You were completely right here! This song is about people hypocrisy in judging other people by the way they died, as stated by the guitarist himself during an interview. Keep on man!

So, I been subscribed for a minute, and i genuinely enjoy you; I think you put aside preconceived notions of what music like this supposedly entails and, like many people that came to enjoy music like this in the first place, have an appreciation for the ability to play an instrument in the way some artists do.
One thing I think would be great for you, and this channel because no one seems to be doing much if any, is bringing punk music up more. A lot of what's popular is never really punk music, but i digress.
I recommend anything by the Dead Kennedys, but I'd specify more popular ones like "Police Truck", "Holiday in Cambodia", and "California Uber Alles".
While the Dead Kennedys are a prime example of earlier punk, there comes skate punk in the 90s defined mostly with NOFX. "We Called It America", "Separation of Church and Skate", "Wolves in Solves' Clothing", "The Man I Killed" are my recommendations.
I could go on, but i think thats more than enough on my end and i would appreciate if you at least thought it over. Thanks again man! You rock and keep it up!

Guitarist Daron Malakian, who wrote it with lead singer Serj Tankian, explained: "The song is about how when people die, they will be regarded differently depending on the way they pass. Like, if I were to die from a drug overdose, everyone would say I deserved it because I abused drugs, hence the line 'Angels deserve to die.'"
So basically you were spot on

The song is at least in part about domestic abuse with the verse talking about hiding scars with makeup.
"father why have you forsaken me" and "into your hands i commend my spirit" are allegedly the last things jesus said before his death. According to the bible. 🙄 given serj's views on christianity and religion in general the lines are likely used sarcastically.

It's basically saying everything we do will one day lead to our deaths so in the long run we are all responsible as a self righteous suicide.... But we all get judged differently on the how's. ......they are an American band made up of Armenians. Many songs have to do with politic power and death as they especially bring to light the Armenian genocides.....in this case "I cry when angels deserve to die " the angels representing the Armenians like really how did they deserve to die during a genocide?

I can't remember what they said it was about but I always felt it was like a case of abuse, and they overdosed..... so the self righteous suicide is.. die by accident or something??? Idk lol but the angles the deserve to die I guess ties in with "guardian angles".... and the sad moment they arent there to protect someone from evil..... pulling this out of my ass mostly lol
