!
Those are the perfect size for jewelry making. So many of those are so pretty that we’re on the table to the right. And also beautiful ones in the keep bucket
Nice! Maybe with the solid ones, cut them slightly off center to get a decent slab-ete then mount them to a lightboard. I liked the subtlety of the solid one at 16: 53 with the single dribble inclusion!
I guess the upside to the small size is that they are basically rough cabs already! I highly suggest you grab yourself a Dopping Stick to help with holding whilst polishing/grinding. I'd be curious to see if just grinding off the husk and polishing it into a wee pendant may turn out. All the best!
I liked to buy the small ones for jewelry making.I bought a few pounds of very small agate gravel from a friend of mine, and every so often I'll burn through a bunch.I love the surprises!I also have tiny thundereggs that look and behave like these agates. We are only limited by our imagination as to what we can do with them. Some of the crystally ones would make nice micro mounts, too.
For my littles I use a vibratory polisher. Takes less time to go through the polishing steps and doesn't remove as much material. That way your smaller rocks dont turn into pebbles.
Thanks for watching, have a great day!
You too! Give Bentley extra hugs from me :)
Sell the good ones for very little. I'm not trying to be critical but your offerings on etsy are kinda expensive. I can't afford them myself. Js.
hopefully you can make a video cutting open an agate from indonesian 🙏🏻 , i'm verry happy and motivated to rockhounding in my river after watch your videos, and it's verry interesting to me
Can a buy the agate at @1616
Those would be great earrings, or charms for necklaces or bracelets!
That's what I was thinking 🤗 I hope he puts them up for sale on his etsy page.
Came to say this! They're so perfect for earrings!
I was thinking the same thing 😊!!
I was thinking the exact same thing.
Agree 100%
loved the little "tap tap" of excitement when the reveal was good.
Each one is a gem, no matter how "ugly". Looking back in time is precious.
Some of those would make beautiful earrings!
Just what I was thinking. Or if ya're really crafty with acrylic pours, paper weights after some polishing?
This yes
I can wire wrap, and that was my first thought. But they would have to be polished.
@@PatricesProjects they would be so pretty wire wrapped
I agree
@agatedad
I would maybe look into dop sticks. For the ones that actually have a face, and not geodes, you can apply the stick to the cut surface face, and grind down the back flat. He does have dop sticks, but these are soooooo small.
@@CWorgen5732...opals are smaller. It's practice and skill.
I came to the comments looking for someone who suggested dop sticks. I agree, opals can be much smaller than these agates. 👍🏻
My 5yr old daughter asked me to buy her a saw so she can cut rocks like Agate Dad. She absolutely loves watching you find, cut, and polish all the amazing rocks and minerals.
They would make cute necklaces or bracelets ya know. Raw and wrapped with wire.
Kristy, I wholeheartedly agree. I’d buy them if Taylor decides to sell them…
totally agree. They can be put to good use.

Yes! Earrings and necklaces with wrapped agates are so beautiful!
That pink and blue one in the last batch was sweet! I loved the teeny geodes. Some of them had really nice patterns on the edges.
Tiny but cute❤... Would have to agree they would definitely work as pendants or charms for bracelets and definitely earrings!!
As an artist, I can imagine these little guys working in some sort of art piece.
I would put some in a resin mold and make paperweights. The resin would magnify the details and bring out the colours.
Love the dog living his best life in the back ground!🥰
Thankyou for taking the time to still cut them even though they were small, there was some beautiful pieces amongst them.
The little geodes would be great for people who make doll houses/miniature rooms. People into miniature things could use these - a scale-model glass-front cabinet filled with a miniature rock collection.
This is a really cool idea!
😮oh that's a very nice idea
me, a doll artist, staring at this video with rapt attention thinking about how cute the little geodes are
That is such a cool idea!!!
That's what I was thinking! Would love to have some for bookshelves and table accents too.
I never liked it when businesses don't put actual size too.

I wire wrap stones/crystals and those would be beautiful as a pendant, earrings, bracelet. I'll check out your shop for any of these you want to sell!
Those look fun and many will be fun to polish. Can’t all be winners. Great pace on cutting and reveals in this vid.
Here for the Taylor agate band laugh!
This was amazing. I was enamored watching you cut so many
The small solid agates would make excellent “worry stones.” You carry one in your pocket, and when nervous, you rub the face with your thumb! I recommend tumbling them just enough to polish the face of the agate so as not to wear them down too much.
Definitely some cute earring in here.😍
I love when I can tell your excitement through only how your hands shake when you open the agates without voice
You should make them into necklaces. Or put a
Hinge on them So it opens and closes😅
They're so kyooooooot! These make me want to grab a rock tumbler - no cuts, just a polish.
Some of the paired split halves, once ground and polished on a flat lap would make great earrings!
In the 2nd go of cutting the first one black center had a little cavity of black crystals.
If I was the Honey, I'd grind the round part down flat and make earrings out of them. The yellow tear drops are just beautiful. Thanks for sharing! 🥰
Very informative as far as answering consumer questions about purchasing from questionable sources. Very good topic.
2:27 it kinda looks like a pumpkin. That was actually kinda cool to me
This is why listing reviews are so important!
I love the geode with the crystals & semi circular bands. Really pretty.
The matched pairs could be made into cufflinks
Those are pretty and the right size for some drop earrings! I would leave the husks, just polish the cut faces. But you'd need to put some kind of sealant on the husk side so color doesn't get all over those who wear them. Nice!
Great video thank you for doing all that cutting in the heat. Some of those rocks weren't small because they revealed galaxies - beautiful
Beautiful geodes. I agree with making them into jewelry, or use in miniature designs.16:17 gorgeous colors (pink/purple).
I guess the upside to the small size is that they are basically rough cabs already! I highly suggest you grab yourself a Dopping Stick to help with holding whilst polishing/grinding. I'd be curious to see if just grinding off the husk and polishing it into a wee pendant may turn out. All the best!
Love the pink and blue one and the one with what looks like a rose bud in side is beautiful! I think I would polish the one 1/2 and the other tumble!
You should polish the flat front and sell them as earring sets for wire wrappers... we love ❤️ these for wire wrapping
For my littles I use a vibratory polisher. Takes less time to go through the polishing steps and doesn't remove as much material. That way your smaller rocks dont turn into pebbles.
Necklace charms! I have several teeny tiny geode necklace charms and I love them so much.
