I'm 54 clean 18 years ago but I'm very ill with HIV,hep c,copd,PTSD,depression and anxiety and if i was going still going Raving at 37,i see my own daughter going out with her boyfriend and friends who some smoke weed.i know exactly how you feel about today's music and drugs Today because I'm glad i got out when I did but I had to bury my husband from a drugs overdose and all he listened to was Rap and now our daughter is after loosing 2 babies and she is only gone 18.I can honestly say that she is not the drug type as she seen things that no child should,.my husband used to od regularly and I have had to remove needles from his arm,leg,feet,groin and wherever he found a vein.Drugs are made sound like it's what you have to do to fit in but my daughter has no problem fitting in anywhere and she has a good few friends after joining the GUARDA/POLICE in Ireland and she is now going to college in September to be a social worker as I have been very lucky to never have any problems with any social worker because i have a great dad and he has been living with us since my husband passed.He is 72 and were related to Tommy and Tyson Fury and she has been out with her cousins and in the Travelling community in Ireland we get shunned by all of our family and friends.I'm just happy I'm not into the music or anything that talks about getting high and degrading women but it's what everyone is listening to.I am a Michael Jackson Fan 70,80,90s music is what music really is.❤❤
I was 10 years old and remember my older sister and her friends watching this and laughing their asses off... years later she told the family at Thanksgiving dinner that she watch it high. This film shows how to smoke weed!
Some observations: 1. Pot turned him from an introvert with no friends (except shadowing his older brother ) to a joyful, amiable person. 2. Pot transformed his mundane appearance to something more hip and modern for the times. 3. Pot gave him the courage and swagger to get closer to Felicity (whose name is awesome), something he was too awkward to do without. 4. Pot gave him the courage to jump into the water HIGH AS F and rescue his larger, heavier brother during an extremely desperate life-or-death situation. Aside from slacking a bit in his grades and developing an edgier attitude, Pot did him some good.
That’s something you notice with the majority of old movies and tv shows. A very ‘don’t do this, no matter how cool we’re about to make it look’ message. 80’s shows, where the message is don’t make fun of overweight people, for example, will be filled with jokes about overweight people.

I know it wasn’t an After School Special and I’ve not seen the movie but the book was shocking/upsetting at that age.
2022. Well, pot is now recreationally legal in my state and I'm stopping by my dispensary tomorrow morning for some edibles. I gave this a thumbs up to save it in my playlist and plan to watch it when I get back. I grew up in the 80's and remember Afterschool Specials fondly, but wow, have times have changed.
I love edibles as for the last year and a half all Cannabis on my long runs on 10 or more miles! For being active, Sativa and Hybrids are my go to. I would use Indicas for a good night to relax and or sleep.

I’ve never ever tried drugs, it never appealed. Not even alcohol. And I’ve had a fun and successful and interesting life….ALL done with a clear head and no “boosters” to help me. It’s sad how people “need” drugs and alcohol to relax and have fun, but I’ve done that just fine without. Even though I’m “shy” or possible “autistic”, I still learned how to succeed in life. I’ve had a career as a pet stylist for almost 20 years now, I go on trips to ghost towns, and have enough friends to get me by….meaning only a few, how I like it-less friends, less drama!!

I was talking with a friend from high school once about how nobody ever offered EITHER of us anything back then. We didn't even get to see what they looked like. But these movies always made it look like every kid was getting offered drugs. It's all good because I saw how some of the ones who got turned out turned out. It's not pretty...
I never got offered any drugs either. Of course I grew up in conservative LDS Utah where IF any of that was around it was kept very very underground. We also had the DARE program and all the anti-drug commercials so mostly people really just didn’t do it.

Pretty soon I was a daily or near-daily pot smoker, then I graduated to psychedelics and became a VERY heavy user of those. Eventually I ended up addicted to opiates and had to go into a drug treatment program. I've been clean for about 8 years now - and I've also recently become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. God bless🙂
I was 18 in HS , cruising was the thing to do those days. My two friends and I got offered weed from two guy friends. It was my first try and it was laced. I thought I was going to die!!! Literally! Thank G, my friends took care of me with snacks like snickers and water. I was so happy woke up next morning. Never again. Till this day I’m just not compatible with any type of weed … and yes have tried it again, but just don’t like the feeling. It’s NOT for everyone.
The movie not only showed us that smoking pot was cool and fun, but when it has to show that there must be a bad consequence, it's ridiculous and unrealistic.

I got really stoned before I watched this. I hadn’t seen this in 40 years. The problem was that they blazed way too much like all day long it seemed. I remember seeing this movie on TV back when I was a teenager. The part that kills me, as it did when I first saw the movie, was when Baio admitted he was stoned. That whispered “I was stoned” had me in tears, as it just did a few seconds ago. No, this movie did not deter me, it accelerated things, if you know what I mean. I’ve never ever tried drugs, it never appealed. Not even alcohol. And I’ve had a fun and successful and interesting life….ALL done with a clear head and no “boosters” to help me. It’s sad how people “need” drugs and alcohol to relax and have fun, but I’ve done that just fine without. Even though I’m “shy” or possible “autistic”, I still learned how to succeed in life. I’ve had a career as a pet stylist for almost 20 years now, I go on trips to ghost towns, and have enough friends to get me by….meaning only a few, how I like it-less friends, less drama!!

I was talking with a friend from high school once about how nobody ever offered EITHER of us anything back then. We didn't even get to see what they looked like. But these movies always made it look like every kid was getting offered drugs. It's all good because I saw how some of the ones who got turned out turned out. It's not pretty...
I never got offered any drugs either. Of course I grew up in conservative LDS Utah where IF any of that was around it was kept very very underground. We also had the DARE program and all the anti-drug commercials so mostly people really just didn’t do it.
@@byuftblI got offered weed when I was in boarding school by someone I was friendly with. I think I was 15 or 16. Like in this movie, they figured it would be funny to get a nerdy person stoned. Pretty soon I was a daily or near-daily pot smoker, then I graduated to psychedelics and became a VERY heavy user of those. Eventually I ended up addicted to opiates and had to go into a drug treatment program. I've been clean for about 8 years now - and I've also recently become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. God bless🙂
I was 18 in HS , cruising was the thing to do those days. My two friends and I got offered weed from two guy friends. It was my first try and it was laced. I thought I was going to die!!! Literally! Thank G, my friends took care of me with snacks like snickers and water. I was so happy woke up next morning. Never again. Till this day I’m just not compatible with any type of weed … and yes have tried it again, but just don’t like the feeling. It’s NOT for everyone.
The movie not only showed us that smoking pot was cool and fun, but when it has to show that there must be a bad consequence, it's ridiculous and unrealistic.

I thought getting stoned calmed you down, not make you hyper. Seems like people who just smoke a ton are fairly lazy and don’t do much with their life. Not all people, others have productive lives but they probably aren’t smoking every opportunity they get.

I got really stoned before I watched this. I hadn’t seen this in 40 years. The problem was that they blazed way too much like all day long it seemed. That brought back memories because a bunch of us in school would do the same but we didn’t do bongs in the morning or multiple spliffs. Moderation is the key.

The thing everyone misses in these comments saying weed is so great….has it REALLY made your life “better” or has it simply made you temporarily THINK it is?
