    Isn't it recommended to adjust the grind while the machine is running?

  • @James-bm9dn
    @James-bm9dn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    The output was 3 fluid oz = 88 mL = 88 g of espresso, approximately. Starting with 21 g of coffee, that will be weak espresso, right?
    It seems about a 1:3 coffee to water ratio.

    I purchased one of these and I love how well it performs at the price point. Great demonstration on how to dial in with this grinder. I think some more closeups of the bottomless portafilter would have been helpful to see any problems with the extraction. I use a dosing cup to avoid those weight issues that you were experiencing.

  • @flipy_
    @flipy_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Why do you measure output in volume instead of by weight?

  • @joebusdriver
    @joebusdriver 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    All of this gear is out of my price range... But that shirt is dialed in just right.

    Just wondering why you don’t purge a bit of coffee from the grinder between shots so you’re not using some leftover coffee from the previous grind setting

    I vote use a scale. Crema can make it hard to simply go by volume. Otherwise good video.

      +1, actually james hoffmann's vid changed me from eyeballing volume to actually scaling and try different brew ratios

    On scales that have timers, can you just use the timer after you've dialed in the shot by weight if you're using the same beans?

    the t-shirt, is amazing. No need to speak for the Eureka of the Rocket.....they rock, you rock! Greetings from Athens Greece, we wish we could order European goods from you guys!

    I am curious why you wouldn't be doing this by weight for the shot? It seems like that is what is the most accurate because visually it may look smaller or larger in the shot glass but it may be way off weight wise compared to how long the time was. It seems like using a scale....using time as a reference and seeing where you are at weight wise seems way more accurate and repeatable. Am I off on this?

    I am excited to get the Notte I just ordered last night on Amazon after Meg my lovely wife gave me the green for go, this one seems like the best bang for the buck for an espresso grinder, after I did a lot of online research! Thank you so much Seattle Coffee Gear for being a seller on Amazon :) Glad to do business with a local company in both regards :)

      @@SeattleCoffeeGear When it finally arrives, order it Sept 9th & still do not have it! Thanks FEDEX - that shipping company completely messed up. They have sent other packages of mine to my old addresses neighbor or to other states // when every other Amazon purchase sent other ways shows up to the correct address with a day or two. This is day 11. I could drive to Florida & back with a car full of stuff twice in this time frame. I am not sure what Fedex is doing with my package!

    Not clearing the chute between pulls is probably messing with the flavor a lot in dialing it in. That said, I’m having an issue with the Crono where despite consistent 21g attempts my puck is coming out bone dry. I thought I was perhaps grinding too fine but the ranges I’ve tried just aren’t producing drinkable shots.
    What am I doing wrong here? Starting to feel this is an issue with the machine and not operator error. . .

    • @bluemystic7501
      @bluemystic7501 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why does the moisture level of your puck matter? How do your shots taste?

    • @JodouTR
      @JodouTR 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bluemystic7501 We ended up getting a Sette 270 and putting the Crono on drip coffee duty. It was indeed the grinder as our shots instantly improved with the new grinder. What’s sad is the Eureka cost more and did a worse job. 😒

    • @bluemystic7501
      @bluemystic7501 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JodouTR I don't think the Crono is meant for espresso and the Sette is 60% more expensive.

    really helpful vid, well done. Quick question, can I return unground beans back to storagetin and maintain the oils/ freshness or is that not suggested? I would rather put more than a single dose into the hopper for speed and measure grounds.

      Check out james hoffman video on regrinding coffee he goes into single dosing towards the end of it and the benefits of slowly grinding alittle bit of coffee beans at a time

    • @cookiekid31

      Honestly in terms of ease of use and keeping beans fresh I would just single dose

    How much is 3 ounces in grams? What is your brew ratio? Why haven't you used a scale to measure the in cup weight? For god sake we are in 2020 not in 1920. And i wish you would have shown the dial setting.
