Mine always grabs the transparency from behind what I’m blending and creates this awful muddy transparent blend. I’m just trying to make a gradient and I hate fighting with it
THIS WAS SO HELPFUL! Thank you so much for making this video! I can finally make wayyyyyyyyyyy better drawings! 10/10! I will be using this all the time!
I honestly did not know that you could choose a different brush with the smudge tool. Procreate should really start including tutorials😅. Thank you so much for such a helpful video
Thanks for your comment! 😊 Procreate does do short tutorials on their TH-cam channel and Instagram reels. And they have a longer course for free on their site for beginners. ❤
Can you blend manually in procreate without custom brushes/smudge/blur? Just using the eye dropper tool and just a normal round brush? I read somewhere that blending normally is hard in procreate.
@@CristinAF Oh. Thank you. I really appreciate you replying. I use Ibis, and I've been looking up procreate stuff. So far it's an amazing app, I would like to have one someday when I have enough money, ofc I'll need an ipad first. Anyways I'm just making sure if it has some downsides. Basically the blending is totally fine right? Not as hard as I've read?
@@newaccount6414 It’s not hard at all, you just need to know which features to use to get your desired results. I also forgot to mention you can use blending modes in the layers as well. There are just so many features that are great in this app.
Thanks for asking! It’s really going to depend on your preferred style of art and how much control you want over the blending. Personally, I prefer using the smudge tool with a texture brush and set it to a lower opacity.
I press super hard on mine and it has scratches too I use one I got off of Amazon that is just a matte screen protector called Supershieldz amzn.to/3A6d2Tu
I cannot get smudge to do anything. Like I select a brush and just flat does nothing. No mixing no added color, it's like I'm not even touching the screen :( and I cannot get any of the other ways to work for what I'm wanting either.
i think maybe you should use the airbrush tool with smudging and maybe it might blend then but you have to swish through each colour like swaying through each colour maybe you can try that
Girl you need to tell us how do you get the colour blender I tried over like 1 million times and you still never told her I tapped on the finger and looked everywhere for it. You’re not telling us how to help you’re not helping.
Thanks for commenting! To get the kind of paint blending you’re referring to, will depend on which brushes you use, their wet dynamics, and their blend modes. Also, you can make your own brushes that do this 😉
Appreciate the effort but those are such bad blends. So blotchy. Someone coming for help will not find it useful. It's a shame since you seem like a person who takes time and effort and can explain things easily
Thanks for commenting! To get better results will depend on your skill level and brush you use. These techniques work well but it was my mistake to not take enough time to follow through on each one and make it look good because I was trying not to have a super long video. I appreciate your feedback!

Such an easy and organized tutorial. 😭 Thank you, Mrs. Cristin.

Try selecting just what’s on that layer so it won’t pull in the background. Tap the layer and then choose select.

Yes, it’s possible but you need a brush with wet dynamics. There are a couple native brushes in procreate that do this. One is the turpentine brush.

Where did you get the blender brushes
I got them on DesignCuts. The link is in the description.

I cannot get smudge to do anything. Like I select a brush and just flat does nothing. No mixing no added color, it's like I'm not even touching the screen :( and I cannot get any of the other ways to work for what I'm wanting either.
Try selecting a different brush for smudge and make sure the opacity is all the way up and that you’re on the correct layer.
@@CristinAF Thank you I will try that!
Okay but show us how to get the b personal brush
But when I use the finger tool. Whatever color I was working with starts to appear where I'm coloring too. How do I make it just blend and not color
i think maybe you should use the airbrush tool with smudging and maybe it might blend then but you have to swish through each colour like swaying through each colour maybe you can try that
And you could try setting the smudge tool to 50% opacity
Exactly. It still applies my color 😭

Why every time i try to blend it pushes my color around and stead of flowing into each other
We’re is the blender brush link
Here’s just one set but you can use any brush - www.designcuts.com/product/blender-procreate-brushes/
Can you do this on a phone?
Procreate has a smaller version called Pocket for the iPhone
I tried to do what you did on the smudge and Everytime I clicked select, it filled my layer. I don't know how to make it not do that.
After you click select, at the bottom of the screen make sure Color Fill is turned off
How can I do the 3rd one
You would need to purchase specific blender brushes for this.
@@CristinAF and how can I do that

How do you insert it into procreate?
Insert what, specifically?
What's the app
Procreate
None of this is happening with me it’s not spreading to the outside but my blending is so blurry why is that?
I would need some more info or a look at your screen to see where your settings are.
I figured It out ages ago@@CristinAF
Is there a way I can get the brushes for free
You can use any of the brushes included with procreate as a smudge brush
How do u make it full screen
Tap 4 fingers on the screen
@@CristinAF u sure?
@@CristinAF it didn’t work :(
Not sure how you're just blending with the actual brush... mine always adds the color I have selected.
It’s the brushes I’m using. They’re specifically made for blending and have the settings made to not show color.
i wish the brushes were free :]
You can use any brush you have in procreate as a blender brush 😊
Wait I was blending around something
There is such a variety of ways to make art in Procreate that I don’t think there is a wrong way. Whatever works! 😊❤
What if I need to do certain spots
You can use the selection tool to choose your spots
Um that’s not really blending that’s more combining the colors and creating a new one that doesn’t really blend into the colors
Thanks for commenting! I appreciate your feedback.
Yeah but I can’t find anywhere that says smudge tool
It’s the icon in the top right that looks like a pointed finger. Any of the brushes in that menu can be used to smudge.
A free one???????????? It can blend in Ibis paint x
Any of the brushes on your iPad already are free to use in the smudge tool in procreate.
This was confusing it was really hard to do
Im happy to slow it down and explain it better over in my community at fb.com/groups/procreatebeginners
