Your advice on the type of salt, and adding 50gr. of dark brown sugar made all the difference!! I always just add molasses to white sugar to make my own brown sugar.
It both avoids the dreaded hardening of the brown sugar and gives me consistent results. I tend to add a 1/16th (molasses compared to white sugar) measure molasses for light brown sugar and 1/8th for dark brown.

Snickerdoodles are delicious! For Christmas I made snickerdoodle dough, rolled them in the cinnamon sugar, placed them in the bottom of a cupcake liner and pressed in. Then made a vanilla cake batter dosed with some cinnamon, placed the batter on top, and baked them, making cookie bottom cupcakes (did it with Chocolate Chip too with a chocolate chip cake batter and an Oreo cookie crumb base with chocolate cake batter). Then I made a cinnamon Italian buttercream (cookie butter Italian butter cream and chocolate chip Italian buttercream for the others) to top my snickerdoodle cookie bottom cupcakes! Yum!

I just made these cookies for two of my college-age grandsons. One is returning to North Carolina after spending the weekend with us. He specifically wanted snickerdoodles. I used white whole-wheat flour--it's all I had in the house. I used two medium eggs and one medium egg yolk. They are delicious but soft in the middle. They are picture-perfect. What I love about this recipe is there is no chilling time--just make the dough and bake. Thank you for the recipe.

This may be the first recipe I make after I renovate & get my new kitchen & oven. My Mom discovered these cookies only after I moved away to university but my little brother was still at home. She made them all the time because they were his favourite, & he was a very picky eater. As an adult he was sadly taken from us far too young (cancer). I’ve recently thought I should find a recipe & try baking some of them for his sons. I’m going to bet they’d enjoy them just as much as he did.

Recipe TYPO alert: I wasn't going to watch the video but just print the recipe and make it. Well, I have to wait for the butter and eggs to come to room temp so I went ahead and clicked on the video. I am so glad I did or I wouldn't know about the brown sugar! The recipe on the site calls for 200g white sugar but in the video he used half white and half brown sugar! I'm not sure it would make a difference but I am glad to know about it and can do the recipe the way he did.

    1 tsp Cream of tartar
    1 tsp of cinnamon

    Mix until fluffy/creamy
    2 tsp of vanilla
    1 large egg

    Mix
Add in dry ingredients. Mix slowly and gradually go up to medium. Mix until almost combined & then do the rest by yourself to not risk overmixing.

I baked them for 20mins instead of 10mins (since GF foods always take longer to bake). I think they needed another 3-5mins in the oven, but they are DELICIOUS. I still got so much leftover dough that I put in the fridge so I can bake some for my friends later. If you don’t have cream of tartar, use lemon/lime juice or vinegar with double the quantity that asked for cream of tartar, i.e. 1 teaspoon of cream of tartar = 2 teaspoons of lime/lemon juice or vinegar, I put it along with the vanilla extract.

ok so review- these cookies r perfection! when u bake it just keep an eye on the oven u r he last 5 mins so you don’t over or under do it
when it comes out, it will be a bit fudgy but after about 5 mins it’ll be a bit more solid and it won’t collapse in ur hands. make your cinnamon sugar really sugary if you like sugar because the cookies aren’t that sweet

These are really good! They taste amazing and are the best recipe I’ve tried. Whenever the ten minutes of baking is over make sure to take them out unless their wet. They may seem under baked, BUT their not! Overall 5 star! 👩🏽‍🍳👩🏽‍🍳👩🏽‍🍳😀😋

His website says that too much flour seems to be a common thing. Perhaps that's it? Try weighing out the flour instead of using measuring cups as baking seems to be more of a science than normal cooking. This is my 2nd attempt of snickerdoodles. The first recipe I tried was just bad. This one is a lot better. Good luck!

Hey maybe try making the balls smaller, I made smaller balls then usual bc I wanted smaller cookies and they actually spread a lot but keep in mind the smaller the faster they cook

    • @J-B-P
      @J-B-P 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Also it depends how warm your butter is. If your butter has been sitting out at room temp for hours your cookies will spread a lot more compared to butter that came out of the fridge within the last 30 or so minutes. I learned that the hard way lol, sometimes you want colder butter but here it actually might work for you to leave it out longer

Omg these are so amazing. They got me in trouble with my doctor who asked how often I eat stuff like cookies and I was like, "before or after I found this snickerdoodle recipe?" 😣🤣 Actually one time I wasn't thinking and I only put in 50g of brown sugar and what I got was like a hybrid biscuit cookie. Some people preferred it over the gooey cookie (not me) but I can totally see that being great with like tea or something.

My better half and I have the sugars in the pantry too - cinnamon, vanilla, lemon, and orange. The lemon 🍋 and orange 🍊 are used as rimming sugars for various martinis 🍸. Live, love, love the chocolate chip banana bread, although I did reduce the cinnamon by half, use rounded measures of the other spices and mixed bitter and semi in the chocolate department! All of your recipes are great, can’t wait to make this one! Be well.

kris wilkinson snickerdoodles have a unique flavor, the dough tastes a tad sour due to the cream of tarter (I’m a dough lover). Try them! They will not disappoint, but know that they are hard to keep fresh. They are best eaten shortly after baking so don’t double the recipe unless you have allot of people to feed them to! They are generally Christmas cookies in my family.

YES, I do keep cinnamon-sugar as well as vanilla-sugar in my baking pantry. Being European, we use pre-packed vanilla sugar in cookie recipes. I could never find such a thing here in America. So, I make my own by adding a cut up vanilla bean in a 4 cup container of sugar. Now I always have it on hand and it never spoils.
