  • In this video, Nandita Mahajan, a year 4 Clinical Student shares her thoughts on why she chose AUA, one of the top Caribbean medical schools.
She says “I went to undergrad under a scholarship. I wanted the same for my MD because I didn't want my mom and dad to be overburdened by the expenses because going to a medical school in the US is really expensive. Being international, going to a US school for medical education only the top ones take you in and that's like out of reach for the majority of us.
Nandita shares the reason why she chose AUA over other medical schools, “So my advisor suggested me to look at AUA. I came across the fact that AUA is supported by APPI, which is the American Association of Physicians of Indian origin which is the second-largest organization in the U.S. So I was like, yeah that seems like a pretty good institution to back up AUA.”
Talking about the curriculum, Nandita shares: “The unique thing about AUA curriculum I felt was the intersession which we had in between the semesters in which you could do research work, you could shadow a physician if you want, or you could serve the community.”
The Manipal Academy of Higher Education partners with AUA to provide medical aspirants with the opportunity to study in one of the top Caribbean medical schools. After completing the initial two years of the pre-med programs and Bachelor of Science from Manipal, the students can then study medicine for the remaining 4 to 5 years at the AUA College of medicine in Antigua.
