Hello, nice dudes! Today we changed things up and decided to watch an early 2000's classic, SHE'S THE MAN, starring Amanda Bynes and Channing Tatum. We laughed quite a lot.

I feel like this flick is the type of stuff that Netflix originals should be. They have that charm about them where everyone's ok with looking goofy. All the Netflix stuff you see now has younger people just trying to look cool or just barely acting. Seems like everyone who worked on this movie knows what tone they're going for.
Such a great reaction. This movie is so entertaining. The shower scene where Channing Tatum slaps the guy with the towel actually hit the guy in the eye and that was a real reaction from him. Amanda Byrnes looked so much like a boy with the wig and side burns that it led to massive depression. She also fought for Channing Tatum to get the role of Duke which he credits her for jumpstarting his career. Technically they would have to either forfeit or she couldn’t play in the game due to she’s not enrolled in the school or on the team roster.

Also the actor playing their coach, is Vinnie Jones. Who WAS a professional English football player for years. Before getting into acting, his first role was Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. (He was known as the bad boy of Football and was quite a vicious player haha)
I had the "wait, is that the actress from AIRPLANE!?" moment at the beginning, glad you guys finally caught up to it, lol! It was driving me crazy.
When my daughter was a teenager, we'd watch this movie over and over, and quote it whenever possible. I still find it hilarious, even though you have to suspend belief at times.
Julie Haggerty, the mom, is terribly underrated as a comedic actress. Im so impressed that you remember her as Elaine, from Airplane.
P.S. She (Amanda Bynes ) took on a Southern accent because the story takes place somewhere in the South.
I had to watch this in English class and the only thing I could think of was “holy shit this is the most violently 2006 movie I’ve ever seen”

The Coach is played by a man known as Vinnie Johnes...
Vinnie was a professional footballer player who was one of the FASTEST red card holders in history because someone insulted his family and before the whistle blew he ran at the guy and flying kicked him at under 5 seconds.
He then went into acting after his football career and became a famous Englishman actor...
He now plays badass Englishman characters.
I suggest checking out Mean Machine...
If you've ever seen the longest yard, that's a parody of mean machine. I won't spoil it, but be prepared for violence and vinnie being a nutter.

I loved Amanda Bynes so much! She was such a talented and funny actress. I hope that she has found peace and happiness.
I have to say out of all the adaptations of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night this is definitely, one of them.
If you guys haven't seen "10 Things I hate About You", please wtach it ASAP. It's the best highschool romcom I know of. Based on The Taming of the Shrew

Classic early 2000 movie. It was a great movie modernized version of Shakespeares's "The Twelfth Night." Miss these kind of movies.
Ten things I hate about you was also modernized Shakespeare. The best rom com are modernized plays. She’s all that was based on my fair lady.
I saw the 80s movie Just One of the Guys long before I knew about The Twelfth Knight, so that's what comes to mind whenever anyone mentions She's the Man

It's got a young Helena Bonham Carter in it from before she started doing creepier roles, Ben Kingsley has a pretty good singing voice in it as well.

The coach is Vinnie Jones - previously a soccer player, his first movie was Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - which is a brilliant movie (also Guy Ritchies first movie). Well worth the watch.

I just rewatched this movie and realized how amazing Amanda Bynes was. She's does both cute and goofy so naturally.

Do you mean “EuroTrip”? I didn’t. Vinny wasn’t as featured in that as he was in the others. And “Mean Machine” was HIS movie. Besides, everyone goes to “Eirotrip” for him. It’s a predictable choice.

This movie's plot reminds me of a similar premise in "Just One of the Guys" from the 80's, where a young woman pretends to be a guy for equal treatment for a writing contest and a summer internship at a newspaper. The movie is way more interesting than it sounds tbh.
I see a lot of ppl mentioning Shakespeare's "The Twelfth Knight", but I remember that when She's the Man came out a lot of ppl compared it to the 80s movie Just One of the Guys
This is one of my comfort movies. It is also one of my favorite Shakespeare plays.
I love these old Amanda Bynes movies, don't remember the name of it, but the one where she goes to the UK to live with her dad is pretty dang awesome.

It's so funny that the coach in this is Vinnie Jones. He's known as one of the most brutal football players back in the hooligan days. He broke bones for the 'Dons when they were known for riots and deaths in the stands. Look up the picture of him crushing that dude's nuts in his hand on the pitch.

Every TH-camr that reacts to this movie, the screenshot is always a freeze frame of when she flashes her twins to prove she's a girl. LOL. Apparently, that's universally chosen as the most memorable scene in the movie. I heard you guys experienced a similar situation a few years ago. But it wasn't football, you dressed up like pandas at the zoo. I'm not gonna get into it, I hear it was a traumatic experience for both you guys and the zookeeper.
