  • *Update April 2023: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON OFFBRAND. It's not worth your reputation as a DJ. Go for the ADJ brand: amzn.to/3zKkYKt
First things first: beware when buying Chinese DJ lights!! Yes the price tag is attractive but you get what you pay for and it may cost you more in the long run and any real professional mobile DJ/Audio Visual company most likely won't own much offbranded equipment like this.
My personal experience has not been great with them so I suggest to stay away from them. The only time I'd recommend getting these offbrand pars, light bars, or moving heads is if #1 you are using a DMX interface so you can have some control over them, #2: if you're really on a budget but want to offer some sort of lighting as a DJ and the most important tip: #3 get these lights for your house for halloween or something like that--not a professional, paid DJ gig.
However, if you are starting out and getting an easy rig going, there are ways you can incorporate these types of fixtures and make them work. When I first started, I used 6 of these pars that cost me around $20 each for some uplighting. I did not DMX them, just set them to a color and left it. Did it work, yes--was it awesome? not really. Point being, they did their job and I didn't have an issue with them. The time I have an issue is when I try to mess with the menu on them or put them on a different setting.
Do you use any off these off-brand lights? Please let me know in the comments. No judgements lol.
Also, please feel free to connect with me: @djbeachkng on instgram and I will do the same!

If you don't know how to read a DMX table then you shouldn't be charging people for lighting services.

    ADDR stands for DMX address
Cha...stands for channel mode, most all led bars can be ran in 4, 8, 12, 16 and usually 24 channel.

Ive got the same or "similar" light and i run it on an auto mode which reacts to sound and it has a "gain" setting which really looked great up against my back wall and banner.

I’ve had good luck buying some of these off brand lights. Granted they are mainly used at my home & very well taken care of. I imagine that being transported & put up/down regularly would wear them out quicker than the name brand stuff. The off brands definitely cut corners in certain areas.

I too was very puzzled at the menu that seemed simple but when I went to hit the sound or auto mode the light would not lock in and "ensure" the scene. I tried over and over passing different menu layers but kept getting a C620 or CB20 reading... my preferred look did not want to stay. Then I hit the "menu" and the selected code number "enter" together at the same time and it stopped blinking and the scene stayed. Hallelujah. I hope this helps someone.

Thanks for the review, brightness is what I was worried about. I understand your frustration with the menu. I use dmx with Lighting Consoles such as Chamsys and Grand MA2 so I look at those channels to determine what type of control I want to have. Typically the more channels the more complexity. So you set it on how many channels you want and then set the dmx address. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

@@zangzang1268take a look back at lighting demos. You need a lot of the same fixture to get an effect. So saving 70% x100 lights makes a difference.

I use almost chinese lights and I love them. I saw so many bars, clubs, big events, wehere chinese lights are used and they work perfect, so I can not understand this "hating" video aimed against cheaper chinese lights. Yes, one must be cautios, because on the market re very oft real shits, but there are also lot of very good stuff ;-)

  • @jt5326

Im curious if the Chinese lights stand the test of time show after show. Thats always been my concern. Also, those menus names are pretty standard even on Chauvet fixtures. I also highly recommend using dmx. You can take it another step further and add midi program changes with my dmx 3.0 or other similar products. Its game changing and truly a pro setup when you can control exactly what your lights are doing rather than hoping they look cool.

I'm a bit late on this reply but having now used this light for a bit now, I can say that I don't have a lot of confidence in it. I use it only when I know I'm going to set it to one color and leave it. I'll use it in my facade or like a large uplight. I have mydmx go which I personally really love but I have not connected it with this light. Thats awesome you use mydmx as well!

It´s all the same... everything comes from the same producer in China. Look all these PAR or Moving Heads in the Low-Price-Range. They all looking the same and use the same Channels for DMX. The only difference between the Products is that you pay more for "ADJ" (or every other Brand) and get a Sticker on your Device.

Or when a LED dies or something goes wrong good luck talking Mandarin for the warranty repair. ADJ or Chauvet will have English speaking reps here in the states. Also, this was a year ago, with all the shipping BS and economic reset these things will probably start costing the same price. What use to cost a company $2000 to ship from China before the scamdemic now costs $22,000! We’re going to be paying out the rear for the same Asian junk soon.
