Vox I have a theory about how the show will end. If WD is truly powering Homeworld and holding it together, then I believe The Crystal Gems, Yellow, and Blue will go up against White. If they manage to poof or shatter her, then HW will die and crumble. What if this causes a planetwide evacuation, forcing all gems to return to earth and coexist peacefully with humanity?
I wonder if Rebecca Sugar ever sits there watching fan videos and reading our coments looking at all the fanart like wow, they figured it out or wow this would've been an awesome idea.

I think this theory makes a lot of sense; a common theme in Steven Universe is that actions have consequences. Steven told Peridot (when she was still aligned with Homeworld) that there were humans on Earth. This led to Aquamarine and Topaz going on a kidnapping spree and eventually taking Steven into space (again). Pearl lied to Garnet so they could form Sardonyx. This led to several episodes where Garnet wouldn't even talk to Pearl. And those are just the ones I could think of off of the top of my head. If there are two more seasons left, then it should be plenty of time to give us a real Diamond redemption.

What I saw somewhere:
At the very end of Steven Universe, it's a black screen and you hear a voice. It's saying "Garnet. Garneeeet. Garrrneeeettttt." It's Rose's voice. It zooms out to show Rose and Garnet sitting on the beach together. Rose says, "So what do you think Garnet? Should I go to the concert?" Garnet smiles and nods.
I would really like Netflix to pick up Steven Universe as the monthly hiatus for this series gets annoying. With Netflix there is also the possibility of having full 30 min episodes and a consistent air time without worrying about CN cancelling the show just because its not as popular as TTG.
PurpleHuskie nah, CN knows the value in SU. CN is just bad at advertising because the company is focusing streaming CN THEMSELVES lol. Having Netflix pick this show up would lose more of a fan base than you think and money for CN. You’d binge watch the episodes, won’t have the chance to soak in all new info. Not only that, the fan base won’t be sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for a new episode IF it was streamed on Netflix. CN won’t cancel SU. CN sees the profit in this show and will milk it as much as they can just like TTG. They already sold so much merch for SU because of the hiatuses in season 5. Just be patient lol the show will go on just not when we want it lol
Im still waiting to see who is morganite, we still have lars and the off colors, and in the last episode, before the gems leave to find pink's ship, when greg tells garnet "Should i be worried?" She replies "Steven, will be fine" right before handing Steven (her cat) over to him,which, from the sound of her voice, probably means that the rest of the gems (her included) will have to face different circumstances .

Well it depends on how is he gonna prove it to them that he's Pink Diamond. I know just asking worked on Bismuth but to them he's gonna say something like, "Okay Pearl lost her cellphone so I went inside her gem and started going through her memories. Then there were more Pearls and there was an alphabetical inventory and then a war. And the next thing I know, Pink Diamond shapeshifted into Rose.". Do you think they'll believe him if he said that to them?

(im sorry this is long, im a history major going for my bachelor's, soon to graduate, with a minor in English, and then off to graduates college, i have an uncharacteristic love for psychology and historical literature for a history major, and so there was no way i was gonna half-ass this comment.)
see, i never considered the diamonds run of the universe as cold hearted conquest. its not that they hate life, its not that they understood and simply didnt care enough TO care. its that they ignorantly just never believed that there WAS a problem. like how a computer program wouldnt understand something sentimental to you, nor care if it was erased. its not out of villainy, its out of "ALMOST" innocent ignorant bliss. especially in the case of white diamond. Pink only figured it out because she actually went out and explored the life, and was still immature and "young" mentally enough to have that open mind , and it math have something to do with how she was made, given her excess of emotions and her life-related powers.
i think a lot of my opinion here stems from two things, my childhood when i saw ghost rider use his stare on galactus in fantastic 4 the cartoon. making this being who's life is dependent on eating worlds, suddenly realize and understand that everything he has done was wrong, and he sufferd the guilt so completely from that revelation. he still had to eat worlds for a living but this made this galactic god understand.
the other thing was reading classical Greek and Norse literature, and other mythologies/religions through my entire life (im almost to my bachelor's degree with a specialty in this subject right now actually, planning to be a teacher) and through these stories, i've psychologically profiled gods, and what, on a literary point of view, drove them individually to have their opinions, preferences, ideas, or cause them to do one thing or another, why were some petty and other kind, while others are cruel and others are non active. and because of this experience, i have constantly, sence "what's the use of feeling blue" been psychologically profiling and understanding the diamonds, from their point of view, seeing why they do the things they do, what could possibly drive their opinions, what understandings or misunderstandings are being formed, AND WHY. (why is a big word here)
so given all of that. i honestly, cant see the diamonds as evil beings, or cruel. they are tyrants still, no doubt, but to them, the gems are basically tools, and organics, are the worms of planets that do not matter in the grand scheme. not because they are racist or bias, but because they truely dont comprehend that their positions as diamonds, the quite literal gods of their society, has distanced them from their own subjects. they work with practicality first, and this line of thought is the true reason they are how they are. pink got away before she could become this way, and white was the first so she's the worst of them all.

