RAW SCRIPT:
Before we begin let's go over the basics, what you'll need:
1. The obvious, an Apple TV (3rd Generation)
2. Not so obvious, a HDMI Cable.
3. A High Definition Television, HDTV or HD Display capable of 720p or 1080p resolution with a HDMI connector.
And now, what you'll need for the 3 Set up Options:
For Option 1: An iOS 7 device, such as the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, not available for iPhone 4 or iPad 2.
For Option 2: Your Wi-Fi network password if you use one.
And for Option 3: An Ethernet network cable.
Let's first connect one end of the HDMI cable to the back of your HDTV or Display and connect the other end of the cable to the HDMI port on the back of the Apple TV.
Second, connect one end of the power cable to the power port on the back of Apple TV.
Thirdly, turn on the TV or Display and plug in the power cord from the Apple TV to a power outlet.
When the Apple TV come on for the first time, you are asked to choose a language.
From here you can Set Up your Apple TV with one of the following three options:
Option 1:
Use an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 7 to connect automatically to your wireless network and sets up your Apple TV.
As the instruction on the screen, unlock your device, enable Bluetooth, and touch this Apple TV with it.
Then on the first screen prompt on your iOS device, enter your Apple ID and password or to cancel press the menu button on the Apple TV remote or tap cancel on your iOS device.
So, assuming you have pressed ok, the second screen prompt ask if you want to remember your password, I would personally decline, especially if you have children around. The last screen prompt, ask if you wish to send anonymous data to Apple, select you choice and the Automatic Setup will begin. Unlike Options 2 and 3 that follows, this Option will also automatically sets up your iTunes Store.
After the connection, activation and iTunes process has finished, you will be presented with the Apple TV's Welcome screen.
if you are not ready to start sharing your music or photos via iTunes, I would hold off using this Option.
Option 2:
After selecting your language, the Apple TV scans for any available Wi-Fi network available. Choose yours and enter a password if you have one and the Apple TV's connection and activation process will begin, once complete, you are asked if you wish to send anonymous data to Apple, select you choice, then the screen will go blank for a few seconds and a progress wheel will appear where you are finally presented with the Apple TV's Welcome screen.
Finally;
Option 3:
By far the easiest and my personal favorite, just connect an Ethernet cable from the back of your Network Router and the other end to the port at the back of the Apple TV.
And again, after selecting your language, Apple TV's connection and activation process will begin, once complete, you are asked if you wish to send anonymous data to Apple, select you choice, then the screen will go blank for a few seconds and a progress wheel will appear where you are finally presented with the Apple TV's Welcome screen. - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต

Yes
Thx you this was a lot of help
You're most welcome +Bobbie Lynn
Everytime i touch my iphone to the apple tv it says need wifi connection to connect to apple tv i thought i could connect without wifi!?
If it says you need a wifi connection than that's what you need. You could Google about this issue and see if there's another method. I personally connect via. Wifi.
Serge Siou so then theres no way to connect unless we have wifi?
Connecting my Apple TV with Ethernet does not work. Gives IP outside my Router range. (According to some posts it does not see the LAN) Ethernet cable works perfectly with 2 laptops and tested with a Ethernet tester.
Alex Moolman Hi all,
Can you please help me, I’ve try to restore my Apple TV 2nd generation, I’ve lost the remote and I downloaded the Apple TV remote app but is not working; I’ve trying on iPad and iPhone 8 Plus but the remote app still not recognise the Apple TV: please help
The music is too loud. It makes the video difficult to watch. But the information is good.
Apologies Funk Daddy...those were my early days of doing screen casting, had several audio issues. Thanks for your comment.
No problem. Good luck with all your work.
Thank you very much.
can i set up with android phone samsung galaxy A3
+emil danc...don't think so, unless there's an Android app for it
+Serge Siou i got the remute apple aswel so whot i need to do ??
+emil danc don't understand your question
+Serge Siou i mean why i need iphone or i pad for to set up??
+emil danc the video shows 3-options for Apple TV setup...use the one that works for you
So you plug it in and it's supposed to just 'come on'.....? What if you plug it in and nothing happens? What source channel?..... kinda skipped that bit
Yep...that's what worked for me. Everything shown on video is what happened when I used the Apple TV 3rd Gen. If you get other issues on your Apple TV then I would suggest you contact Apple Support. Hope that helps. FYI: it's been awhile since I setup my Apple TV, I just update whenever a message comes up to do so.
My iPhone doesn’t even recognize the Apple TV...just stays at searching. I’ve tried all the troubleshooting tips I can find
Sorry to hear that...since you've tried everything, I would suggest you contact Apple Support on Twitter. They usually have a solution. Hope that helps.

Waw you comentes 3 years ago and I saw your comen after 3 hours
I'll share my solution. First, bring the used Apple TV 3rd generation, back to factory settings. (Connect the unit to a computer with a usb cable then go to Itunes) Next plug your unit into your TV. You should now have a black screen with a computer voice saying "Welcome to Apple TV..." at the bottom it says "If you have a bluetooth keyboard turn it on now". If you don't have a bluetooth keyboard -- GET ONE!!! Only $13 for the Jellycomb brand on Amazon. The $6.95 knock off replacement remotes may or may not work. A used genuine used for the 3rd generation Apple remote is about $20. But the phone app works as a remote. (Yes, but only after you set up your apple TV to accept your phone app remote as the new remote). (It's in "Settings" "General" "Remotes") Yes, but to do that you have to move that damn cursor over to the right!
