She's a Cat a strong Cat, she was made for one thing and that is to sail the seas. The endeavor you guy's started seems to have been a monumental task so far and you're still smiling. It's the journey, not the time or distance, the journey is all that matters. Set sail guys and leave doubt and regrets behind you,
I have been watching your channel since you started and did a double take when I saw your new boat. What a small world, I saw this boat being built you got yourself one hell of an amazing machine. Have great fun sailing her and I can’t wait to see the videos.
Oh wow. Welcome to our home. Stay here for a while and do the refit here. There are many talented craftsmen in KZN and in Cape Town to do a refit. As for moving the boat. You could consider a delivery crew and skipper to not only help you take the boat, but can also help with some proper sailing lessons. You are paying for it anyway ... so make the most of the expertise.
William doesn’t do cheap upgrades. The doors and windows are a huge safety upgrade. All of these are very pricey. My question is are these upgrades more or less expensive than the US. Congrats team.
Interesting, you are now the 3rd Aluminum Catamaran. Sv DELOS has been building theirs in Australia. And, Plucky, has been building his Aluminum Catamaran in Vietnam.
You know James of Zingaro said it so well. There are sailors and there are nailers. I have to admit that my drive is a nailer. Love the water and love to be in remote anchorages. But far more enjoy being an engineer to build things than sit and watch the wind blow. Lol Capt W
Congratulations on your new (to you) cat! Based on your needs, and desire for safety, I suggest you ship your new cat. That said, Sailing Ruby Rose recently shipped their cat the other way (Thailand area to the Med.) and had some big issues that were caused on board the cargo ship. So, there is that to consider... Still, forewarned can help to alleviate some issues, so it could be a negotiation point with the shipper (no welding, grinding, or painting on the ship unless they carefully and completely wrap your cat to protect it!). I look forward to seeing what you do and what you do with the cat! All the best!
😄👍 you can always find young sailing crew wanting to travel to different countries, advertise in backpackers and places where young people visit all the time. Do it as a tucker trip, you feed them and they travel for free. It’s worth a try.
Well, the boat change was unexpected but the new one looks pretty capable for rough seas. I like the inside helm station. One day with both your permissions, you could take us on a tour of Yana's tatoo. Maybe with a story line. Fair Winds!
Magnificent update, thank you! You demonstrate so much joy and excitement with the refit and in what is to come. I’d have to see the numbers to evaluate ship, crew, or solo sail from a financial perspective. If your objective is to get it to Thailand then I’d probably lean towards ship or hire a crew, depending upon costs. The upside with a crew is you get to experience the trip with an extensive shake-down and expertise onboard. The downside is you have dangerous waters along your route and many open oceans. Issues could be a bitch to deal with. Since I tend to be risk-averse, I’d tend towards shipping and do the extensive shakedown in the Thai waters you know. I don't think even you guys should solo sail that far. I look forward to seeing more from you!
Congratulations on the new Cat & dog, I'm so excited for you guys. The build is half the journey. Very impressive captain's chair. Can't wait to see how fast she goes. Surveillance on the corners for pirates of course. Safe journey my friend May the winds forever be in your favor...
Now that's a boat, wowww, that was great find,William knows what time it is😁,it's time to get to work and make it your own💕💪🐬best of luck ,God bless 🙏 you both and your new home
OMG 😱, SAILING DAWN HUNTERS‼️‼️ 💕 Another boat in need of repairs and upgrades ❤️🩹 Soooooo freaking fun to be with you on this journey. I repeat…..OMG 😳. Seems like a bunch of sailors are moving to metal boats and your decision here has been the final point for our decision. Metal boat it is👍🏻🙌🏻 Sooooo looking forward to seeing all the upgrades in detail which will help me finalize our choices. See you next time. ✨🌊💨⛵️🏝️👙🌞✨
Hello!! Hit us up if you want to build one as this is THE ULTIMATE catamaran!! Having upper helm outside for the wind and amazing weather, inside helm for shit storms, mixed with speed and safety this boat rocks!! And has 7 years sailing under her helm so not a science project. Come along for the adventure Capt W and Iana
Wonderful, great to see you again and enjoying yourself on a metal boat, yikes with all the upgrades $$$, She is going to be fantastic! You two allways so upbeat & excited,Looking It & Good for you ! Can’t wait to see her flying across the ocean, she looks to be a fast Demon ! See you soon 🇨🇦 Cdn. Dave 🇨🇦
Wow I’m really excited for you guys! It will be so much fun following how you build out your new home. South Africa seems like a great place to be working on it.