I still think WD originally was made as a tool, an artificial intelligence created by organic beings that reached technological singularity and were, probably, colonizers. However WD started to improve herself and/or create more gems, and became so perfect/powerfull that eventually needed not more of her creators.

Those were some good theories! It wouldn't make sense for the Diamonds to just suddenly stop colonizing inhabited planets and all of a sudden see the error in their ways. They're powerful leaders who've spent centeries depending on their ideals and judgement. If all of that were to come in to question they probably wouldn't have an easy time accepting it and would probably lash out at other planets and at their own people.
I hope that they do get redeemed. From what I've seen of the series, which is basically almost the whole series, Steven has this special thing around him that helps people become better versions of themselves. Examples are: Peridot, Lapis Lazuli, Lars, Bismuth, the former mayor Dewey (I think?), Amethyst, Ruby and Sapphire etc.
Even though he is not the leader, he is still a very important crystal gem and great person.

I also can see that in a way - but more following the ideas of vox in this vid, concerning her hardline ideology ("stubbornness") not yielding to any truce agreement. But I don't think it will be a combat between the CG and her but rather WD against said rebellion and Steven might be asked to help out as pink diamond, mecha style, and ultimately has to decide on his role in all that and how to position himself within this conflict
But will be redeemed when they join forces to fight the alien

I mean, she has been colonizing planets that didnt belong to her and she is abusive to her Pearl along witht the fact that we don't know what her powers are, so I'm definately calling dibs on White being the main villain of the series, especially because I think she has mind controling powers.
I think that they may be in a war with another race explaining why there are so many warrior gems and why home world is experiencing a resource crisis as they have trouble expanding
To be honest, I'm kinda annoyed that we're kind of "friends" with the Diamonds already, they've only been showed in like a few episodes, and we barely even know about them.
"Friends" isn't even what I'd call them. They just have a truce with the Crystal Gems and the only reason they do is because of Pink (Steven). Otherwise, I'm quite certain they would have destroyed them by now.

I've always thought that the species that may have created the gems, likely as servants, may be the ones they are at war with.
Hearing you bring up voltron while talking about Steven universe makes me happy and fills me with determination(please don't put a bunch of hate comments here)
Eh.... to me, exploring the diamond's origins is not something we need explaining. It's like trying to explain how the flux capacitor makes time travel happen. For now, Steven has only taken on the problems Rose left behind, and I still believe there's plenty of Rose's baggage left to unpack. If there is a bigger storyline involving a universe coalition dedicated to taking down the diamond authority, I doubt we'll see it this season.
Oh yes! The "Coallition" twist is a BRILLIANT idea, it does bring everything full circle

I like this idea a lot! But there is one major thing that wasn't addressed in it.... The reason diamonds even started invading other planets is their lack of resources to breed/lack of being able to breed. I also think this is a major point. But Steven is living proof that instead of killing other species, it's possible to breed with them... Well maybe since in roses case it meant dying forever xD
I wish we have a mini series about the gem war! Look at the perspectives of both sides would be awesome.
Going on an interesting thought, I believe a future antagonist of the show will be someone, or a group, that are survivors of the gems colonisation, and what revenge for what the diamonds have done, with Steven caught in-between it all.
I kinda think after all of this, the past of gems would be interesting to learn of. Like, were certain gems made in the past but aren’t used in the now of Steven Universe.
It would also be interesting to learn if there were more rebels in the past, but weren’t as strong as Pink Diamond and couldn’t take action.
Or what if there are other colonies that exist within the vast universe?
And we can’t forget the amount of gems on Homeworld, who were told the Crystal Gems were bad. Some might not agree to the fact of teaming up with them.
I’m just throwing out ideas that could happen in the later areas of the show. Since most questions were answered in this season.

