  • Both the Lief and the Polar H10 + Elite HRV app offer best in class continuous heart rate variability monitoring. However, they both excel in different areas when it comes to stress and anxiety relief, customized breathing, sports performance, and others. In this video I answer the question: "which continuous heart rate variability wearable should I buy"?

    Elite HRV: elitehrv.com/
    HRV or Heart Rate Variability is a very strong determinant of how well you are handling emotional or physical stress at any given moment.
    Please note: Neither device is capable of 24hr monitoring as the Lief needs to be charged overnight while the Polar needs to be occasionally manually synced with the Elite HRV app throughout the day. Using an Oura ring or similar clinically validated wearable to monitor your vitals during sleep is recommended.
    If you are looking for a research paper that talks about different heart rate variability tracking devices, which ones are capable of continuous readings check out: www.mdpi.com/1424-8220/21/4/1...

    I’ve noticed the standing vs sitting thing as well while using my standing desk. I think it’s prolly this way for most people. Having to balance while standing is just one more thing for your brain to worry about while trying to focus on work.

      That plays a role for sure. For me the HRV drop and HR creeping up would happen within a few minutes though, so that's when it's Dysautonomia

    I'll check out your lief review. I'm just learning of HRV and I haven't read anything suggesting to monitor it all day. It seems similar to blood pressure in that there's no point in checking it 24/7. From what I understand at this point, HRV isn't used for monitor and find out as you go rather it gives you an idea of what shape you're in to plan your day. I know theres more uses for the monitors like during training or meditation/breathing and I plan on using the h10 that should arrive today with a mind machine, but why would you monitor all day? The elite app and others establish a baseline with a single reading a day. Maybe your review will explain this and link the studies its based on. Subbed thanks for the vids

    Very helpful thanks. When comparing gadgets like this, may I suggest showing it, explaining what it is, and how it works? Lief looks very interesting, but even looking at the website homepage I still don’t have a clue what it is and how it attaches to the body. On their FAQ finally I learn it’s a $49 or $99 monthly subscription program… for a leaf shaped device… that attaches to my body with stickers and a strap. I think. I work in branding/marketing/design… and never understand why companies don’t explain simply to potential customers what it is, and how it works. So many people will leave without bothering to find out.

    Interesting idea with the standing sitting, I know when Doctors are checking EKG of someone with an eating disorder they do laying and standing to rule out changes because of blood pressure with baroreceptors, I wonder if this is what you’re seeing?

    How well did the lief work for anxiety management compared to touch points? Like I have constant anxiety when I leave the house and I stay in fight or flight and it has caused me to be unemployed since February. Also why does the vibration not work on your lief?

    • @HRVHackers
      @HRVHackers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The effects from Touchpoints are pretty instant, sometimes even from the first few days. Lief takes time to work ( a couple of months) as it's retraining your nervous system via guided breathing biofeedback. I'm not sure when I said the vibration doesn't work on the Lief, but it works just fine 😀. I hope you get the relief from anxiety you deserve, I've been there! I'll also be posting more anxiety related content in future vids, but have you checked out the song Marconi Union weightless? It was shown to have strong anti anxiety effects in research, it helped me as well

    After purchasing on the basis of this video, I unfortunately realize the Polar H10 is incapable of continuous HRV (i.e. 24/7 HRV monitoring, even on a sample/snapshot basis). The H10/Elite combo is better characterized as a real-time HRV solution. This review is misleading.
    Have since ordered the Lief as I want to understand my heart characteristics through the day, hope it is more of a continuous HRV.
    Suggest changing the title of this video to ‘Advanced’ or ‘detailed’ HRV monitors.

    • @HRVHackers
      @HRVHackers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh no, sorry about the misunderstanding and thanks for the feedback. Both these monitors offer gold standard continuous HRV snapshots, within a certain time period. I've taken pretty long readings with Polar, but at some point, yes you will have to sync it to the app and start a new reading. That's why I suggested the Lief for cases like this, as the trends feature will automatically read from morning till night, and then you can charge your Lief as you sleep
