  • Testing out all my Apple devices - iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro, and Mac Mini in the hopes of finding the best way of playing Xbox Cloud Gaming. I recent bought an Xbox Series X, and subscribe to Xbox Game Pass, and without a gaming PC anymore, I wondering, can Xbox Cloud Gaming be a substitute for a gaming PC? Watch for more.

The Xbox cloud service must be improved, for sure. There is a lot of potential though. However, the console streaming via Xbox app is really good! I travelled a couple of weeks ago and decided to bring my Xbox controller to try playing with my iPad mini 6. The experience was solid! I used the Hilton’s Wi-Fi and got no delay, lags or anything!

I have tried Xbox Cloud Gaming and I had a fun time for the most part. I used it on Android and the experience is much better compared to iOS. One advantage that Android has is that you can hook up your controller via USB-C to help reduce latency. There is still some room for improvement and I hope we get to a point where most of the technical issues are resolved. I just wish Apple wasn’t so stubborn about cloud gaming as I think it would be a success for the platform.

You are having a common Wifi 6 issue with conflicting hardware, as such your speeds would improve if you went down to Wifi 5. Xbox Game Pass Cloud gaming have screen controls for some games. It usually mentioned it in the game listing. Whilst you are likely to experience lag with streaming, your setup adds lag with the Wifi and it’s aforementioned issue, and the controller being connected to Bluetooth. Microsoft recently showed a new feature that is suppose lower latency by a lot. Good video.

I'm using the game pass ultimate right now with my smartphone and a controller with an smartphone holder.
It's quite impressive how far technology has come that you don't necessarily need an expensive console laptop or PC to be able to play video games.
But you really have to have a good internet connection!
I sometimes have render issues where there's a wave going down on the screen and that is sometimes really annoying especially when playing games like battlefield 4 or nfs heat.
Idk if that issue is rather from the servers provided by xbox or if it comes from my end.
But then when it works without that issue then it is really fun!
I'm definitely gonna keep that subscription go8ng for now just because they're adding so many nice games every month!
Also I wonder why Apple didn't got into cloud gaming yet!

For playing on MacOS be aware that for aostnall cloud gaming options you have to look into the location services fix. It's simply a toggle setting but it's a deeper top level setting so it may or may not be a hassle for those interested.
If it would be a hassle having a second login on Mac with the setting disabled and is just for cloud streaming helps a lot.
Which also addresses the issue with desktop cloud gaming general which is that it functions best on a device which doesn't ping the internet unnecessarily

I assume performance will vary by location since some people may be closer to Microsofts data centers than others. The latency should improve over time once fiber optic cabling becomes the norm. If anything, it's the convenience factor that is the selling point for cloud gaming in it's current state.

    • @MrSkiman111
      @MrSkiman111 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Exactly
I subscribed to cloud gaming without owning an Xbox ($1 for 3 months deal) and gotta say I’m still fairly impressed. I travel A LOT for work, and being able to play games on my iPad that aren’t Apple Arcade games it pretty convenient. I actually do plan on purchasing a Series X once I get back home.
But the kicker is: hotels have awful internet speeds. I find myself having to plug into Ethernet via dongle to get a playable experience at times.

i have the opposite experience with cloud gaming, i also use xbox game pass and honestly i really enjoy it, i usually play mortal kombat 11 and forza with a controller plug in to help reduce input lag and honestly for me, lag and resolution is never a problem, of course you have the occasional freezes but overall i do really enjoy, i think it varies a lot because i get about 50-70 mbps and when playing games like mk11 where having input lag just messes up the experience completely, i gotta say i do really enjoy it

I use Xbox Cloud Gaming on my android tv connected by cable to my router... is good, the cable conectivity do a lot of difference, the slow thing in here, appart of the streaming, is the bluetooth controller, the delay is a lot less noticiable with cable controller, at least in Android... i gaming skyrim only on the TV when i'm bored, and sometimes i do a race or two on FH5...
Another thing, you have to give it time before it starts to work and look well, after 10-15 minutes it improves a lot, it probably just aument your priority on the server...

I’ve played Jedi Fallen Order and Fortnite (online) on iOS and no problems so far aside from the “graininess” on dark screens. For me it’s worth it since I travel a lot with no room for anything else besides my iPhone or iPad.

i use an 2017 macbook air via WLAN. I plug in my stadia-controller via USB and use brave. might use edge too. there is like no input lag at all, really. I can handle the fastest forza 5 cars, no problem. sometimes the image quality is not the cleanest, but MS edge might solve this. xcloud is fkn amazing, i'm very surprised.

Yeah, me as well. My girlfriend just give me a Backbone for my birthday and I was able to get ultimate game pass and give the games a try. Really impressed by the fidelity and overall responsiveness of playing a AAA title without owning the console and just streaming it at home on my iPad. I’ve been missing out on this next generation of Consol games as my schedule does not allow me to play like my younger years so I couldn’t justify the big price point just to be playing ever so often. But now, with a backbone and just a game pass subscription, I’m able to partake and experience some level of NexGen gaming. All in all great experience.

I’ve had some terrible experiences with cloud gaming, but recently tried it again. With the Microsoft Edge browser on IOS, it’s as smooth as it can be.
Android is surprisingly good, I played Hitman and it was very fun, yes it performs like a potato most of the time, but I manage. Still thinking if I’ll buy GeForce Now or continue using Xbox cloud.

I have decent internet but the router is downstairs and can't be moved as it's connected to the only phone line in the house, and so have to connect from upstairs via Wi-fi. My speeds are 41.87 download and 17.54 upload, and the Ping is 15ms I think. Is this a good enough connection for GeForce now?

The cloud has come a long way from a year ago. The only thing I don’t like is when it’s a lot of people playing a certain game and you have to wait “x” amount of minutes to jump in the server but other than that, it’s always been impressive to me on ANY apple device. So easy to connect a PS5 or Xbox controller i used to stream using the cloud. When I’m in the studio and pass my clients a controller, their eyebrows always raises. One of a few Ws from Microsoft. First W in my book by them is forza horizon. There is really not a game out there that can top that game and it’s still room for improvements. That’s so impressive to me.

I have a 55" Samsung TV no XBOX (using Xbox series X controller) and it is working great !!!! Just wondering Is there any way to get to my saved games at all ? I would like to save some backup copies. Do we even know who/where the Auto and Quick saves are being saved ??? I know smart TV's have memory or is the Game pass saving them in the Cloud probably ??? There are plenty of saved games I can re-load but (if you save to many times they get written over), It would be really Kool if we could download them to replay later. This way I find out how the game changes after you make certain choices during the game. If you play a lot of Xbox games you know certain game choices change the game. Going back and making a different choice is a way to really make the game more fun and get more play time out of it.
