Here is a true experience and then people start in about the exact place. It is the Spirit of the story. Keep it simple. There won't be a test at the Pearly Gates where the Book of Mormon took place only if you have a testimony of truthfulness.
I do not know but before the video I felt like because it was Mexico City, that the prophet would assume that these were the descendants in the Book of Mormon. Does anyone know about the DNA studies? Are people from Mexico from Jerusalem? I heard that Joseph Smith sent missionaries to go to a particular set of Native American Indians in the 1800s and that those people actually had DNA blood that links back to Jerusalem. That's pretty awesome if you think about it! Most Native Americans didn't and neither did Central and South Americans link back to Jerusalem in their DNA according to that study. At least I believe that's the truth, right? So for him to say Father Lehi, I believe it may be from my thoughts before the DNA studies, that Central and South Americans are definitely descendents from Lehi. I've been in the church since the '80s! Nevertheless, it doesn't mean he didn't see Father Lehi spiritually. Did he see Lehi with his physical eyes? I have seen angels but never with my physical eyes. I see the Holy Ghost, but never with my physical eyes, but He points me to some things with my physical eyes so He can talk straight to me. That is awesome by the way! ❤😊 Go Holy Ghost power!
Only 2% of the global population has been DNA tested. To draw any conclusions with 2% of the data is down right foolish. They have already found DNA positive native Americans as mentioned and more will be found in time. The very reality of the need to gather Israel should tell you that we are all connected.and yes by DNA!
Makes sense that President Hinckley would say that about Father Lehi and his decedents at the Mexico City temple dedication. Mexico and Guatemala is where the Book of Mormon account took place.

This is not opinion but rather is fact based on the words of prophets that have spoken on the topic. I encourage people to do research using reliable resources as Presidnt Nelson has directed.
That is correct, again do the research as directed and you'll discover important truths. You'll also learn why the church can't yet have an official position. The lack of taking an official position does not mean it is not known. I will add that some real historical sites will have tourist buses and others will bring literally from out of nowhere men in black suits demanding that you to leave the area immediately. Much of our true history has been kept from us here in America.

Sorry it's time to end this old misguided belief. The lands of the book of Mormon are that of both North and South America. :)
