I"m going to starch this hat. It looks very nice as it is, but it will be even better when starched. I used floral wire on the edge of the brim. It is very thin, so isn't giving the same kind of structure as in the video. Hoping the starch will help. Also, I changed the pattern slightly just before crocheting the brim. I did 66 slip stitches on the "waist" of the stitches, so that I could start the brim from there. This way it flares out better. It looks nice! Thank you!
So sorry for the long response time that sounds like a fantastic idea using the slips to just never thought of that but I can totally see how that would work. Hopefully the starch worked well for you too!

Hi. How do we know what size finished hat we will need? Does the hat at end of increase rows need to fit tightly or loosely on the top head? So excited to start this.
I also wanted to add what i did to give ideas I used a 3 wieght baby yarn, to get the 6 1/2 inch top it came to 84 stitches (also divisible by 3) and I added an extra row of single stitches (5 rows instead of 4) and instead of finishing at the pico (st,ch2,st) i did one more row of 3 double stitch around which made the edge already even and went right into single stitch on top of them. After one row of single stitch I did a row of double stitch, 2 dstch, dstch, 2dstch. then single stitch without increase (this curls the brim up, i did not have wire) Then i did a row of pico on the edge. The brim can be pulled straight at the front for more sun shade if needed and is super cute either way (curled or straightened)

I just ordered the Bernat yarn using the above link. Well, the size you are directed to is wayyyy toooo small. It is only 50g /1.75oz. You need to purchase the larger roll of 400g/14 oz. Will return and reorder.

Approximately how many skeins of the Bernat Handicrafter Cotton was used? Is it 4? 50g x 4= 200g? Thanks.
I didn’t hear which hook you used and yes I would be very interested in a bag tutorial
6.5 for hat, 5.5 for two rows of band and all of the brim
Hello. Do you have a matching bag pattern for the hat?
Just finished in purple raffia.😊 I would add a photo but can’t
Beautiful
Thanks so much Karen. Still waiting for the sun here so I can enjoy mine 😉😎

What if i want the lace part to be part of the brim
Did you start with the 5.5 hook? I’ve just started and now I’m worried that you started with the 6.5 and I can seem to find where you say…
I started with the 6.5 :(
If I get the 19 gauge plastic memory wire, what size crimp connectors do I need? Thank you!
I'm not sure because i didn't use connectors I would recommend checking online so sorry :(
@@prettydarnadorable I used heat shrink tubes. The hat came out really, really nice! Thank you so much for this tutorial!
It's a beautiful hat but too small for me... would it be possible to make it fit a 23" head?
Yes I actually talk about that in the video after round 6 or so. If you need clarification please let me know :)

It starts with a 6.5 - so happy you like the hat!

Hi. How do we know what size finished hat we will need? Does the hat at end of increase rows need to fit tightly or loosely on the top head? So excited to start this.
This fits a typical adult head so any where from 20 to 22 inches.
Can you use any cotton yarn for this hat?
As long as it is worsted weight yes 🙃
I love it! 😍 Can you make a leather base bag tutorial? 🙏
Great idea! I will have a look and see what I can find. I have the pattern done for the bag already but a leather base sounds like a great idea.
What yarn and hook size
Bag please!
If you are familiar with stitches the "lacy" part is the primrose stitch, super easy
I also wanted to add what i did to give ideas
