Jaspers character is perfectly understandable. She was subjected to borderline torture as well as solitude. Her mental state regressed, and continued to do so sharper and sharper with each loss. Lapis, smokey, then stevonnie? Going as far as fusing with a monster, a corrupted gem? She was never an unbreakable wall, she was a cracked dam waiting to burst, as evident during her end. She was always sensitive about pink. She didn't slaughter crystal gems out of desire to hurt - she was hurt.

I think White D might be the most emotionless and alien-feeling of all gems we've met so far. Like, Yellow will seem like a fussy kid compared to her. And she will be a great contrast to empathetic Steven. He just won't be able to relate to her, but that doesn't mean she's gonna be evil. She just needs to have things explained to her gradually imho.

I've heard people say that White was absent in The Trial because 2 of Homeworld's matriarchs were already there. I highly doubt one or more Diamonds are present during EVERY trial that's being held. There are probably gem judges for that, just like how there are gem lawyers (Zircons). But Rose/Steven is the most special and important case ever, so not one, but two Diamonds attended. That's two more Diamonds than usual. They had to stop what they were doing, probably something important, and make time for this. Steven's trial didn't need three Diamonds. Besides, White probably had other stuff to take care of. She was off doing something, conquering a planet, leading her Homeworld, whatever it is that she does on the daily. Someone needs to keep the rest in check while Blue and Yellow are busy.

Or will she represent the exact opposite of love there by putting the very core value of the Steven's Universe at risk?!

I love the idea of White Diamond being a level headed leader who managed to move forward. But one thing that bothers me is the whole thing about Homeworld society frowning on fusion.
Is it possible that Pink Diamond's shattering was actually a fusion accident? Here's a little story of how it might go, but know that I'm probably missing details or getting things wrong:
Perhaps Pink Diamond's entourage was mostly missing because Pink Diamond herself attempted a bold move to catch Rose Quartz off-guard with only her Pearl and a few other gems accompanying her. Rose however was planning an ambush herself to catch some of Homeworld's forces off but ended up choosing where Pink Diamond was heading unknowingly. Before Rose could do anything, Pink Pearl really does shout an alarm, but in her attempts to block the incoming attack, Pink Pearl accidentally fuses with Pink Diamond. A fusion with a Diamond however is extremely stressful for both involved (Diamonds are really high on the hardness scale), and the strain, even despite the bond between Pink Pearl and Pink Diamond, resulted in the two shattering. Those who witnessed it only remembered Rose Quartz with a sword and something pink happening at the time of the shattering, but otherwise everything was going too fast for anyone to get a good look at and know what occurred. As a result, Homeworld assumed for the most part that Rose Quartz did it. As for White Diamond? She understood that fusion had something to do with it, but made the choice to let the assumption happen because they still had a war to fight, and convincing her subjects that the leader of this rebellion was willing to shatter their leaders might raise morale in the form of gems seeking vengeance. At the same time though, White Diamond started trying to influence her Homeworld Gems to shun fusion to prevent this from happening again. As for Rose herself? Rose Quartz saw the positive side of fusion, but was afraid that this incident would scare her fellow Crystal Gems out of experiencing such a beautiful thing. Because of this worry, Rose took the blame when relaying the news to her fellow Crystal Gems. Bismuth however knew that something was off, for Rose's sword could not shatter a gem, but this did inspire Bismuth to invent the Breaking Point. After all, Bismuth thought, if a Diamond could be shattered, why not use this on Homeworld leadership to truly end the war once and for all?
I know this is a big one, but what do you think?

Airmanon I really like this one too. My personal theory is that Rose reflected an attack with her shield, however PD's court actually confused the reflection with Rose launching an attack of her own.

Wait, wait, hold on a second... I know it was just a throwaway line in the video but it's going to bug me... there are actually people who don't like Peridot's character evolution? What the heck?
First of all, she was never meant to be a "cunning and clever" villain; she is intelligent, yes, but she is still a low-ranking mechanic who was sent to Earth to do grunt work. As season 2 went on, she was lost and straying further and further from her area of expertise, which is why her cold facade started to fall and she started acting scared and angry; then, when she befriended Steven, he helped her to be more open-minded and happy on Earth. Peridot, in my opinion, is a fantastic example of well-executed character development. She's happy and enjoying life with her friends now. Why would she still be cold and cruel?
Yeah, and she never seemed too incredibly calculating to me - she always looked like she was winging it in this world she didn't know anything about. She was childishly gleeful when she got away (and she's still childishly gleeful when something goes her way even as a non-villain).
I think White Diamond will be calm, cool and collected, but also be a heartless ruthless tyrant at the same time. This would make her even more dangerous and would make her the greatest villain in Steven Universe. She can't be reasoned with, nor have her mind changed and will do anything to accomplish her goals. She'll be a gem that Steven won't be able to talk her out of her actions and it'll make him realize that there are gems that just have to be shattered for the sake of the safety of his loved ones and his planet.

Dude, this is a perfect way to categorize her! If White underestimated her enemy and lost because of it, but Garnet's doing the same though, then she really needs to get her shit together and keep history from repeating itself or Homeworld will win. Also, UNLIKE Garnet, she has her gemstone on her forehead like Pearl and Peridot, therefore is more intellectual. I hope this shows alot, and that she's very manipulative. Hell, she might even find out Steven's literally half human and not fall for the whole "I have her gem so i'm her" schtick.

