I hate it! But you are so right. Mike should've taken a downer and just let the sentences be finished. You can tell she is mad. Sucks because this could've been an awesome story time.
Its so baffling they were making no real money at their peak, major labels are the fucking devil.. I would bet most of the bands on FAT were earning more money than L7 in the 90's... thats the catch I guess, If they weren't on a major they wouldn't have played all those massive festivals... but they probably could have had a more sustainable career being independent.. not rich but a livable income for sure.
Ima fan of L7 but they never had an album that sold more than 300,000 copies in the US. You got to go Platinum before you start to make money. They got a massive push in the early 90's. They did all the late-night talk shows, constant rotation on MTV2, toured with Beastie Boys and Pearl Jam, played on Lalapalooza, were on the cover of Rolling Stone and Spin. So, the label put them 'out there',. L7 unfortunately, just never found their target market.
Mike can you please please get Courtney Love on and ask her why she got rid of Kurt and El Duce? Please? You're the only one I could see getting her riled up enough to slip.
Off topic but you should do it anyway; a Moana cover of How far I'll go. Melvin and shit box should play too, and El Hefe for some creativity, also Sam, GO!
Damn when I first read your comment I was like what the hell….so where is the free link again? And yeah I just preordered that RKL live LP Mike lemme watch the rest!
I hope to see/hear the full version here, for free on TH-cam. Because Spotify is a fuck up company, with a CEO investing his money in warcraft drone startups and he neither has profound knowledge about art and music, he is a moneymaking asshole, in charge for shortening of song spans and more and more of plastic/generic mainstream pop. If you support this exclusively, I’m out.
In the full episode they talk about one story they couldn’t put in the book because it would have overshadowed the other stories - anyone have any ideas? It’s come up a few times about NOFX talking about Kurt Cobain being murdered - wondering if it’s maybe something to do with this (long shot maybe)
Jennifer is not given room to breathe in this one. She has stories to tell but you gotta give her space.
