I do the vulcano thing too, it makes the potatoes drenched in gravy. If you just pour it over, the gravy will go anywhere except on the potatoes. (And your gravy will be cold and solid if your plate is still cold) If you dig a hole first, the potatoes suck up all the gravy.

Then there's the nostalgia when you talk about things like making a volcano with your food, which a lot of people, including my family, used to do, but I think is a lot less common now.

@8:13 for me it's both B and C. First you mash the veggies and potatoes together with your fork, and then build a little vulcano out of the mash and pour the gravy in :D
Yep vulcano, I still make it. With the gravy of the backed bacon you make the vulcano erupt because the gravy makes noise and really spatters up, so it kinda looks like a erupting vulcano. 😊🌋

It's about 3.5 times longer than the normal one.
Gravy vulcano is definitely a grown up thing too! But I would say we do that with stamppot, not with just boiled potatoes