When it comes to Lars and the Off-Colors, I’m pretty sure once any rebel groups see them it’ll be clear that they aren’t typical soldier Gems, considering that they’re so off-color.
Actually the rebels could recruit Lars to their cause to provide another explanation for why they haven’t returned to Earth yet. And that could lead to a big conflict where Steven has to decide between helping the Diamonds or the Rebels, who are using Lars as their messenger of sorts
Ha I like that rebellion idea but if that happens I think Steve would be the one to start it. He's grown a lot over the sessions and even if he really doesn't want to fight he'll know that the dimensions won't change. The only way he can really free everyone from them is to get rid of them and make them see they're not as great as they think. Also I love your work you are awesome! 😄
The tyrrany of the Diamonds is why I don't believe that they're redeemed. A truce is just a truce, not a redemption, or even peace. If Pink/Steven still objects, the Diamonds would still be a major problem.
I like the sound of that idea for Steven Universe's ending.
On a side note, I was aware of a Voltron reboot(remake?), but haven't been able to see it. The original series had some graphic violence and horrific themes that were edited out.
What if white diamond has another evil death-cult calling themselves the white diamonds of the order and finding out that their leader has been either been poofed shattered or in a bubble and coming back to kill Steven and releasing her that will be a crazy story
I was hoping that something like seeing an alien resistance or alien species that are against Homeworld might happen in later seasons, especially there’s has to be some kind of resistance going on in space after all the colonizations the Diamonds have done to other planets. I want to see different alien species and planets.
Speaking of alien species, I have a Steven Universe fan character that’s is from another alien race. (I’ll give you the link if you want to see what she looks like)

I don’t think the diamonds need any kind of redemption. In the song “Feeling Blue” Yellow Diamonds says “you’ve got to be a leader blue”, and I think Pink was so rebellious due to her not wanting to fulfill her role as a leader. Her giving up her life to become something different helped her free herself of her fate of being a leader, from the diamonds and then from the crystal gems. The diamonds are doing what they are created to do, I don’t see why that needs redemption.
Honestly hoping there's a prequel of some sorts to show missions they went on or something.

I think if the Diamonds were ever redeemed I think them sacrificing themselves for the greater good would be the best route to take.
A theory I have heard a few times is that white diamond made the diamonds. Yellow, Blue, and White are "perfect" while pink is imperfect. White purposely made her imperfect because she wanted to teach Yellow, Blue, and herself that they don't have to be perfect.
HOLY SHIT THIS IS WHY PINK TURNED INTO STEVEN. to be able to connect with diamonds and gems, as well as organic life, because once she saw the kind of life that existed on earth, she with her diamond intellect would have to come to the conclusion that these were not the only advanced organic life they had destroyed, and that some most definitely survived and would be angry. steven is probably the only thing in the universe that could convince both sides to come to a solution rather than more war

so much to explore and it would be such a good way to keep the diamonds relevant and keep their truce active without reusing the "steven beat them now their his friend" cliché. plus who knows maybe White diamond has gotten wind of them and this is the reason she welcomed "Pink" back instead of shattering her for the 5000 hiding game she played

You don't even need another race for there to be resistance. There are probably more off colors hiding, or maybe they'll be with the alien refugees. I think Lars might show up on Earth at some point when blue and yellow will again just for a "omg it's thoss giant ladies!" Supprise joke. Maybe. It'd be weird if they got captured and taken to homeworld for whatever happens next though.
I'm hoping that Cookie Cat was foreshadowing to a race of cat-like aliens that could join Steven's resistance.
Perhaps the organic coalition will manage to convince human authorities to join them. That would really be a conflict for Steven.

I strongl think the only way Steven and Co can get out of this and get home in tact - is if Steven CONVINCES the Diamonds that he Can and WILL make the Erth colony work. Preferably using some of Rose and Peridot's ideas to make the colony sustainable and not trashing the planet. I do also like the idea that there is a bigger enemy out there however. And the Crystal Gems will eventually be the ones Saving Homeworld from this external threat.
In the clip where Connies mom was yellow while on the phone she was talking to the nephrite blue yellow and pink tried to heal before realising they needed white to fully complete it
