I lost my Mama to cancer in 2013 and she was a redhead. I have one little lock of her beautiful red hair. :(.. This actress Karlene Crockett reminds me of her so much.
My beautiful mum pass away from cancer 2009 and i watching this movie it made me cry. My mum was amazing mother and she was single mum raising my sister and I on her own. My mum was like this girl mum in this movie didn't go straight away to get tested if she had cancer. I still miss her and love her so much even she pass away long time ago.😭✌️
This one really hits home. I lost my mother to cancer when I was ten years old. This took place 3 years before her passing in 1984. I wish I had watched this.
R.I.P dear Mom & Dad, November 2022 & February 2007, respectively. I miss and I love you both, I think about you everyday. Cancer is a terrible disease, it took both my parents. 💔
I lost my mom almost 8 years ago and I'm crying hysterically having watched this, however, it was very well done with an important message. And Rob Lowe was absolutely adorable.

To all of you young people this is exactly what I did in my high school days as well. This was before computers although later on in high school. We did have computers after the fact, but before computers. This is exactly what we did bitterly. It was transcribed to us and we typed it. And if you didn'type it correctly, you did it again and again and again.
Although this movie is sad it is good because it shows the importance of appreciating the more important things and people while they are here. Also how to cope when dealing with a terminal illness. The daughter grows in ways she didn't expect while getting to know her Mother.
I lost my maternal grandmother, who lived with my single mom and me and was, in every way that counted, my other parent, and I was overpowered by sorrow even though I was already an adult
The pain never, ever goes away...and that's okay. It's the price we must pay for tremendous love ❤️. I'll pay that price each and every time. Our responsibility on this planet is to love, love, love as much as we can, animals, humans, and our environment. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜❤️🧡💛💚💙💜❤️🧡💛💚
This messed me up as a kid, every time my mom coughed or had a headache I was pressing her to go to the doctors.......never even thought of losing a parent until this afterschool special.
This was definitely a sad one, but there were kids out there who could relate. I'm sure it helped a few kids dealing with this issue or kids who were watching a friend go through it. Everybody will hit a rough patch eventually. These mini-movies taught life lessons and empathy. We could use more After School Specials right now.
@@dianeoh8795 I would love to bring Afterschool Specials back! I sometimes make my teenagers watch them for laughs, but I secretly hope they get something out of it!
I’ve watched this episode back on an Afterschool Specials DVD set 14 years ago because I remember when this Redhead’s mother was diagnosed with throat cancer & had later spread to her lungs which is now a matter of time before her time on Earth is up .
im sorry for your loss....the irony....sorry..,missing a letter....i was iagnose with acute myeloi leukemia on march 14 of that year.....im in remission but im so sorry for your loss.
Instead of when I was young...this pretty much happened to my mom around 2012...and she died in 2015. It started in the breast and metastasized into kidney and bone. While this show is a good indicator of the reality, there's more. Debt, funeral expenses, possible lack of insurance, foreclosure... This is stuff I know all too well. After mom died, we were foreclosed on, and we never really recovered. My brother and I are homeless. Make sure you guys get tested, and make sure that you get enough insurance, so what happened to us doesn't happen to you...so that you don't lose everything, like we did.
I'm so sad to hear your story, you are so right to warn people, we never what might happen in life, we need to be prepared, I'm praying that your situation will get better.
Oh gosh! How sad! I hope God will help you and your brother to find a home and find hope and that you 'll soon get consolation. I 'm sure your mother looks after you in heaven.

This is one of the worst Afterschool Special type of shows I've seen on here, but that was a very, very young ROB LOWE behind her during the typing test!
I too was confused by that scene. Before the teacher said that I thought she was typing her feelings and other non-course related material in a bout of emotions.
I am just now watching this movie but if you want to know about any song, you just press Google on your cell phone and then press the microphone and hum or sing a few words and notes of the song or let Google hear the song from another device and it will tell you what it is after a few seconds.. I simply played the graduation scene where they were playing that song you were questioning on my iPad and pressed Google on my cell phone and then there is a tab that says "search a song" and then I let it play on my iPad onto my cell phone and within seconds it pulled up the name of the song .. .it is called Tetsu & Masaki Piano Duo Labarre/ Duo Sir La Prophett De Meyebeer 🌞

But good editing in a movie can fool anybody into thinkg anything is good, really… The scene in typing class is painful as are the mom’s death sequences. Sad hugs.
Love these. Just recently found these. And it's the second one with Rob Lowe before he was big.
I just saw teenage father and when I saw this one I didn't know he was in it
This Rob Lowe when he was young before he became rich and famous. He was cute when he was young and he still cute when his older.

This is pretty heavy and sad for an Afterschool Special. I just watched it and I cried. Reminded me of when my own Mother died. I miss her so much.
