I wonder if it was a management problem more than poor writers. Maybe they might have been so inefficient at using their budget and time that they had to limit so many of the scenes for character development and getting from plot point to plot point. So many character actions just didn't make sense because there was nothing explaining or justifying it in the show.

And honestly, his direction in Ep. 9 was the best thing at that movie, because it felt the movie was trying to lead us somewhere. The problem was the writer that didn't realyl capture his original idea :/ Same thing here. The writers didn't really capture Leslie's original idea. Pherhaps she had visioned a story that didn't need 8 episodes to be told, and the writers tried to extend it, resulting in this pointless mess we've got. Even though the writers nessed up, I still felt like the series tried to lead us somewhere, even though, it failed
Agreed. Manny was a kernel of gold in a show that was not. I have a love hate relationship with the show as a result. I hated almost everything, but loved his character. They should hand this character off to other creatives to handle and have him return in live action in some capacity.

I really liked episode 5, it felt dangerous and raw, not completely polished like we often see. I don't like the floating or ballerina dance routine-looking sequences as much.
The main problem fight the fight scenes were the stupid cuts to other developments in between lightsaber clashes or slashes. It's dumb as fuck and they should have let it run fully
His character was interesting to me the most, next to sol, he was a great in the show, I hope they give another chance at Star Wars for different projects in voice acting, video games whatever it is give him something.

The Acolyte was not a great show in terms of story telling but those fight scenes with Qimir were the best thing ever, I hope future star wars shows use more fight scenes like this.

I loved this show. The presentation is excellent, and I personally loved the story a lot. Sol, Qimir, Osha, and Mae were great for me, and I'm glad we at least got the season we did.
I will admit I only wanted a second season because of him, they had an entire season to make me care about Oshamae and they failed but Manny only needed a couple of episodes to make me care about his character. He literally out acted his co-star in every scene and it was so noticeable that Amandla wasn’t putting in the same energy he was.
Could care less about Osha and Mae but he and Sol were the best part of the show there is no denying that. And the show wasn't perfect but they were and the Padawan as well.
Yea, the show lacked so much character development I barely knew or cared about anyone's name before they died. I really liked the short spikey horned girl a lot when she died but to be honest, I only cared about her once they showed she had a talent and passion about saber fighting. A Wookie Jedi sounds cool, too bad he was just a robot with no personality. Trinity Jedi just played the same emotionless being she did from The Matrix which made more sense there. Torbin's balding hair looked so ridiculous I wish he died a more painful death. Didn't like Yord, glad he was killed. I didn't and still dont see any character difference between May and Osha. They just feel like a generic character who should have been killed off. But Quimir... If season 2 wasn't set up as a love story with boring Osha, I would like to know more about that character.
the Acolyte was really flawed but one of the best things about it was the fight choreography, like the first fight we see Mae in was like a Martial arts fight amazing
People use their feelings in reviews and not logic it killed Star Wars and Marvel in streaming and it will never be in the Films type of quality. They keep it up and it will be the end
I agree, canceling this series was a no-brainer. It was expensive, didn't meet the standard of the Star Wars project, and the ratings reflected this in the episode-to-episode viewership drop. That said, We can and should celebrate what good things it brought into the Star Wars Universe.
i agree many of the shows audience reviews were already sent before the show even aired and were displaying their opinions on disney and “the message” over the show itself, leading it to be more hated than it should’ve been otherwise also like disney’s PR team needs a raise

I absolutely agree with Eckhart’s original conclusion that he cared more about Qmir, Sol, and the rest of the Jedi council story than the twins. The reveal was too telegraphed to be a surprise, but Dude killed as the Stranger, was a compelling character, and had some GUNS when he started fighting.

Watch Manny Jacinto as Jason in The Good Place, and you'll see how good of an actor he is. The one good thing The Acolyte did was to handle Qirim subtly and even a bit seductively when he was revealed. That made him even more dangerous than if he came charging out as big and bad. The character and Manny are too good to waste. I hope Star Wars can bring him back in some form or fashion.
I'm glad people are giving credit to the parts of the show that were good. I might get hate for it, but I maintain that Kenobi and Book of Boba were worse than Acolyte. At least Acolyte didn't ruin any established characters. I also think all 3 of those shows had the same problem, they were trying to be 2 shows at once and had identity issues. Boba was turned into Mando season 2.5, Kenobi had a Inquisitor spinoff bait that no one asked for, and Acolyte couldn't decide if it wanted to be a detective story, Sith origin story, or a Force mysticism story and killed off most of its cast before we could get to know them because we were too busy with flashbacks.
Even though you could see the twist coming from a mile away that qimir was the dark master, I dont think that's a bad thing. Its like the bomb under the table thing; we know he is going to be the master, but how will the other characters react, what will he be like, will he be strong or weak? I liked it.
I really liked qimir's character he was like a rabid wild dog, but when they hinted that he was plagueis's apprentice, it really took the character in a direction I wouldn't like. Not only did I not want them to attempt plagueis's backstory, but I liked the idea that qimir was self-taught. The idea that he might have found some old sith texts or holocrons then naturally come to the same ideological conclusions as the sith seemed really cool to me, and showed just how pervasive and dangerous the darkside could be.
I thought "Disney will never let any of the characters die, Especially that young girl, They're too soft for that.." Then this guy comes in and I'm like "WOAH DISNEY.. WOAHH!!" And he gave that little girl the most brutal death!!!!!!~
They can say whatever they want. Sol and this dude were good. The rest of the cast was entitled, spoiled kids who wanted and talked big but ended up short.