Congratulations on your purchase) This catamaran has been on sale for a long time. I also looked at ads on the Internet, I don't remember why I didn't decide to fly to South Africa. I even subscribed to you now, starting with this episode. Although sometimes I watched your channel starting with the repair of an iron boat. With best wishes from cold Russia)
Wow, Wow, Wow, what a boat. I cannot wait to watch the process till you get her completely done she is going to be an absolute beauty. The projects that you two take on surely are not for the faint of heart. It amazes me how you can take a little bit of something here and a little bit of something there and turn it into a really funny , cool , yet informative video. Just an FYI Ruby Rose ship their new cat and it came through needing basically a brand new paint job, it had they said rust thrown all over it so if you decide to ship maybe you need to shrink wrap don't know if that would even take care of it. Why not sail it, You guys are always in for an adventure right? As always God bless and stay safe out there till next time
WoW what another beautiful boat. Every boat you have had you have really put your marks on them and made them beautiful homes. Absolutely fantastic work and dedication. I do hope whatever decision you make you will both be very happy with your bigger newer home. You do make me laugh also so thanks for that!!
Glad to see you guys happy ! Regards Arran ( the Lagoon 560 owner Koh Lanta ) I'm planning to upgrade the anchor, any recommendations for a 56ft 30 tonne ? Theres the Rocna at around $5k then theres the Ultra at double that price but supposed to be better and apparently its quick to reset when the wind turns ? Also looking into putting snubbers on the bridle... Mantus have a snubber & bridle system for large cats... but it may be possible just to get snubbers then attach them onto the existing bridle. As regards getting the Tiger to Thailand I would go for it you will learn lots about the boat on the trip, maybe hire crew to help.
They used to say "put a tiger in your tank" (remember?) - now your tank, deck, and everything IS a tiger! Hey William, is that xtra thick or special primer you need when putting copper paint on aluminum hull? Cheers guys!
You guys are crazy, but I mean that in a good way. What a life you live. As for getting the Tiger to Thailand: I would not transport it over land. Hire an experienced crew and during your crossing you will see what works and what you need to make it the perfect boat. No better time to work out the bugs. After 6000 miles, you will know everything you need to know about the boat (hopefully). Also I would wait to cross where the weather is better and avoid any major storms if that’s possible.
🤔 William & Iana, Congratulations on the new Dawn Hunter! I know that William, based on his profession as a marine field engineer, favors steel or aluminum boats (as do I). The killer of aluminum yachts is galvanic & electrolytic corrosion (assuming no Beryllium assassins attack 🤣😱). William is very aware of corrosion prevention and will be a fine steward for this magnificent yacht. While I favor monohull SV’s this cat would be at the top of my “cat list” if 💴 were not a constraint. Have a great “sail life”. 😎👏👍
So cool, I would b buying an aluminum boat as well. I trust it much more than fiberglass. Looks like an awesome boat and can’t wait to see some of the adventures on her. Stay safe guys….
Wow that was a suprise 😂... That is an awesome 😎 cat its flipping huge.. 😳🧙🏼♂️🤣🇬🇧 Those rear decks when you get round to it cork decking is great for insulation rot resistance noise and damage control Yana 😉 fire resistant and great insulation. Hot or cold... No nasty plastics or chemicals to offgas. UV stable. I would have saved some of those older window pannels to make a rigid screen for the upper helm station
Now, this is a boat! Holly S _ _ _. You could hit a whale with that boat. Waterproof bulkheads, aluminum hull, and a washing machine for Yana! It doesn't get any better than that. I've watched you guys since the original Dawn Hunter, and I asked you this question long ago. Does Yana have an older sister? (LOL). This adventure is going to be epic. This is the boat you have always dreamed of. Have fun, guys.
I’d think about a crew to bring it back if you have the funding. Just hop on and off as you desire. When you think back in Phuket? Can’t wait see you guys again! Still need your thoughts on the 48 volt system. ))
If had known you could have done a hard food and medical grade epoxy and paint mix coat .. it drys so hard and shiny nothing can hold on ..see Arrie and his lady of Tentmaran sailing did his trimerans like that..
At 68...& a music studio engineer for over 35 years my dream has been to sail island to island recording original island artists music. So, if you ever want a crew member & bring that to life.. hit me up 🎉
I wondered what happened to you two? I was subscribed ( now re-subscribed) but you disappeared from my feed, sorry couldn’t remember the name to search😮. I guess all my Catamaran viewing brought you back up in my feed now . That’s a great catamaran you’ve got there.
Hey never new you were her in South Africa DAM.... Wish i could come and visit or help BUT im in the Karoo at the moment. If your coming up the west coast you should really stop of at Langebaan / Saldanha my home town Flat water and lots to see and do!!!!

