This is a superb wood working book I`ve ever read, *TopFineWoodworking. Com* . Both novice and some skilled woodworker can gain a lot of general info using this reading material. I`ve been very amazed how frequently I use this to look up woods at places like to restore and salvage spots.?
Actually, I love the look of the split filled in with the blue in this vase. You could tell it was going to be a gorgeous vase from the start, it just had a surprise in store for you. 😁
Awesome vase, great videos, not sure how anyone can give this a thumbs down, only thing I wish is for us new turners you explained how you mixed the blue you added step by step.
Definitely a nice job with the blue epoxy. Wouldn't have thought of it myself but great job on thinking of it the blue works well and looks well when finished. Another good job mate.Keep turning.
Yet another amazing piece! You artistry and craft truly know no bounds!!! I find your videos inspiring. Eventually, one of these days, I will muster enough courage to attempt turning a piece of wood into something beautiful. If something i create comes out half as good as anything you create, I will happily consider it an astonishing success. Please continue to post videos to inspire the artist in all of us! Thank you!!!
Love this project, Andy -- I wasn't sure about the blue when you started mixing it up, but I love how it looks in the final result, couldn't imagine it any other way -- thanks for sharing.
Absolutely beautiful. I do a little turning myself, and what some might thing is a ruined piece, because of the crack, you managed to turn it into it's main focal point. Again, absolutely beautiful my friend.
Master Craftsman in his element....It looks like it was hit by a blue lightening bolt....We get a lot of lightening strikes here on the high plains...Cheers from Nebraska USA
Nice, Andy. Yew is such a lovely wood, and I like the blue epoxy. The shape, though, reminds me of an old time handlebar mounted bicycle horn :-D Clyde
Love what you do with the less than perfect bits of wood. Reminds me of the Japanese art of Kintsugi which incorporates breakages into the history of an item of pottery by using lacquer to fix it. Why hide imperfections when they can be made beautiful. tyfs :-)
What a great looking piece, I had a ????? moment when you mixed the blue, but it looks so good. Clever mini sanding disc for getting down inside. Glad I found your channel. Geof Harris
Nice one Andy, love your vase, I've been trying to get hold of some Yew for a while now but although there seems to be a lot around where I live nobody is cutting it. Ron
What a surprise to see what shows up when you scrape away the bark! Under that rough layer is a very nice peace of wood. Are these just pickings from the forest that look interesting to you or do you buy them at a specialist wood shop?
@@AndyPhillipWoodturning what lathe would you recommend for beginners for wood turning btw I've already got the wood chisels but you see I'm on a budget so I need a cheap lathe
So I have just sound this channel somehow and I was very intrigued. But I feel like the ones with just music are ok to watch, still not my favorite though ... and then started watching this one, and I can’t do it. I can’t watch without talking AND MUSIC. So I’m going to be moving along....but I appreciate your talent.
This man lets his hands & tools do the talking! I can`t get enough of your "works of ART "
Very nice. The contrast of the blue resin against the beautiful grain of the yew wood is striking.
You have inspired me to look again at a yew log with a split I have in my wood pile. Brilliant piece, Andy. Thanks for sharing.

What a surprise to see what shows up when you scrape away the bark! Under that rough layer is a very nice peace of wood. Are these just pickings from the forest that look interesting to you or do you buy them at a specialist wood shop?
I do buy some pieces but its mainly sourced from fallen trees
невероятно красиво, автор настоящий художник.
Beautiful. What did you use to sand the inside of the vase?
Thanks Emory ..
A quick question. I've watched a lot of turning videos and I don't think I've ever seen the tool you use last on the inside of the vase. What is it?
Its a homemade carbide tool with a small velcro sanding pad screwed where the cutter usually is... cheers
I was curious about that tool also as it looked to be doing a pretty good job. Glad you asked about it and got a reply
@@AndyPhillipWoodturning what lathe would you recommend for beginners for wood turning btw I've already got the wood chisels but you see I'm on a budget so I need a cheap lathe
Awesome job, man!
But be careful working with yew, it's very poisonous and we need more of your videos :)
Very nicely done Andy. What was the epoxy you used?
thanks .. it was a 5 min epoxy glue
Andy, what is the sanding tool that you use to get inside the vase?
Nice vase 👍🏼⚱️
Thanks Tomas 👍
