    I tried going up a hill today in my Hammerhead 250 in low gear and it started popping and wouldn't go forward. Sounds like a bad gear that needs replacing?

    Eddie, I busted my cover and am in need of a new one...any suggestions because you are right, 329 is way too much.

    Great upload. I just purchased one of these and reverse does not sound good under load and I fear that I might have to pull mine apart.

    Thanks for posting this, there’s so little on these gearboxes. Is there any chance that you filmed any more after this video stopped? If so would you mind posting it? Thanks again for posting. This really helps.

      @@Doitforyoself Thanks anyway. I appreciate it. This gearbox is a bit frustrating because it just isn’t enough information on it. It really is a kind of cool design though.

    I bought my 250ss in rough shape, I have put it all back together, except I am not sure if there is supposed to be some type of hose on the cover next to where the wires are coming out of the gear box cover, any thoughts. you can see the "Nipple" in your video around 5:09.

    Hi Mate, I have a 500cc cfmoto in a UTV with L H N R. I can run through the selector from R N H no problems and you can hear the click as it seats, but sometimes it won't seat in to L, it's like it almost gets in to gear. Then if you move off with acceleration, you can hear a loud clunk as it seats in to LOW. Is this normal? or should you be able to shift to low gear from neutral and the gear should seat without having to feather the accelerator to seat the LOW gear?
    I have tried it with the rear wheels off the ground with the engine off. If the shifter doesn't seat in to LOW, I can turn the rear wheel by hand a small amount and then try shifting again to LOW and it will seat. It doesn't seem normal to me. The utv is still under warranty, but they tell me it's normal to feather the accelerator when changing between each gear. (So when changing from N to L: N - feather - H - feather - L feather until it seats, then accelerate to move off) Do you think they are trying to get out of fixing this under warranty? or does that sound normal?
    Unfortunately I don't have another UTV or know anyone with a similar set up that I can compare with. Hope this makes sense. Thanks.

      Yes, this is normal. at least this is what has happened to me. the gears on this system is tough and would take a lot for it to break. What will happen over time is the gears will begin to bur (become smooth or wear) around the edges and will slip. When i had my buggy, the only way to get it into low gear was to stop it, give it gas and right before the rpms came down, I threw it into low. I think it's just the way it's built. As long as you're not afraid to get in there and replace or fix a gear, you're good to go. good luck.

      Thank you for the reply. I have since found that if I hold gear shifter in the LOW position and put my foot on the brake and then tap the accelerator I get a positive feel of the gear seating in to LOW through my hand without the UTV lurching forward with the clunk. Good to hear that it's a tough system, and If I can pick up a workshop manual for it I'd definitely have a play inside it when it needs it. Thinking of fitting a one way bearing so that I can get some engine braking down hills, I don't like the idea of playing with brakes on a slippery hill if I don't have to. Thanks again

    sad thing about buying parts for a cf moto bike is they charge crazy prices for the parts at these shops and for wat the parts cost u can buy a whole bike used for the same price as onethe shops and supply stores part ,id just buy a whole bike used b4 i paid over a 100.to 175 bucks for a few parts at least u can strip it down take wat u need or want put the rest out for sale get ur money back and help another moto owner out by giving them a good deal on the extra parts u do not need,i have a cf moto 250,t v5 street bike its been a good little bike yea its got a issue or two but its an 09 ive road it every summer since new kept oil change regulary and tires aIREDUP IT STAYS INSIDE THRU THE WINTER KEEP THE BATTERY UNPLUGGED BECAUSE OF THE STUPID CHEAP RADIO HOLDS THE STATION RUNS IT DOWN IF U DONT ,I TOOK A BROWN EXTENTION CORD CUT THE PLUG INS OFF IT SPLICED TO MY BATTER TERMINAL HOT WIRE AND USE IT AS A SWITCH TO KEEP THE BATTERY FROM DRAING,AND IVE LITTERALY DONE NOTHING ELSE ECEPT GET ON IT AND RIDE ITS COLD NATURED BUT ONCE ITS WARMED UP IT RUNS GOOD ,LOVE IT ,ELCHEAPO ON GAS CANT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT IT REALLY,EXCEPT FINDING PARTS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE ,OH YEA THE EYE CHECK GLASS IN THE BRAKES HANDLE FOR FLUID THEY STARETED LEAKING ,BUT GOTEM FROM AMAZON FOR 15 BUCKS IF ID HAD PRIME COST WOULD OF BEEN 7 BUCKS REPLACED THE EYE GLASS THATS IT SO FARPLASTICS A BIT BRITTAL NOW BUT ITS 9 YRS OLD SO ITS DOING GOOD BUT STILL CLEAN LOOKING AND HOLDING ITSD SHINE I DO COVER IT WEN ITS OUTSIDE FOR VERY LONG SO THIS MAY BE WHY MINE IS LIKE NEW LOOKING STILL AND ITS STORED INSIDE ALL WINTER SETS IN MY KITCHEN OFF TO THE SIDE LIKE A EXTRA SEAT LOL AT THE TABLEIF ANY ONE HAS ANY GOOD INFO FOR PARTS PLEASE SHARE THOSE CONTACTS WANTING TO UPGRADE THE ENGENE AND CARB EXAUST P[LUS IM LOOKING FOR A SET OF SADDLE BAGS FOR IT THAT FIT IT,IVE GOT THE LEATHER ONES BUT TO BIG 4 IT