It seems I am constantly seeing older sailing guys with considerably younger ladies. Makes me want to buy a boat!
Engineer + Young Dentist Wife = Fun Entertainment! Love this Channel!
They are a breath of fresh air at minimum. Funny, exciting, adventurous.ect

just a word: COOL! KRUTO! btw a higher percentage of the world populations says Aluminium
William doesn’t do cheap upgrades. The doors and windows are a huge safety upgrade. All of these are very pricey. My question is are these upgrades more or less expensive than the US. Congrats team.
I have got to watch these episodes!
😀😀👍👍👍❤❤ I think 6 years from now you both will be happier if you SLOW down just a little! I too own an aluminum boat in Seattle, WA. (Northwest USA)
Happy for you two
Interesting, you are now the 3rd Aluminum Catamaran.
Sv DELOS has been building theirs in Australia. And, Plucky, has been building his Aluminum Catamaran in Vietnam.
William crawling under the box frame, too funny!😂
Well done Dawn Hunter❤
Tiger will be awesome when you've finished doing her up. Looking forward to the tour. Keep safe guys.
Again, not a sailor BUT - you HAVE to sail her to Thailand. What an adventure!
You know James of Zingaro said it so well. There are sailors and there are nailers. I have to admit that my drive is a nailer. Love the water and love to be in remote anchorages. But far more enjoy being an engineer to build things than sit and watch the wind blow. Lol

Durban. My hometown. Beautiful city and awesome food
Love you two crazy peeps❤. Can't wait to see the "finished" boat & your adventures 🎉🎉🎉🎉
New cat looks fantastic and back to metal, much better.👍

Congratulations on your new (to you) cat! Based on your needs, and desire for safety, I suggest you ship your new cat. Hello from Australia 🦘. Looking forward to the new shows.😄
Wow! What an awesome boat! Well done!
Happy and save sailing been following you guys from your mono hole from South Africa
First, I am not a sailor but man, that looks like a lot of boat for two people
You know that after sailing the steel 68 ton single screw boat this one is like driving a race car. She responds so well and turns on a dime.
Capt W
Congrats, great move. Have fun!
Fabulous videos.
Oh, MG 😮 🙏🏼
From day one.. I knew you too would be fun to watch and be apart of something great.
Give the Winns a shout their boat is in for repair, maybe they would sail tiger to you
Congratulations, great Episode (s)! Great Catamaran, WoW! Always the best looking crew too! Fair Winds & Following Seas! Safe travels!

Agree, fibreglass can crack, absorb water, fade and not easy to repair.
Where have you guys been no see in a while!😊😊😊
Wow that was a suprise 😂... That is an awesome 😎 cat its flipping huge.. 😳🧙🏼♂️🤣🇬🇧

Sail it and take a couple of crew...to split the load.. sail via Goa. Swap crews..just an idea.
Have William sail the boat with a crew, and Iana goes to get the other things packed from the old boat?
You’re in my old home of South Africa! You definitely need to go to Cape Town. Most beautiful city in the world.
Hi, your boat looks awesome, like yourselves 👍+ dog
Now, this is a boat! Holly S _ _ _. You could hit a whale with that boat. Waterproof bulkheads, aluminum hull, and a washing machine for Yana! It doesn't get any better than that. Your 100% correct. And I am thinking to actually start offering this design for sale. Thoughts?

When do you think will sail (if decided to..) to Thailand?
I’d think about a crew to bring it back if you have the funding. Just hop on and off as you desire. When you think back in Phuket? Can’t wait see you guys again! Still need your thoughts on the 48 volt system. ))

I would hire a Crew to help you get back to Thailand safely and as quickly as possible to avoid a lot of the bad weather coming ahead.
