Luckily pre covid when my fuel tap failed not only my local scooter shop Atoms scooters in maidstone supplied the part but also let me use their tools in shop to replace the new fuel tap. I did bring the tank with me. Scooter community ! Nice job ...enjoying this video
Great bit of innovation Dom, well done. It's not the £15 saving it's the satisfaction of sorting it out without the delay of waiting for it to arrive, probably from China. Regards Keith
Ingenious! Scooters are not my thing, but your inventiveness on that “spanner” was great. Another interesting video. I’m binge-watching all your stuff. Les
Well done Dom! Nice to see an honest restoration instead of making it look like it just came off the production line like so many do. Good work on the tool you made, always remember " It ain't stupid if it works" Cheers Simon
I just vinyl wrapped the surface of new old tank i replaced little RED as it was blue . Bought from the person who scraps old vespas . The purpose is the same protection .
A basin wrench, used in plumbing to tighten the a large nut on the under side of a sink, when installing faucets, would work for the fuel tank valve nut.
I’ve restored many Vespas over the years , great work so far better than some Vespa mechanics I’ve seen . My tank spanner is a spanner cut down welded to bar out of a mastic gun !
I'm so glad you kept the original paint. too many other Vespa owners are quick to paint over it, like you said, its less work to do that. Then to do what you did. At this point you're preserving the history of that Vespa. I cannot stand ANY customization of these old bikes. Keep it all original as much as possible. Only replace whats missing or too far gone.
Making your own tool is a great idea and something ive had to do in the past, quick tip though you could have put a magnet on it to help get the nut back on again
Dom - you could have saved yourself lots of time and effort making a tool for the internal nut - ever heard of a box spanner..?? Even if you could only get a short one you could have used your fabrication skills to extend.! Great programme.! Dead jealous was goin to do a Vespa up myself sometime.!
Good idea, it wouldn’t have worked though as the breathe tube comes up and bends out at and angle, also during strict lockdown all the shops were closed! Thanks for the comment, glad you liked it!
Hey where did you get that paint matched so well?? Have a yellow beetle and struggled to get it matched and still isn’t as good as that Greet videos by the way

Always get satisfaction from making special tools to solve problem and save money, you did a great job on yours Dom.👍👍
I don't have the right tool, so "I'll just make my own". The man.
Followed you here from Repair Shop. Love that and love this. Thanks for sharing Dom! 👍
Very professional TH-cam channel. Great camerawork and editing
Great first video, I would have been temped to do a full respray after so much fab work, but each tother own 👍😁.
Great bit of innovation Dom, well done. It's not the £15 saving it's the satisfaction of sorting it out without the delay of waiting for it to arrive, probably from China. Regards Keith
Exactly!! its very rewarding
Making yr own tools? Damn good skills to have.
I like that you are keeping the original paint color. You are not “mental,”
Looking forward to each new video. As with the Repair Shop it's great to see in this throw away society. Great workshop by the way.

Glad to hear it thank you, there’s a new video going up at 3pm today!
Hey Dom. 👋🏻😃 Great job pal. Tank looks awesome and nice home made tool!! 🇬🇧 Deano. 😃👍🏻
"So clean you could eat yer dinner of of it". But you would have fashion another special tool to do that! A great watch again.
Yellow is a relatively easy colour to match and with this build that’s just perfect 👌 great job 👍🏼
4:20 that's why god invented box spanners 👌
You can get a "crow foot" for your ratchet for a few quid..............But you made your own. brilliant!!
I didn’t have a choice all the shops were closed due to Covid! Thanks for watching
Nice one Dom. You were made for a You Tube channel. Great watch. Very jealous of your workshop! 👍
Love that ya made the tool you needed.
Well done Dom! Nice to see an honest restoration instead of making it look like it just came off the production line like so many do. Good work on the tool you made, always remember " It ain't stupid if it works" Cheers Simon
So glad you agree, thank you
Great to watch Dom
Very interesting resto job. Personally I wouldn't be able to resist repainting it.

I wish I had the time in my life to just potter with stuff like this as much as I wanted
Edd China and Dom, that would be fantastic.
Top work Dom! Fuel tank looks awesome!
Thank you! I am really pleased with it

How did you clean the inside of it?

Love to see you on youtube ! Only really watch the repair shop for the metal working projects that you do ! Keep the videos coming ! All the best !
Thats really kind, I will keep making more don't worry!
A great tool Dom, kind regards, Richard.
It worked well!

Nice one Dom, been following you on Instagram it’s good to see more detail on your TH-cam videos.
Awesome! Thank you!
Great work, May I ask how you cleaned out the inside of the tank ?
Yeah - I'd like to know that too!
Dom - you could have saved yourself lots of time and effort making a tool for the internal nut - ever heard of a box spanner..?? Even if you could only get a short one you could have used your fabrication skills to extend.! Great programme.! Dead jealous was goin to do a Vespa up myself sometime.!

A crow's foot spanner would probably work. But of course you'd need to have of buy one :)
Superb DOM I’m sure that replacement nut was harder to fit than you made it look... QQ how did you get the old nut off the old sender unit?
cool tank episode :) and making your own tool for that job :) great idea to save some cash :)
How did you get the inside clean??
I have a cut socket welded to a L shaped rod for my petcock removal tool.
Nice idea! I couldnt bring myself to cutting one of my sockets!
A plumber's basin wrench will work for the nut in the fuel tank.
Loving the videos but when you going to do a Lambretta 😀
I reckon I'd have clear coated after the first rub back Dom... looks fab though
That would have worked, as long as all of the rust is removed first.
@@DominicChineas you know me, rust rules.... mostly😂👍
Hey where did you get that paint matched so well?? Have a yellow beetle and struggled to get it matched and still isn’t as good as that
Greet videos by the way
KRS in ashford Kent! Great guys
In my old job we mixed thinners to half the volume of paint, as Boss's instructions. What did you do?
Great video .will you be doing any build work on the porsche in the future .would make a great feature car for 'Hayburner ' magazine
Yes I will be eventually, I need to finish other projects first though
Nice
Very good editing, but why tell when you can show?
Hasn't anybody heard of a box spanner? Widely available an cheap as chips.
Yes we have!
It wouldn’t have worked for this job the vent tube came up and out at an angle..
@@DominicChineas I see your point. Keep up the good work.
you need rubber gasket for nut on tank
plumbers tap wrench would have done that £5 nut in the tank
Oi no Rat jobs!
Vespa is Wasp in Italy.......... you can see why they are called Vespa's then!
