Hello, great tutorial! I love these hats. I'm making one for my 5 & 1/2 year old niece. Do I follow the pattern all through the top piece, and how many rows would there be for the rim? Thank you so much
Hi Mary, I’m not really sure without actually making one that small, but maybe make the circle on the top a few rows smaller and then don’t make as many rows down the side of the cap. You’ll have to adjust as you go along. The pattern is written for an adult, so if you’re an experienced crocheter then you could probably figure it out. Hope that helps 🧶🥰
Hi Arlene 😀 My nails are glue on pre polished and they last about 2-3 weeks on me. If one falls off, I just glue it back on 😂🙌🏻 Here’s the link from my Amazon store. This is the best crochet tutorial I've watched on YT! You teach in a clear, friendly, well-paced way - thank you, I could listen to you all day long! Happy new year's wishes to you! I also like the green/yellow hat - is it the same pattern as this white one?
Oh my! That is such a sweet comment 🥰 I so happy you enjoyed it. All the hats are the same pattern, just different size yarns. Happy New Year and hope to hear from you again in the future. Happy crocheting! 🧶😍🎊🌟💖
I recommend using a 3.75 mm or a 4.00 mm hook. The larger the hook, the looser your hat will be. In order to keep a nice tight shape, the smaller hooks are perfect to use.
OMG, this is so cute!!! I just finished making a bucket hat, I'm going to make this one next! Thanks for sharing and I just subscribed to your channel.😊💜
Hi Rosanne, you need to click on “more” underneath the title and then when that opens up then click on “more” again. You’ll see everything in the description. TH-cam sure doesn’t make it easy. You can also email me at sparklyone60@gmail.com and I’d be happy to send you my free pattern if you’d like. Thanks for commenting! 🥰🧶💖
Great tutorial! I used a 5 H hook, and I think it might have been too big? For some reason when you said "between 6-7 inches", mine was 7 1/2 inches. I also had to stop at 8 rows to do the sides and back instead of 10 rows. I'll have to invest in another hook to get this correct. The hat looks nice, but is more floppy than the one that you have. Probably because of the hook. I'm going to make a few of these in different colors, though. Walmart didn't have a lot of colors in the Peaches and Cream, so I will check your website for more colors.
What a fabulous easy to follow tutorial, thank you 🙏🏻 I’m wondering what size MM hook to use for one in chunky wool ? Also do you have any baby summer hat tutorials? Have a fabulous day xx
Hi Louisa! Thank you so much! I personally wouldn't us a chunky yarn, it will turn out too heavy. I would stick to a size 4 weight yarn. I don't have any baby summer hats. Thanks for watching xoxo

Hi Ronda..would it be possible to make this for a baby…I’m thinking that I can follow the pattern and just make the crown much smaller and don’t do as many rows for the side, but I’m wondering what the increase would be along the side? And, of course, less rows for the brims….maybe you could give me some suggestions on the increase? Thank you so much!
Hi Joyce! I would suggest using a thinner yarn, maybe a baby weight or size 3, use a size c or d hook & follow the pattern and I’m pretty sure it will turn out a lot smaller. Please let me know how it goes. Happy crocheting 🧶💖🥰
Your brim does look a little bit stiffer than the other ones on the white hat what did you do anything extra on that one to make it flare out??? Versus the other ones look kind of floppy
The hats do stretch a bit, so make sure to use the F hook, as it will make it a little tighter. I did use the G hook on some of them, so that's probably why. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm always here to help!
I am working on this pattern and really like it so far. I have a question with the brim. Round 2 says there are 98 stitches and the closest I can come to is 108 which is a big difference. Any suggestions on what may be going on? My stitch count for the last row of the sides and before beginning the brim was 72.
Hi Annette, I think you should be ok with the 108 sts. The most important thing is that you try on the cap part before you start the brim to make sure you like the fit. The brim will be fine as long as you follow the pattern. Sometimes our stitch counts can vary for whatever reason, it’s not an exact science 🙌🏻🥰 Keep me posted! I’d also love for you to send me a photo of your finished hat, as I’d love to see it! Sparklyone60@gmail.com. Happy crocheting 🧶😍💖
I looked through the replies hoping to find help with my count when I saw this post. I too have the same counts as you and kept starting over trying to find my error. But I guess having 108 sts should still work. I have no idea how to get to 98 sts, following the pattern.
