Thank you so much for this easy to follow tutorial. I really like this hat pattern and I have this yarn and been waiting for the perfect hat to use it. You are an awesome teacher! ♥
Wonderful pattern! I think that I would use the tan yarn as a ribbon and weave it just above where the head part meets the start of the brim. I would call it an accent.
I'm so excited to make this hat! Several years ago I bought this yarn to make market bags. I have 2.5 skeins left of the yarn (2 different colors) with no project for them - until now!
Hi Brittany. Very pretty hat. Just as you started talking about finishing the brim I’m saying out loud, “what about an invisible join”, lol. And then you did it! Also, before you start shaping the sides, it would make a beautiful 10 point star! Perfect holiday decoration! I cannot justify buying anymore yarn. I have enough to open a store! Hopefully I can find something on the stiffer side in my stash. Thanks for another lovely pattern.❤
This is really cute. I love simple patterns like this too. Sometimes patterns can be so wordy and complicated. Thanks for sharing. I wonder if you could put ribbon through the bottom shells before the brim. That would look so cute.
I used the Rewind Tape which i kinda like but it was really bumpy when the hat was finished and the head part was too big even using the size 5 hook. I ran a long piece if the same yarn along the base of the cap to tighten it and tied it off eith a bow so i could tighten even more if needed. Wish i could post a photo to make more sense!
Thanks so much I really enjoyed this such a great tutorial I crochet for a children's Cancer ward .I make blankets for them.was asked to make hats too.could I make this in dk somit would fit a child.love your channel.love from Ireland.🍀🍀
Thank you so much for this lovely pattern! ❤ I was just wondering, to over exaggerate the single crochets, would it be ok to use maybe a half size larger hook?
I absolutely love this pattern, but I have really thick hair and a large head. Do you have any insight on how to neatly increase the circumference size to fit a 24in head?
Hi Brittany, made this hat and I like the Ribbon yarn; and your pattern and tutorial are great. I have more of this yarn but can’t find any more patterns that use it. Someone on TH-cam said this yarn when stretched does not have a good recovery; what is your experience? Do you have any more hat patterns for this yarn? Is there a good substitute yarn; bc I want more colours.
Thank you for this beautiful, fun sun hat 👒 I'm wondering if I can make a half shell at the beginning of the rounds, then finish with the other half and join with a hdc or ch & sc to avoid the slip stitches. Lots of love and yarny hugs 💗
Sounds like something fun to try, and I'd love to see how it turns out! If you share a picture of it on Facebook or Instagram, be sure to tag me so I can see!
Love the pattern and style, but is there a way to size down the hat so it’s a bit smaller? It seems to be a bit too big for me, even after dropping a hook size from the H hook recommended. I would just like it to have a bit of a tighter fit. But it’s a great pattern and really love the style of it. I could see making quite a few of these, changing up yarn and whatnot. Thanks for any help you could provide 😊
Thank you for this lovely pattern but I wonder if you can advise me before I buy the yarn. I am bald as I have frontal fibrosing alopecia and I haven’t got a tight gauge so I know if I follow your pattern it would be too big for my head. Is it possible for you to advise me if I did one round less of the crown would that be a solution maybe? Thank you ❤️
It might take a little experimenting, but I’m sure you can make it work! I think I’d start by omitting the 7th crown round, and working the same round 6 pattern for the hat body repeat. This way you’ll have only one double crochet between the shells. Then if this ends up too small, you can always try one hook size bigger! I’d love to make this available in more sizes, but hopefully this will give you a start until then!
If you don’t have that type of yarn, could you use a double strand of regular yarn or even cotton yarn to gain the same stability? I really want to make this type of hat! It’s gorgeous!
I’d go with a medium weight cotton over double stranded. That might make it a little too big 👍 I’ve made it with the same hook size using Lily Sugar ‘n Cream and it turned out nice!
Hello, I'm on the brim. I don't see how it will balance to form a circle. I mean the curvy edge to even out, did i miss something? I am on Round 14 Thank you
hi guys i tried making this hat. everything went well until it came to the brim...it turned out more like a bucket hat....not going out but just straight down...is there a way to fix that?
Show how to make it without the ruffkes/ripples in the brim? The bumps are very unbecoming. I wouldn't wear it that way. If I were to enter it in the county fair it would not take any prize or ribbon. I could not sell this quality in a craft bazaar. So how do you make it without the ripples?
Love this hat, I’m going to make one for my daughter with raffia yarn so it has a nice structure. Just not as big of a brim etc
Thank you! Now I finally have a project to try with my hemp yarn. I imagine it will have some good structure as well~~ 😊
Oooo I’d love to see that! I bet it’ll be beautiful!
Made it! Mine turned out more like a bucket hat but I’m in love!
Mine as well! 😅

I love that idea!
I did it and I love it! Thank you!
I actually have this yarn in my stash. I'm definitely going to make it for my trip to the Caribbean next month. Thank you 😊
Perfect! Have a wonderful trip!

I’ve been trying to find a cute hat ribbon to try this!
Perfect timing ! Sorting my yarn and found my box of rewind! Starting on it now!
Perfect! Have fun!

I have a very small head. So would going down a hook size or have one less pattern piece be more effective?
I finished the hat but it didn't look like yours. The head part was to big.

Is a super saver number 4 yarn is ok to use please?
I haven't tried Super Saver with it personally, but I have a feeling it'll work out great. It'll probably have some good structure to it!

Thank you
It doesn’t seem like it will, but with enough rounds it will 🙃
How many skeins for the hat? I skein just for the hat and 1st option brim?
If you use Rewind tape yarn, one skein will finish brim option 1. That’s about 219 yds 👍
I want the written pattern for this hat
