- Larian Studio's is growing! They just opened a new studio in CD Project Reds backyard. Is this a power more? Will their next Big RPG be first person? Lets talk about it!

Tell me what kind of game you want to see Larian Studios make?
The issue with first-person perspective only RPGs is that it hinders character customization. Cyberpunk suffered this as well, because outisde of riding bikes, few reflective surfaces and photo mode, there was no point investing in how your character looks, which is a huge part of why people play RPGs. Just imagine if you couldnt see your characters during exploration or cutscenes in BG3.
When I say first person I really mean with the ability to play in third person as well.
Your take is exactly what I have been suspecting(and hoping for) too. Smaller game to adjust the new tech needed before they go all in. Would love to see them pick up where Skyrim left off with things like what radiant AI was envisioned as being, as well as storylines that are more reactive to what the player does/has done in the open world
Yeah I'd be so happy if they do it
Larian already had made a first person rpg Divinity II. The Divinity III would be great, with the experience they have now.
I really hope they're working on dos 3.
They are making 2 games so one of them will most likely be that
Awesome!
Thanks!
I can't really imagine a 1st person Baldurs Gate 3. It's pretty close to the D&D rules and I have not enough imagination to combine 1st person with a turn-based ruleset.
Larian Studios is done with DnD they said they are no longer making any DnD focused games so whever they are doing next is either something entirely new or a new divinity game.
@@stillsolo I totally agree.
Besides that: I don't have the imagination to think how you could make a 1st person game from a turn-based rulebook.
Do you know any examples, where the source was a turn-based system, but the product was a real-time 1st person game?
Great Video !
Glad you enjoyed it
Larian mostly makes box opening simulators. And most of their games have been in an isometric view so a departure from those two would be very far outside their comfort zone. Maybe they will make a first person box opening simulator first.
Well to be fair just because a studio is know for making a type of game doesn't mean they can't do something new and be good at it. Just look at CD Project Red. They were making third person games and then made an FPS (Cyberpunk 2077) which ended up being great.
Personal BG3 and the Divinity series were perfect, I really hate FPS and fist person games they just aren't fun.... but it might be because I'm better at slower strategy games.
Nothing wrong with that. I like both but I personally enjoy more 1st and 3rd person stype RPGs.
God, I hope not.
Yes yes yes
Why?
@@stillsolo For several reasons.
- because I STRONGLy disagree with your implication that there's something wrong or "dated" about a top down view and in fact I find that type of camera in party based games incredibly appealing from an aesthetic standpoint.
- because I'm a big fan of tactical turn-based games and I would not be happy at all about losing one of the current major players in the business of developing titles in that "niche".
- because, even as a big fan of GOOD immersive sims (which are a rare breed in general) the skillset and level of technical prowess required to pull off a first person game is entirely different, not to mention way outside of Larian's current expertise.
- because, unlike their tactical battle systems, their previous attempts at third person camera and combat have been mediocre at best.
@@TucoBenedicto Never said there is anything wrong or "dated" with top down view. It's no suprise to anyone that third person or first person style RPG's have much more approach and reach over a top down much less turn based system.
@@stillsolo maybe? But I don't care about what "anyone" may think has more potential reach. I still like top-down, party based CRPGs the most.
What i really want to see is a bg3 style first-person VR game made by Larion studios.
Sadly Larian is no longer making any D&D themed games
Would be fine but to be honest, I prefer non action rpgs.
Nothing wrong with that.
