    Hi Jim, first of all let me say that y'all guys are making a really god job with the vuze camera, so thanks for that. I'm a filmmaking student and I was thinking to buy the camera as I could create content for real 3D VR, not the 2D plain version. My only concern is if I'll be able to edit the footage with other software such as Adobe Premiere or After Effects, as I'm interested in producing heavy VFX VR content. Thanks and keep going with the good work!

    Jim, excellent walkthrough video, had a super quick question concerning audio that I'm not seeing others who have started receiving their cameras mentioning so thought I'd ask here. Is it possible to work with the audio track , for example add special effect sounds or in some cases I'll have two different shots of a scene, one form the vuse, one from a Canon with an attached shotgun mic, or even a boom mic which I would want to replace the audio recorded on the Vuze with either a higher quality audio or one that has been edited.. either within the Vuze, or can the rendered video be used in Adobe, or even like Vegas to substitute the audio track and rerender without degrading the video file quality.. Thanks again for your help and great channel so far!

    Excellent tutorial. This software seems to be working nice overall so I'm looking forward to new features added. Not sure if this is a problem only on my computer, but the size of the exported files seems to not match the chosen bitrate in the export dialogue box. If I export say a 20 min clip at 100Mbps the resulting file usually ends up around 1.5-2GB. But given the bitrate I have chosen it should be around 15GB according to my calculations. Is someone else experiencing this problem?

    Hi Jim, I just started playing with my Vuze camera yesterday - way cool! As an Adobe Premiere user I'm very interested in how you edit Vuze footage in Premiere.
    Also.... PLEASE!... talk to someone in the Studio development about putting standard video controls in the interface. At least space bar to start/stop and arrow keys to move frame by frame. I was trying to refine stitching (which works pretty well) but I was having a terrible time stopping on the exact frame I wanted. I never realized how much I relied on those controls until they weren't there!
    I'm also interested in more info on how the app works. Does the preview only show a static image? I couldn't seem to get it to update or show a different angle (though I didn't play with it very long).
    There is a big outdoor art festival in my town on Memorial Day weekend and I hope to shoot, edit and post a Vuze video of it the first week of June!

    I can't even get into the software. I get stuck on the activation page where it asks for the serial number of the camera but doesn't allow me to input it. I followed the instructions of plugging it in but the camera just goes into live streaming mode and nothing happens on the software.

    Jim, in the current video at 5:59 in you mention changing the patch image. Has HumanEyes looked at allowing a video for the top or bottom patch? For example, if this overall video in the Vuze is collected while the person was moving (walking, bicycle, drone, vehicle, helicopter, etc...) and I had a GPS marker of that movement and I later recorded a screen recording of that GPS route on a map like google maps then I would want to apply that map patch video to the bottom of the Patch image location so when the user looks down during playback of the VR video they would see the icon of the GPS marker on the map in relation to where the context of the video was recorded.

    • @JimMalcolm
      @JimMalcolm  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello John, we have looked at adding video as an option; however, so far we have not added that feature to the software. I can think of a relatively simple way to accomplish this in post, but it would require you to have Adobe Premiere or similar software.

    Hi Jim - do you know the best settings from rendering out of VR Studio to get the video into Premiere Pro (or After Effects) so that titles / graphics can be added to the video? Rather than just rendering out a clip you shot? When you want to do more with it?

    • @JimMalcolm
      @JimMalcolm  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Travis: I'm a purist and not so worried about file size so my work flow is as follows. I output 4K UHD files (3840x2160); then under the "advanced" tab I output at 120mbs; which will render the best overall image quality. I'll warn you upfront; these setting make for large file sizes... about 500MB per minute of video.
      Once the files are created you can pull them into Premiere and edit away. The latest version of Premiere CC has some great VR features that make adding VR titles or transition to your project with ease.
      Welcome the world of VR Video.

    Hello again Jim! was wondering if there is any way of adjusting colour values? I'm finding my videos to come out very contrasted and dark. the shadows and midtones are really crushed... even in neutral lighting

    • @JimMalcolm
      @JimMalcolm  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Fraser: First, check your blending levels. The lower the blending level is set, the less density you'll see in your shadows. Second, Play with the color correction, this too can affect your mid tones. And finally, you can aways open up your shadows or brighten mid-tones in third party software. I hear your request for additional control within the Humaneyes VR Studio Software, it's on our list.
      Note: I use Adobe Premiere Pro for color correction in post.