So, since Garnet is only the leader by default, what if WD was not meant to be the leader? If Pink is a parallel to Rose, what if Pink was intended to be the main leader, but her untimely demise meant that WD had to take over the role and become the leader? Maybe, much like Steven, Pink was being trained by the rest of the diamonds to become the next leader so that White would no longer have to take control of the diamond authority?

I think it's more likely this;
Rose was created as a noble servant to Pink. While she was born a natural, caring leader, she is still strong and dangerous. Rose used her charisma to raise an army, but initially she could have taken Pink out alone, IF THAT WAS HER ONLY GOAL. I believe her true goal was to become the new leader, or possibly free everyone from the diamonds' rule...
So think about it... If Pink parallels Rose... That means she was a threat to White's overall rule.
I think the reason why the Diamonds are so lackluster is to push the message that these characters are VERY unexpected.
LOOK AT AQUAMARINE AND TOPAZ. We thought that Topaz was gonna be intimidating as heck while Aqua was just a bratty, annoying little kid.
But nooooooo Aquamarine was pretty intimidating (SHE CAN STOP *ALEXANDRITE* AND 5 HUMANS WITH A TINY WAND AND TRIED TO KILL SOMEONE ONSCREEN) and Topaz is a complete cinnamon roll.
I personally feel like Jasper losing her edge is like Azula. She’s become so set on her goal, to destroy the Crystal Gems, that she just threw everything she had at once, instead of strategizing.

During the steven universe opening when the song comes to the part where it says garner, amythest and pearl, and steven, change all the characters to the diamonds stated in this video it will be white diamond=Garnet, Yellow diamond= amythest, and Blue diamond= and pearl, and pink diamond= steven. This follows the pattern from strongest to weakest diamond. So this video might be 100% true.

i hope white is a mother-ish person, kind to her allies but strict, firm but fair, and unforgiving and ruthless towards anyone who'd hurt her children, and i hope when she's first introduced she does seem ruthless, maybe she's first introduced she meets steven for the first time and is ruthless towards him, trying to intimidate and kill him, never missing a beat and constantly trying to get under his skin and mess with him mentally (with well placed words, not powers) and succeeds because of the trauma he's experienced.

Pink Diamond was behind her own shattering in order to force the Diamond Authority to back off Earth. Even the rebellion was Pink Diamond's idea. Just a big show for the Authority. That's why all the defeated gems are bubbled, not shattered.

Her plan worked. The war ended and Homeworld left Earth which is what Pink Diamond intended. What homeworld did AFTER Pink Diamond was shattered something she didn't foresee because the payoff wouldn't be until nearly 6000 years in the future. But until then, the Earth would be safe from Homeworld. Certainly safer than if the war had continued.

So I'm guessing she wasn't even there when pink diamond was "shattered" or for the rebellion. She wasn't informed on it. So, she probably didn't know, cuz if she did she would already be introduced. But I think that if or when she learns about this she will be the main antagonist for a while??? Or at least a little bit if or when she copes with the information. And since she Is gone alot like garnet as you said, maybe she is fighting something bigger than what the other diamonds deal with. And she probably is fighting sneaple or something else something bigger and stronger than them. Or maybe she is just colonizing planets or something. Topaz was emotional because she was a fusion, aquamarine remarked that fusions get emotional, meaning that fusing too much (along with abnormalities in gem construction/growth perhaps?) could cause them to be like the crystal gems.
White Diamond BETTER be a true OG and be a bad ass, stone cold matriarch. Anything less would disappoint at this time in the series. We have ZERO to go off of from the show but the HYPE of all her mystery had built in the fan base for a long time. Please Crewniverse, give us an amazing final boss!
has anyone else noticed that the diamonds match up perfectly with the four temperaments? yellow is choleric - angry and forceful, blue is melancholic - sad and quiet, white would be phlegmatic - the mediator and probably very reserved, and pink could very well be sanguine - enthusiastic and social. the colors kind of match up too; when people thought that these temperaments came from various bodily fluids, yellow bile was responsible for choleric personalities, black bile for melancholic types, blood for sanguine types, and phlegm for phlegmatic types. I've been thinking about this for a while and thought it might be interesting to you!

I honestly love peridots character development, it really was amazing. It shows that she was always suppose to act perfect, have a goal and follow through. But when she met Steven, her whole world crumbles. She is shown to 'live in the moment' and be ' flawed '. She learns she doesn't need to be perfect and that she can experience new things. She is finally able to see life as it should be, as Rose wanted every gem to see it as : that life should be experienced and you should learn something knew every day. Granted, it creates heartache but it also creates love and happiness. That's why I love that she went from a mature and orderly gem to a child like g. Because she is experiencing everything as though she is a child and she is happy to have decisions. She is finally able to choose her own path ( it maybe a stupid path but life is about trial and error). Seeing her able to have passions and be flawed makes me happy because she truly understands what it means to be human.
Pearl is the senior member of the Crystal Gems but her grief over Rose was probably why Garnet stepped up to the task instead of her
I feel like White is silent but deadly, mostly calm and quiet but it's eerie and terrifying. She is crueler than yellow but way calmer.
