- In this video I will be showing you guys how to connect iphone or ipad to Apple TV 4th generation via AirPlay Mirroring on TvOS11 without wireless network connection. This method also works on TvOS 10.2.2 and Apple TV 3rd generation with latest update.

It works!! you disconnected the wi-if network
But you can use the 4G instead to see anything on internet

it will work,but depends what you want it to do,it will not work on streaming apps such as TH-cam or Netflix,requires an internet connection.
Airplay-You only do this if you want to share something from inside your phone (photos, etc.) for your household to watch.. like what he did. But don’t dare use it for Netflix , iTunes Movie or other HD movie streaming otherwise all load will be on your phone and you’ll gonna pay a lot from your phone service provider. Also, it will defeat the overall purpose of Apple TV hardware capabilities.

This does not seem to work with TH-cam Netflix etc. IOW, only works with non-video media and only video you recorded.
Yes. You are right. I noticed that A lot of streaming apps has stop working with peer to peer streaming.
Indeed ... public streaming required internet and wifi ... Bluetooth only works for photo and video captured in your own device - useful if worried about internet hacking and surveillance but then Bluetooth ought to be guarded against hackers too.

That's true. You can mirror anything from your iphone to your apple tv without WIFI AND as long as the pictures or VIDEOS are residing locally on your iphone. What I need is to STREAM youtube or DirecTV programs and mirror it to my AppleTV from my iphone. When I do simply what you did, I get a blank screen on both my TV and my phone. BUT - if I turn on my hotspot and get my Apple TV to connect to it, I get all the mirroring + all the streaming. The question is: "HOW MUCH hotspot data does APPLE TV use in receving moving picture signals from my iphone while I am streaming? (I am aware that my iphone is using data from my service provider when I watch streaming shows and I am not worried about that because I have UNLIMITED data. But I have a LIMITED HOTSPOT data and I am trying to figure out how much data my apple TV is using, if at all) Do you KNOW?
if you want to watch any streaming apps such as TH-cam,Spectrum TV,Netflix.Etc. this will not work,Android phones will work,no Apple TV required,to mirror an iPhone you must use the HDMI to lightning wired to TV,no internet connection required but will use data from you cell phone provider.I wasted $120 on an Apple TV before I seen the second video.
On my Apple TV for the ‘room’ setting it says it needs and iCloud account for that to be set that’s the first thing. And next problem is my iPhone ‘mirror’ button does not detect my Apple TV. It’s just shows it’s continuously searching .
This is Not working at all.
There is a much easier way. Connect Apple TV to your iPhone’s hotspot and that’s it. You can view content on Apple TV without any outside WiFi network.
And seems that it is working also with older apple tv’s gen’s.
Poor video I could not see what you were doing on the iPhone.. when you established the connection.. I have an Apple 4k… AirPlay is on and set to everyone…. However I do not know what you did on the phone.. as I could not see what you were doing…. I assume you switched on Bluetooth…. I did this on my phone but it does not see the Apple TV… what am I doing wrong?

Loved this brother!! Very informative! I’m traveling to class rooms, conference rooms and speaking events doing presentations. I need to have highly mobile and easy to setup workflow at these locations. And it’s always a pain to connect to a schools WiFi network just to name one.

I would plug the Apple TV into any screen at these locations. Then pair it to my cellular iPad Pro. Then use screen share to project my iPad presentation.

Just a flaw with tech. Way too many setup to get it mirror. It used to be with apple products being minimal setup and straight connectivity. Microsoft / IBM used to be the one with all the required setup to get things running. Boy have time changed. For the expectation for windows and android. Microsoft has a wireless display adapter where you click a setting and connect. That's is and it mirrored. For some reasons, probably we all know why, apple product is excluded with their products for connectivity. Also, no need to require WiFi to be on the same or messing with Bluetooth.
The issue with your method is, if you walk into a conference room and need to mirror your apple product, but you have no WiFi info to connect to, no cellular internet to connect to, what are you going to do to show your presentation where you need to grab your documents from the cloud? Ok. Let's, say you get WiFi connection for the sake of mirroring, but the WiFi does not connect to the internet. Still, its useless since you have no internet connection by WiFi or cellular. You see the issue?
Microsoft wireless adapter doesnt have this problem, it doesnt rely on bluetooth, WiFi or cellular as a condition to connect. Its just disappointing they don't also connect apple product to their adapter or it would have been perfect.

my apple tv 1st generation did not show any available wifi networks. i have tried everything. reset, adjustments etc other devices, “see” my WIFI networks but apple tv dont. please help
It’s not worth it because if you want to stream a movie wouldn’t you prefer to stream it trough WiFi ? Not wasting any of your 4G?

Good to know. Would be nice if you could stream internet content (For example TV video from Dish Network satellite programs) to the ATV via BT. In other words keep the iPhone or iPad connected to the internet and have a dedicated Bluetooth stream the the Apple TV.
Copied - What I usually do to solve this problem is to turn on my phone hotspot, and get my apple TV to connect to that hotspot as its "wifi signal", then mirror as usual with all the procedures was described in the peer to peer mirroring and BEHOLD - it works. In a foreign country, motel or whatever without wifi, you can view streaming on your TV from your iphone with just your APPLE TV connected to it. But it begs the question - when you have limited hotspot, how much data does it draw from your hotspot data if any?
Ok so I'm confused as to why I must "forget" wifi on my device iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. They both have mirroring. I can see it work as soon as I check Mirror to ✔️Apple TV. I was able to stream a tv series from an anonymous site on the internet for about an hour. Later it started pausing continuously. Will your method be a go around for streaming any content?

As long as the display you use has vertical display setting, then yes. This method is simply display your device content on the bigger screen with its native orientation, either horizontal or vertical. Hope this helps.
So my Apple TV doesn't stay on the general screen its says connection error and brings me back to the home screen. I am not able to access any apps and whenever I try to it says the same thing and brings me back to the home screen again. Is there a solution to this?

I want to mirror my iPhone 6S to a new Apple TV I just bought to use in my RV when I don’t have WiFi. I can’t get past the setup page which requires a WiFi connection. Anyone have a suggestion?

Unfortunately, if you experience this issue on some apps, which means the app won’t let you do peer-to-peer connection, active internet connection is needed on both devices.

You can’t AirPlay Netflix they removed the feature.
