    Thanks for the video!
I always dip the cookies in water before rolling in cinnamon sugar mix. Gives them a crunchy outside and yields a nice chew for the inside. Get a separate bowl of water for dipping. It's messier. But worth it ;)

After trying many other recipes, I like the joyofbaking snickerdoodle recipe the best. Dough is perfect to work without refrigerating or waiting to put into the oven. Perfect texture inside and out. Weigh each ball at 40 gms. My absolute favorite but will try each of the recipes from this youtube presentation to see if I like one of them better. Excellent youtube presentation. Thank you

This is my recipe after testing many, and coming up with my own. I love it soooooo much!!
    Dry
    2 3/4 cups Flour
    1 tsp Baking Soda
    1 Tsp Cream of Tartar
    1&1/4 Tsp Cinnamon
    1/2 tsp Nutmeg
    3/4 tsp Salt
    Wet
Two Sticks Butter (room Temperature) Not Melted.
    1 Cup white Sugar
Whip these two together for 3 minutes: Hand mixer
    Then add:
    Two tsp Vanilla
    & Two eggs
    Mix again only until incorporated.
Place in fridge while you make the cinnamon and sugar coating. ( 1/3 Sugar
    1 1/2 tsp Cinnamon )
    Bake at
    350 for 13 minutes

I'll have to give the melted butter in snickerdoodles a try next time, to get that denser chewier texture. The food network one is cakey because of the air whipped into the butter in the first step, which is what I did last time I made this cookie, and in my opinion, even more work than just using melted butter!

  • @michaelmcmillon5933

Seems people on food network can’t really cook, how do you not use vanilla or brown sugar 🤦🏽‍♂️.

Melba Peach and I couldn’t find vanilla paste so I just used extract instead. But I bet the paste would’ve made it 10x better

    • @josieelling8294
      @josieelling8294 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Food Network isn't what it once was, they had some amazing recipes when they began but it slowly went downhill. There are things I learned from back then that I still use but now its almost like a personality competition as opposed to actual cooks & chefs.
A pet peeve I have had for years is healthy dessert alternatives. Dessert is not considered a main course so either make it the way it was intended or just forgo it all together.
Lastly if you love cinnamon, try Vietnamese cinnamon it really kicks up the flavor for snickerdoodles!

    • @michaelmcmillon5933
      @michaelmcmillon5933 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@josieelling8294 I agree if you’re on a diet then dessert shouldn’t be on your mind and to me dessert is a treat anyways.
You are absolutely right about food network, it is just full of competition and honestly stupid shows. I just watch things like this on TH-cam or Gordon Ramsey if I wanna see some cooking. I never been a fan of cooking game shows.
I’ll have to try that out next time

I just started baking recently and I wanna try making snickerdoodle cookies, one specifically that I tried at this coffee ship. It was pretty big, a bit crunch on the sides but soft in the middle. Any recipes people can recommend?
Also it was a lot darker, it may have been snickerdoodle - ginger bread recipe but I didn’t taste much of the ginger which is nice.

Thank you! This really helped me decide when recipe to use for my cookie exchange box this year. I love that bon appetite uses melted butter so I don’t have to wait for butter to soften. I might chill some of the dough to see if that helps with the spreading. I also don’t like cakey cookies at all and actually get mad when they turn out that way. Such a waste of ingredients. Thanks for the awesome comparisons.

i followed EVERY single part of the bon appetit recipe and they turned out flat and crispy 😐 the only thing i could think of that went wrong was my baking soda isn’t good anymore. i haven’t had it for long but you’re supposed to replace it every 30 days, i dunno. very disappointed. i’m going to attempt to find another recipe in place of that one because i do not want another fail. there were also things missing in the bon appetit recipe? like it lists cream of tarter in the ingredients but never says to add it.. which i thought was weird.