We all have different tensions and yarns. Once you start seeing it wave to much, just don’t increase as much. As long as the work stays flat you can keep going round and round. Hope that helps
For making an adult size Sun hat if I use sugar n crème cotton yarn, what size hook in mm should I use? Should it be sz 4mm or 5 mm? The label on the yarn says 5 mm. But as per your recommendation when I looked up G is 4.25 and F is 3.75. Please advice.
The smaller hook would be better, as it makes it more stiff. You might have to make a few more stitches here and there. Make sure to try it on after you make the cap to make sure it’s not too short. They usually stretch so if it’s a little tight, that’s ok. Hope that helps. Keep me posted 😀🙌🏻🌸
Thank you so much for the quick reply! I really appreciate it. I used 4 mm hook and am almost done with the hat. My brim has become wavy though. Do you have any tips to make it more stuff? I am planning to make one more hat.
Hi Meenal, I’m sorry you’re having trouble. It’s not an exact science, so when you are seeing that it isn’t laying flat as you’re going along, then don’t increase as often. You may not need to increase for a few rows. Just keep laying it on the table to see if it’s flat and continue increasing as needed. We all crochet with different tension, so that’s where it can get tricky. Hope that helps.
Thank you for responding! I'll go back and check my numbers and increases. I LOVE your crochet video for hat. Please keep making the crochet hat and crochet shawl patterns. 😆 Your personality is so much Fun!
Aw, thank you Alley! You are so sweet! What kind of hats & shawls would you like to make? You can send me suggestions at sparklyone60@gmail.com. I’d love to hear from you 🥰💖 Have a lovely day 🌸
On my first attempt, my brim looks really wavy and is so short, over an inch too small. Im going to try and pull everything out and try just with the increases, no SC all around. I think its the type of yarn i was using.
Hi Rhonda! I started making this beautiful hat...now I was just wondering, that when we start the increase rows which would be like 12 extra stitches per row...at the end of my 4th row my stitches added up to 47 instead of 48? did I mess up..lol
Him Mary! Funny you mention the flower and ribbon. I’m currently designing a flower for that exact purpose. I may have a video coming soon! Thanks for commenting 🥰💖🌸
Love your work. I use the same yarn the same hook but mine has so much volume. It don't look like yours. I don't understand what I did wrong. Thank you so much for sharing your work
Thank you Margarita 🥰 It all has to do with the tension. You do have to keep it somewhat tight so that it keeps its shape. You can also make the circle a bit smaller in the beginning (don’t make the last round or two) and the hat will turn out smaller. Hope that helps 😊🧶👍🏻
You can always add a wire to it. At least that’s what some people have been doing. I’ve never used one, but I think it’s called milners wire. If you’re up for it, make another one and make sure to keep your stitches tight and use a size smaller hook. It should turn out great 😀🧶
Hi Lorri! Are you able to tear out your work? or did you weave in your ends? Instead of increasing in row 5, sc only in row 5 and just continue with row 6. Hope that helps. Everyone's tension is a bit different, so that could be why it turned out too wavy? Keep me posted! xoxo
@@SparklyOne Hi Ronda. Thanks for getting back to me. I already wove in the ends but that's ok. I started another one last night and I'm on row 5 so I'll unravel and try the new way. Thank you again💖

Beautiful my sister bday coming snd its western excited to try this 🩷🩷🙏🏾
Where do you find the instruction box she talks about? I have clicked everywhere!
Love them all
Thank you Bailey! Please let me know if you have any questions. Happy crocheting 🧶🤩🧶
It also depends on your tension, so sizing the hook down would be a good idea. Keep in mind it will stretch, so crocheting a bit tighter will help 🧶😍
New subscriber...BRAVO!!!!
Thank you! It’s so nice to have you here 🥰🧶💖
Thank you so very much.
You are so welcome 🥰🧶 Thank you for watching 💖
Can acrylic give the same results
Yes, but make sure to keep stitches a bit tight so it doesn’t get to floppy & use a size 4 yarn 🧶
@@SparklyOne thank you for the advice! I've had to purchase some invisible hat wire as the brim was too floppy but it's looking fab with the wire. xxx
That's a perfect fix! Thanks for commenting back to me xoxo
Love it!
Thanks!!
It’s great but how do I get into the description box
Hi Emma, you need to click on “more” underneath the title and then when that opens up then click on “more” again. You’ll see everything in the description. TH-cam sure doesn’t make it easy. Love your hats, cant wait to make a few, however I can not find peaches and cream yarn on the internet. I can't get out to shop the stores. Any suggestions?