    Hey Jim, I like your videos and appreciate you making them. I just picked up a vuze myself and am kind of struggling to see my first rendered video in VR. I've uploaded it to youtube with the 3D setting, yet when it was done it came out as a typical 2d image with no options. Is there something im missing here? Thanks again! look forward to your next video.

    • @JimMalcolm
      @JimMalcolm  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Fraser: are you using your regular web browser to view the video or the TH-cam app? You'll need to download the TH-cam app and view the video in that which should give you the 3-D options. Give that a try and let me know what happens.

    • @cassius878

      Im using the youtube VR app within daydream. Im not even seeing 360 let alone stereoscopic. I read the 360 video upload that the video requires some metadata? Im at a loss and just seeing the views stacked horizontally. Brings me to another question, shouldnt it be left/right rather than up down? or does youtube etc know how to put the correct image in each eye automatically?

    Hi Jim, just a question, is there a user manual to download for the software? I could not find one online, my interest is in white balance or color correction as my plan is to use the camera underwater after a housing is available

    • @JimMalcolm
      @JimMalcolm  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Reto, there is not an online guide/manual for the Humaneyes VR Studio Software, it's built into the application itself. As for color balance, contrast and stitching control, all will be addressed when we release our underwater housing. As you can imagine there is more to shooting underwater than just color balance.

    Jim, I have a humaneyes software with a Vuze camera and I use it to take 60 sec clips of the interior of our city's shops and restaurants (I work in economic development). I now have a restaurant that is divided into two rooms so I needed to film two 30 second clips in the hopes that I could "stitch" the two videos together to make one 60 second video. Jim, I cannot import into the VR Studio after I copied them from a card to a local folder manually. I cannot get VR Studio to detect any 360 files from my local drives. Do I always have to import using the software?

    • @JimMalcolm
      @JimMalcolm  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello David: The short answer is yes, you do need to use the Vuze VR Studio software to import your files. If you transfer your data manually, you're likely to "break" the file structure.
      Here's is how you can fix and import.
      1. On a memory card create a folder titled "DCIM"
      2. Inside the DCIM folder copy the HET folders you want to import. (hopefully, you have the HET folders intact)
      3. Add a folder to the DCIM folder and name it "MISC"
      4. Place the .yml file into the MISC folder. (Note; you can find the yml file on my microSD card, in the MISC folder.
      5. Once complete you should be able to import from this card into the Vuze VR Studio software.
      Bottom line, the Vuze VR Studio software is looking for all the project files (HET) and the ylm (calibration) file during import.
      I'm hoping this moves you in the right direction, let me know if you're still having trouble.

    Is there any other way to improve the stitching than the "add frame" option?

    • @JimMalcolm
      @JimMalcolm  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes... coming soon. (Sept. 1st to be exact). We have added a tool that will give you control over the stitch lines based on distance. After you add a stitch point you can "fine tune" by either dragging a slider until the stitch is correct or enter a distance, say 6.3 feet, that you want to system to stitch for. Please watch for the official announcement and other new news around IFA, which starts Sept. 1st. in Berlin.

    • @JimMalcolm

      At the top of the Render Menu select "2D", which will create a 360 degree, 2D file; this will remove the 3D top/bottom format you're seeing now. Also, if you open the "advanced" options tab you'll find that you can select either the right or left eye to render. Let me know if this works for you.

      Have you posted any videos? I'd like to see what you're referring to. There are 4 "risky" areas during stitch, each 90 degrees from each other. You'll want to keep you subject about two meters away on those corners. Nonetheless, please send me a link to some of your videos.

    • @JimMalcolm
      @JimMalcolm  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hand-hold my camera on a short selfie stick about 30 inches from my face. Just make sure your subject (face) is on camera axis and not on a corner. I'm working on a video that I shot while riding a longboard with no major stitching errors. I'll post that over the weekend.