Hi Nancy 😀 I’m so happy you like my hats. I have linked my Amazon Storefront here. I have Peaches & Cream listed so you can buy it here. Keep me posted on your progress. Hugs 🥰🧶🌸

My hat came out floppy. How did you make yours so stiff?
@@SparklyOne Thank you for explaining how to avoid the waviness. I am still new with crocheting. I will use these tips in my next hat 😊
You are so welcome 🤗
Where can i get written pattern I can copy and paste?
You can copy and paste the directions in the description or you can email me at sparklyone60@gmail.com for the pdf 😊
Wonder what I did wrong! Mine turned out with a floppy brim!
Most likely too many increases or you need to go down a hook size 🧶😃
The brim is going downwards instead of coming outward like a brim. What am I doing wrong? Thank you
I’m not sure, but you might not be increasing enough.
I’d love to hear from you 🥰💖 Have a lovely day 🌸
They all are simply gorgeous and i cant wait to make a ton of them.
Thank you! Let me know if you have any questions 🧶🥰
Great teaching I been crocheting since I was 8 but I can't follow a pattern but I do better watching thank u ❤
You’re welcome 😊🧶Happy crocheting 🥰
I would like to know how many rounds for a 10 year old child
On my first attempt, my brim looks really wavy and is so short, over an inch too small. Im going to try and pull everything out and try just with the increases, no SC all around. I think its the type of yarn i was using.
Have you watched the entire video? I have lots of tips along the way to avoid those mistakes 🥰🧶
Yes I did, but after the second time it is still coming out the same. The only thing I can think of is the yarn.
Made a couple and brim is wavy too
You'll need to use a smaller hook or crochet tighter.

I have tryed looking for the pattern but with so many comments i still can't find.. could you post it again please
Hi Sharon, the pattern is in the description box or can email me at sparklyone60@gmail.com for the pattern 🧶🥰🌸
Hi Rhonda! I started making this beautiful hat...now I was just wondering, that when we start the increase rows which would be like 12 extra stitches per row...at the end of my 4th row my stitches added up to 47 instead of 48? did I mess up..lol
You just keep going. Being off 1 stitch is no big deal 😁 It should turn out just fine. Keep me posted 💖🧶
@@SparklyOne great!! I will let you know about my finished project. Thanks 💖
Made the white hat and it came out beautifully. Now i want to add a flower and ribbon. Thank you for the tutorial.❤
Him Mary! Funny you mention the flower and ribbon. I’m currently designing a flower for that exact purpose. I may have a video coming soon! Thanks for commenting 🥰💖🌸
Awesome ♥️
Thank you Grace! 😍💖🥰
Thank you
I used a 5mm hook and I'm kinda nervous cause it might be floppy and I want it to stay up so I can make it into a cowboy hat :(
You can always add a wire to it. At least that’s what some people have been doing. I’ve never used one, but I think it’s called milners wire. If you’re up for it, make another one and make sure to keep your stitches tight and use a size smaller hook. It should turn out great 😀🧶
I should have asked where to find instructions for this had?
f or g hook??what is that in mm. please
F = 3.75 mm and G = 4 mm :)
@@SparklyOne ohh thanks 😊
Thank you so much for putting this on! 💖
You are so welcome! Let me know how it turns out! xoxo
I have one more row before I finish off and my brim is wonky
Just finished making one in white. I enlarged it another row but the brim turned out wavy. I don't know what I might have done wrong.
Let me know if that technique works! xoxo
Good evening Ronda. I just finished another hat and I crocheted tighter this time and didn't increase on row 5 like you suggested . It turned out much better!
Thanks again for your patterns and for answering my concerns. I really enjoy your channel and your loving heart for the Lord🙏💖
Aw, Lorri! I’m so happy this one worked out better! Yay! I’m so happy to hear you love The Lord, too! He’s our rock and our salvation 🥰🙏🏻 God bless you sweet girl 💝 Send me a photo if you can. I’d love to see it and share it in another video in the future 🙌🏻😀 sparklyone60@gmail.com
This is a cute pattern. Would like the written pattern sent to me, but I don't see your email address. Thank you!
My email is in the description box, but it’s sparklyone60@gmail.com
Thank you. Gave a great weekend 😀
How can i crochet this for my female friend that wear wigs
The yarn does stretch a bit, but you can use a larger hook as well 🥰🧶
